I don't agree.. hardcore urban soundtrack to baking cakes on a canal boat is not my taste and for me it's spoilt the video, which would otherwise have been excellent
A dream becomes reality. Savour these moments and believe me when I say they are special. Fast forward 30/40 years and you will have great memories. What you are doing together is very, very, special. Now then.....we know Holly inside out but what about Zero. She looks very special and mustn't be left out. Big rivets, lovely woodwork, loads of character......come on give us the low down on her history and story.
The uneven layers of the cake kinda prove that you bake them on the narrowboat, quite a tell & a feature! Congrats! Scarves! I kept thinking of the snow going down both your necks! Brrrrr
I live 100 miles North of Green Bay Wisconsin and have been following your vids from the beginning. I am retired and would love to sell everything and get out of America and spend time on the Canals. Wish you the best of luck in your adventure, keep the videos coming so I can live vicariously through your trials. Tim Grossmann.
Hi I’ve binged watched every one of your blogs👍. Wonderful. 2 things I’d do..... First put an advertising board 50 metres from each end of Holly so that people have time to say to each other “Fancy a coffee?” “ Yes, what a good idea!”☕️☕️🙂. Second Put locking nuts on the handles of your portholes before they “walk”😉
You two are delightful. So full of smiles and positivity. I’ve been binge watching your videos and noticing your subscriber numbers steadily creeping up. I wish you much success. Greetings from Wales. X
Vic, would you and Jo consider making a video showcasing Ben and Sylvie's boat Home Oak? Ask them to give us a tour, give us a tour, maybe see some of Ben's work other than the front hatch which I think is superb craftsmenship!
Hi Jo Vic ,you was lucky the rope and fender did no damage, yes I bet the water was dam cold ,I think I would have been worried leaving Holly all by her self no one on her you have some money worth of equipment on there you never know who watching you ,Jo you are such a beautiful lady I love your accent as well ,I truly hope this business takes of ok after all the hard work you both have but into it ,till next time take care keep safe,John 🌹💰🥂🥳☃️☃️☃️
I've fast forward as I couldn't wait to see your Cafe Open and up and running. Its looking Fantastic compared to what you started with Well done the both of you Its looking Great.👍♥️
Glad Vic went back for Holly , and you didn't end the video , as a 'Cliff Hanger' or I wouldn't have been able to sleep either. That cake looks lovely ! Stay warm ..
Ooohhhhhh Cakey Bakey 😋 looks amazing don't be so hard on yourself Jo looks amazing and i bet it tastes just as amazing! Good job sending Vic down the hatch he's the man for the job! Makes for rapid detritus removal when it's cold! Nice having the deck hatch though slightly more desireable than clambering under the deck like I do in Freya Vic and chainsaw . . . . Be careful lad 👍
Time to "big" you both up: Totally loving your slick, engaging, creative, quirky style of vlogging. Most professional on the editing front too!! ... I'm not the first to comment, but wish to reinforce that you are both soo unbelievably "good looking" and well suited it's not funny!! ... The ways in which you both present yourselves on camera are seamlessly natural and captivating. Finally your content continues to be positively engaging and absorbing. Job well done - You can stay 👍😆🥰 ... Frm Wurzel in NZ 🙃 Oh and keep them there recipes coming, they are delish!!
Hi Vic why don't you see if you can still purchase the thick black rubber gloves that come all the way up your arm I used to use them years when roding drains wort a thought, can't wait for your cafe to take off.
Nothing wrong with that cake. Once the icing or covering is on it, no one would know. We would have bought a slice or two from Holly. I’m glad Holly was okay after you got back to her. You never know who’s around these days. I’d hate for anyone to damage her whilst your back is turned. You’ve both come a long way and I’m so pleased for you. All you need now is for some better and drier/warmer weather. See you next time.
Oh my gosh, from the thumbnail I thought Jo dyed/streaked her hair blue! I was like, Hey, that looks neat! 👍 Then I realized it was your hair net. Doh! 😆 lol
Glorious homecoming reunion of the fleet happy ending... Maybe a anvil or two set on the opposite side of the boat somewhere will help to level it out... That or another fridge or range of some type? Maybe a heavy ice cream maker to go with the mouth watering vanilla and chocolate cake...
I know exactly how you both feel about Holly. She is now part of your family and helpless without you both to care for her. You would have kicked yourself if you had left her and something had happened. I can understand wanting to get away for a while, but always leave her in the trusted care of someone. I hope that when we are freed up from total lockdown, you are able to begin coffee service proper. As somebody previously mentioned, some signage on the towpaths will probably help, and maybe messaging the canal community as to your whereabouts! The very best of luck in this venture. Take care and stay safe. Stan
That's the human experience in a way, isn't it. We navigate our lives and get through things fine generally; but, much of the time we worry about our concerns which, once solved, disappear and are immediately replaced by new concerns. Not to overstate it, but we do spend a lot of time worrying about things that didn't matter in the end. If we keep failing at something we tend to try something else but, somehow, that doesn't apply to worrying about things that keep failing to remain a problem. It may just be human nature. Lovely cake. Great video.
The snow did not put me off, we will buy our boat and travel rain, sunny or SNOW. and you cake looked awesome! Nottingham and Derby are my old stomping ground. Here in New Zealand 2 weeks of high temp 29- 32 degrees. (don"t like it to hot) so my Viking friends chat later. John ,..Kaiora mi
Such a wholesome vid. Loving the accent, Jo. I am from Huddersfield ( many years ago. ) and the way the way you talk makes me feel right at home. Thanks for posting.
Agree with many here..... give the cake a name regardless of the layers slides etc.... even make a half n half putting the two halves to match.... the uniqueness of the bakes on the canal will be great..... well done cheers Debz from Oz
Your cake looks delicious. I remember when you made tins of squares for an engine fixer or some sort of worker on your boat and I just so wanted some. Your customers are going to be so lucky. And I don’t forget your elder flower stuff either.
The best cakes I have had were home made and wonky in one way or another! Thank you for your vlog - I have been to Swarkestone many times; once on a rented canal boat, but often walking from Chellaston, where I used to live (prior to 1957!). Thanks for the memories, and I hope Vic warms up soon!!! (Phil)
I have a gsm alarm which texts and rings if anything detected...£30+cheapest sim. Such peace of mind. Latest addition is blink cameras - these will put your mind at ease, can always have a quick look on camera and the motion detection is great.
We are heading north on the boat again as soon as lockdown ends. I shall have a slice of boat cake and a pot of tea. Here's wishing you a successful season to come, you pair have worked for and earned it.
AS always ...a joy to watch. Sending a box for my slice of that mouth watering cake. !! Bring on more baking. Take care and stay safe both of you. ...chris x
Super slice of life, cake looked yummy, cafe is looking superb, have followed the progress. On yachts I have been on lot of the stves/ovens are on a gimbled frame maybe overkill as most of the time is pretty level! Guy
Loving what you guys are doing, love the vlogs and love your attitude....no matter what you come up against you both have smiles on your faces....you are a an inspiring couple and really hope to pop on board " Holly " for some of your speciallities....
I laughed so hard when the cake came out a little uneven because of the boat. lol But you did a fantastic job. I am now craving cake.... lol All the best with your new venture!!!!
We’re all here with our mouths open waiting for a taste 😁🌟. You can’t just leave a Coffee boat on its own on the towpath 😲. You’ll never know who you missed !!! Joan
We enjoy watching all your doings and wish you all the best for your venture. Keep smiling. Most of the public are very nice. Some not so. One of my favourite cakes is Kouign-Amann. a Brittany delicacy a lardy bun type cake. Know of it? We worked for many years in the sector that you are about to pursue but on land and had great success with hot jam doughnuts. Pop them in the microwave, don't forget to warn the client that the jam is rather hotter than the outside. Needs a bit of trial and error to get the timing right but that can be fattening fun.
The panic of a level cake. My mom used to make wedding cakes and was very good at it. Two things she would always say, "it doesn't matter how pretty the cake looks if it tastes like crap" and "there is no mistake which cannot be covered up with frosting." Looks really cold out there, poor Vic needs a better hat.
Hi guys, I no exactly what ya mean Vic, over Xmas period I've just had 10 grands worth of gear pinched out my van really gutted not covered so out of pocket, top vid again all round winner 👍👍
Great job and congratulations on your first cake 🍰. Love the optimism when seeing a green field and thinking of summer. All the best with your adventure.😊
So pleased your back. Loving the new vlogs. Can’t wait to av my cake n eat it. 😜 No need to level Holly. It’s a quirky feature n benefit to your end product. 👍
I think on sailboats they have stoves that stay level while the boats rock. Can't think of the term for the mount. Too late for that but they may make something that you'd fit in the oven that would hold the pan level. The plate would need a ball centered underneath with a weighted pendulum. The ball would fit into a stand and be able to swivel all ways. It's old tech stuff. Good to have you back.
Excellent cake 🎂 Weed hatch work you can buy an under water camera which uses your smart phone as the ' camera ' In addition a long arm length water proof clove all so useful chest height waders to get into the canal with. Keep safe dry warm and virus free.
Hiya both just recently found your vlog....and its so sweet and calming, what a lovely couple. We can't wait till you come our way, you are heading this way, ?? so we will be over to purchase a slice of your gorgeous looking cake and a coffee, we are moored at Barton turns because we can't leave as the river at alrewas is up !! So do let us know when you are coming by Chrissie & Richie A x
I have a heck of a lot of respect for you both. I was surprised when you decided to leave Holly behind simply because of the thousands of pounds worth of boat and other goods onboard which could have been damaged if not stolen! I'm with Vic., I couldn't have slept for worrying about Holly! This was a surprise video which popped up as soon as I logged on to RUclips! Thank you for taking us along. Love your positive attitudes. Oh, btw, did you fill up with water and get rid of your rubbish?
What a hero. I can fully understand Vic's apprehension on leaving Holly. Your cake looked delicious. Had it been perfect one could believe it to be shop bought. But imperfections like a slightly wonky cake and no doubt the exceptional taste would quickly dispel that theory. I love the Nora Battye look. You just need the wrinkly stockings. But seriously you both deserve all the success after putting so much time and effort into this venture. You need to pre-notify your location so that gongoozelers can visit to sample coffee and Wonky Holly Cake or whatever menu you put out. I would eat that cake too. 😉
I expect people have already told you about gimbal oven ,which came up straightaway on Google search but in case the have not, have a look. Excellent video again . The pair of you should be on cloud 9 with what you have achieved. Cheers
It was really nice to see Holm Oak behind you guys there! I bought some plant hangers from their online shop after you guys shared their post! Really look forward to seeing you open and hopefully one day enjoying one of those chocolate cakes (even if it has listing layers- it makes it more nautical! :D )
You guys are very sweet, and I hope Holly works out as a business for you guys! As a fellow filmmaker and editor, may I suggest you get more POV and close up cutaways of the things you're working on / baking / labels etc. Quite a lot of the time, you're referring to something you're holding or working on, and we don't get to see it. And to avoid underexposed and shaky footage - you might have an easier time just shooting on an iPhone with a gimbal for stability instead of your DSLR. Just a little bit of feedback if you don't mind! You guys are so likeable, I'd love to see more of you :)
I would suggest consider making the “wonky” cakes a marketing feature of your cafe offerings, and market them as such. Also look into a self righting gamble mount for your stove. Lock it in place for cruising and let it gimble while tied up and cooking. Your cafe boat looks great! The snow video is cool.
We can't wait to moor near Holly and buy some of your coffee and gorgeous cake. We're on the Leeds & Liverpool just north of Wigan at the moment so I think it may be some time before our paths cross unfortunately. But your enthusiasm and personality alone deserves to make the cafe boat a great success.
I wanted to also mention, if you have to put your hands into the cold weed hatch again, put on some snug fitting Nitrile or Latex gloves. They will help keep your hands warm and allow for dexterous work.
Thanks for another great video. Two comments: 1) I was drinking coffee when the Princess Leia image was shown. Now I've got coffee everywhere from laughing so much. 2) Never apologise for a home made cake looking "rustic". Believe me, I have eaten more than my fair share of home baking over the years. That cake looked wonderful.i would have paid good money for a piece. Best wishes to you both during this rotten weather. Stay warm, and keep well.
Jo is so pretty, with lovely lovely eyes. That bloke shacked up with her is ok. I really appreciate your video editing skills. You two are too good to be new-age boat traveling stinkies. Good luck with the business. You both deserve success. You both seem willing and able to accomplish something special in your new careers.
Hello young two, love the videos you have been making. If and when you get down south like Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire on the grand Union canal. Keep up the great work and be safe 🙏and well 👍from colin bradford and family 👪in Milton Keynes.
What a dream! We've just bought our first narrowboat. Having a cafe on a boat takes the dream to another level
I’m not really one to comment on RUclips videos but the music while Jo was making cake is worth a comment. Absolutely 10/10

I don’t blame Vic, I would have gone back too. The look on Vic’s face when he tasted the cake, priceless.

Me and the wife would make a special journey for that cake and a latte ... well done u 2 👌
team work at its best, summer will soon be with us !!!!!
We think the wonky cakes are great a unique selling point

I wish I was closer, I would not be disappointed with that cake.
Good for you two ... would love to buy coffee and whatever if I ever pass you !!! Great energy and spirit ...YOU 'LL DO GREAT !!!
Cake looked amazing
thanks Austin 😊
I've fast forward as I couldn't wait to see your Cafe Open and up and running.
Its looking Fantastic compared to what you started with Well done the both of you
Its looking Great.👍♥️
So sweet! The cake as well as the Holly rescue!
☺️
In my mind, I’ve invented an automatic stove leveler that adjusts to accommodate the listing of the narrowboat, allowing cakes to bake straight!
Glad Vic went back for Holly , and you didn't end the video , as a 'Cliff Hanger' or I wouldn't have been able to sleep either. That cake looks lovely ! Stay warm ..
Thanks so much Jo and Vic for this one. I was not feeling good today, and your smiles just brightened up my day. :)
Loving the cake! Just call it “Listed Cake” 🥰 🍰
Ooohhhhhh Cakey Bakey 😋 looks amazing don't be so hard on yourself Jo looks amazing and i bet it tastes just as amazing!

You have to make a shelf you can ajust the angle. So the oven is level.
That cake is making my mouth water.😋🎂👍💯
Bake in a tray of water, and work out the cooking times,,,.or ... actually.....live with the ‘canal patisserie’.
If I were back on the T&M in that weather, I'd stop at the Cafe Boat and stuff myself!
Good luck with everything...living the dream!

I'm coming over the 2nd bank holiday of May, can hardly wait of a cup of Holy coffee and say howdy if the lockdown is over. Wish y'all all the best.
I think the slanted cake should be Holly's signature dish

"The Leaning Cake of Holly" ....!!!
Princess Leah with whisk and mixing bowl is classic Victor editing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That cake is magnificent! I think wonky layers should be your trademark! I wish you both all the best
Super slice of life, cake looked yummy, cafe is looking superb, have followed the progress. On yachts I have been on lot of the stves/ovens are on a gimbled frame maybe overkill as most of the time is pretty level! Guy

😊 that’s true!
The lov shines thru. Holly was. so worried about Vic. Beautiful!
The Adventure begins! Can’t wait 🥰
Pre william episodes are nice too.😍🍋🍋🍋
Absolutely brilliant video and story.
Drill a hole through the handle on your crank, and tie a float to it, so if ever you drop it in the water you can retrieve it
Best ending to a video ever! You two are the best.
Looked like me on many a Navy night watch.
Words fail me, you guys are simply amazing!
Fab love watching you 2 you make me smile thanks for that xxx
We enjoy watching all your doings and wish you all the best for your venture. Keep smiling. Most of the public are very nice. Some not so.
One of my favourite cakes is Kouign-Amann. a Brittany delicacy a lardy bun type cake. Know of it?
We worked for many years in the sector that you are about to pursue but on land and had great success with hot jam doughnuts. Lovely cake. You two and your boats are perfect for each other. Perfect for us too. Thanks, take care.
Brilliant to see the first cake baked on Holly! 😊
Excellent cake 🎂
Weed hatch work you can buy an under water camera which uses your smart phone as the ' camera '
In addition a long arm length water proof clove
all so useful chest height waders to get into the canal with.

I wanted to also mention, if you have to put your hands into the cold weed hatch again, put on some snug fitting Nitrile or Latex gloves. They will help keep your hands warm and allow for dexterous work.
Thanks for another great video.

1) I was drinking coffee when the Princess Leia image was shown.
