Been checking out all the Q8 reviews and this is the best by some way.
Definitely one of the best SUV’s on sale right now. 20inch wheels with black rims would be my ideal spec. Great review and roll on the RS Q8.

Great review Thomas, I ordered one of these on Monday, now I've seen your review, I'm really happy about it. It's a 50 TDi Black Edition in Daytona Grey with the Comfort & Sound pack and the 22" Audi Cast Alloys. Super excited about it!!!
Audi killing the game
I test drove it today. The interior and frameless doors are nice. BUT the deal killer was the 1-2 seconds turbo lag.
I love the design and I’m glad Audi didn’t copy BMW or MB with the coupe sloping rear. My only criticism is that the interior has one screen too many just like the A6/7/8. I would prefer knobs and buttons to control the heating/ventilation and the MMI dial to control the functions. Not a big fan of touchscreens

A bit expensive , but I think it's worth it for what you get, I would buy it in a snap if I had the money!

I have the screens set up in basic format and connectivity and then operate everything via voice or steering wheel when driving.

The lag at 32:20 is crazy. In some situations it could even be unsafe.

Thanks for this review Thomas. I am in the market soon for an SUV in this segment and your comments are helpful. Will compare the GLE, Cayenne, and Lincoln Aviator (in US) this Summer. On paper, the Q8 looks hard to beat. As sporting as your winter jacket!

Slow reaction to gas pedal is pretty major issue I have with these 3.0 TDI 210kW (Q7, Q8, A6 etc). My old Touareg 2010 3.0 TDI 176kW had much faster reactions :(

If you were going to go on a 15,000 Km road trip what would be most comfortable A8 or Q8?

As usual..... A very professional review and what an amazing car.... If I had the money to afford one it would be like this

V6 TDI
All the bells and whistles
And for sure the mighty panoramic sunroof
As for the review I'm not sure about those degital climate control it would be pleasing to having back the turning wheel like in the A3 simply designed and practical.... The boot wise yes the folding thing is a necessary why do I have to go around the car to fold the seats especially paying like 170 thousands euros

Hey Thomas, when will you guys start filming in 4k?
We can film in 4K since over 5 years. But we cannot upload 50 GB, for the last 500 uploads I did, I only had really good bandwidth probably just 4 or 5 times. Especially in German, the bandwidth is not sufficient.

So this suv is only good for highway because city wise you will be going to the gas station every day I mean bumper to bumper red light after red light so do they have like a better fuel tank size for the q8

Please no more to fake exhaust, gloss piano finish with the interiors, confusing nomenclature for all vehicles in 2019.
Also at least keep one or two "main" physical dials/buttons instead of looking for the controls on the menu/sub-menu system of the screen.
Q8 looking alright and very well packaged overall besides some annoyances mentioned above.

Which other Audi models come with the ambient lights? Does Q3 have it?
How is the wind whistle from the side mirrors Thomas? Besides the A1 and Q8, all other models have the side mirrors on the door. I have the A4, and it makes absolutely no noise from the sides, so I am wondering how it is having it back on the pillar. You said it is still very quiet, which suggests that it didn’t affect noise.

Stuck between this Q8 and A7. Which would you choose?
I saw a brand new Q8 on the Autobahn, of course passing me, it was whit in color with black rims, window tint and the audi night package... it is really something where you always turn your eyes at. A Q7 is more "main stream" but also the cheaper compromise.

@GreenTea they're both in similar process ranges and both gorgeous vehicles with the same interior. Leaning towards the A7 but a Q8 with red calipers and S line is gorgeous

A very handsome looking car that Q8 . Sporty design lines and i think is better looking than Q7 !
32:20 It takes a bit too long for the gearbox to shift down and finally accelerate, doesn't it? A bit strange that you didn't mention that, or maybe I missed it (I watched the whole video, which was great as usual).
That diesel is very noisy too in every car they use it on, but that's just a matter of preference I guess. In comparison, the more recent Mercedes diesels are very smooth and quiet.
The diesel indeed takes half a second until full torque is unleashed

What's the intro music?
One day I will understand why buyers prefer to have big heavy SUVs that have half-baked AWD systems (to save fuel) rather than to have lighter and more aerodynamical normal cars with proper all-time AWD that are more economical without any trickery. There are sadly only very few models left that offer that... Hopefully electric AWD cars will fill that void soon.

I have to say that I don’t like the filming from the window. Only half the cabin. Is it supposed to be a drivers eye view? I don’t think this would be preferable to an SQ7. The 4.0 engine would be better.
When there is no panoramic roof it is as good as it gets from the camera angle. I will not start putting a camera on my head while driving ;-)
Does this suv understeer more than it’s competitors? Because...Audi...engine on front axle.....

Thomas, the Alcantara seats are keeping really warm during summer so I wouldn’t recommend. I understand your messages about sustainability but let’s face the truth
Sweating less on alcantara than on animal leather. Fabric stays coolest though!
