Elvis was once asked "What's it like, being the best singer in the world." His reply was,"I don't know. You'd better ask Roy Orbison."

Roy Kelton Orbison. NO-one but no-one does heart-break and despair like the Big O. No-one like him before or after. An original. a voice without compare even back in the 50s and 60s . Such desolate despair with that Texan drawl. The man from Wink in Texas. Love his voice and his demeanour. A very humble man with the voice that spoke the truth. Thank you for your reaction

I remember, in 1964 (I think), when I was 12 years old, I was watching 'Sunday Night at the London Palladium' on our little black and white TV set. This programme was live (and therefore time limited) and was the biggest show on TV in the UK. That night was special because The Beatles were the headline act, which went on last. The act before The Beatles on that show was Roy Orbison, and he had such an impact that the audience demanded repeated encores and curtain calls from him. The Beatles were in the wings on the stage and were getting agitated because the longer Roy stayed out, the shorter time they would have to perform. Eventually they acted and, as Roy was about to go out for another curtain call, they grabbed him and then went out themselves. Of course, it didn't affect the later relationship they had with Roy and they were mutually admiring of each other's talents. So much so that Roy and George Harrison later teamed up in the 'super group' 'The Travelling Wilburys'.

Someone mentioned Roy Orbison with the Travelling Wilburys which was a group of friends that got together to sing. The members were Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne-mega super group!. Roy Orbison passed away shortly after recording Handle with Care with them. You will love that too!
