Ok,I need to clear something up. It is not true that this came first. It is listed as coming out in like,79 but it is not true. It's marketing. They basically had like a fragrance under that name but it was not anything like that at all. Similar to how Perry Ellis has several self-titled" Perry Ellis" fragrances that are all different. I believe they posted the date on sites to confuse people and help marketing. In other words they did not have a le male smelling version of Cuba gold in 79. They may have had a fragrance called cuba gold at that time but it did not smell like le male. Some have speculated that they didn't even have anything out at all and it was just posted for marketing purposes. I read a few articles on this and saw a couple videos addressing this. And as a few of those sources have pointed out many ingredients in this fragrance weren't even around at that time and they did no fragrances of this style during that period of time anyway. But for some reason people think le male copied Cuba gold or that Cuba had a Fragrance with that exact smell in the 70s. Unfortunately it's not true it's just hype and misinformation. Both are decent fragrances by the way
Le Male has been reformulated so many times that now it's basically Cuba Gold plus synthetic mint. As someone who owned Le Male I find it a bad purchase as long as Cuba is here.
Lol people always point this out i guaranteed you cuba gold did not smell the way it does now in 1979 it was reformed to smell like le male at some.point aftee la male release
It probably would be more expensive to have two separate formulations than to just put the same fragrence in two different bottles. They manufacturing costs of these types of fragrences are extremely low, and there really isn't much financial incentive to "water down" a formulation. If your two bottles are made in different locations, that could be the reason for the difference, although I don't notice any.
I'm thinking of adding this to my rotation... Me, I like fragrances but I don't make it the center of my life... me I like to have two or three that I rotate and currently I only have two Versace blue Jean and Aspen by coty... And this this would round out these two... I also have two others that are more of a body spray type of stuff that I really do like and I use when I'm really tight on money, brovo Sierra Citrus and Cedarwood and Victory by Tapout.... Cedarwood one is for when I'm out camping I don't want to smell good it's in a wildlife to the point where they try to eat me😂... and the Victory one from Tapout is just a cheapy body spray but I really love the scent but it only lasts about an hour.... and I do have one I buy once in a blue moon which is diesel for life, but as you can tell I don't really spend more than 20 ish dollars on sprays, so this is one I only ware here and there just for the Nostalgia..... But if there was one question I could ask somebody in your position where you have some knowledge about fragrances, it would be, what is the closest thing to the Tapout Victory body spray that's not going to cost me an arm and a leg..
And by far the most thorough and best review I have ever seen. I don't need to go elsewhere. Thank you so much. I can't believe there's another fragrance enthusiastic out there. You did a wonderful job!
Cuba Gold is a solid frag. The whole clone topic aside, it's a great one to keep in the gym bag, car, or at your desk at work as a "just in case". I get a baby powder vibe from it and while I typically find that off putting (looking at you Burberry Touch 👎🏼) I actually enjoy this one. I'd be hard pressed to find another frag at the $7 range that smells just as nice. Great video Sean.
@@jackaroofragranceguru If you can't afford to risk losing a $5-7 frag for the sake of convenience, then you should be saving your money rather than wasting it on frags.
@@supremotabako the Cuba gold after going bad in your car would only be useful for masturbation in the rear end. Maybe it is a good idea to leave it in the car, pretty convenient
I agree. It's worth it for the price and was one of my first fragrances. I loved it til my nose expanded. Cuba Gold smells like a cheap house cleaner. . Fabuloso!
Good review. My only problem with this cologne is the lack of the lack of performance, projection, and the scent is a little too feminine for my liking (if it’s on your clothes and not your skin when it’s on your skin I feel like it smells like birch beer soda). Smells great (if you don’t mind it not being as masculine) but people need to be relatively close to smell it. Overall for price can’t go wrong but not something I personally would wear everyday. Maybe better as a backup or car cologne
I started my journey with fragrances like this. Cuba has a few very good ones and this is one. I did also like the prestige line like platinum and black.
The really confusing thing is I do have a Ross near me which I need to check out again but I also have a Burlington Coat Factory but Burlington never carries any of this brands for some reason but did you carry most of the time my favorite curve but it's hard to find when it is available because it sells out quick you can get any curve at Burlington most times for about 14 something
When I compared Cuba gold to le male side by side I noticed a significant difference in the prominence of the vanilla, le male being stronger in that regard. Anyone else notice that?
I picked up the 4 pack gold, blue, red, orange. Blue and gold are the best in the box. It’s a solid frag, it’s cheap. It was $10 for 4 cigar bottles. Plus I like the presentation!😉
Out of all the clones i bought online, the cuba gold is the only one i love and wear till today. Not overpowering and last all day. I tried the cuba winner and its probably the worst cologne I've tried in my life. Bottle is still full today since i dont use it. Great review.✌️👍🙏
I guess I'm going to have to go to Ross I only at one point but lost it I just found the Cuba Prestige original which is pretty amazing on Amazon but then again I think I overpaid but well it's on there also this is on there too are you needs about 6 Sports and you're good

I bought this a couple days ago, and have tested it out a few times. The opening note is very clean. But as soon as it drys down, I couldn’t help but think it smelled like piss on my skin. Ultimately I have come to agree with another comment in here, this smells like a cheap household cleaner. I should’ve learned my lesson from purchasing Cuba prestige black. But I heard good reviews on this one so I gave it a shot, and really wanted to like it. Ironically I think it was worth the investment, because I now know what cheap smells like. And I do like the tacky bottles to add to my collection. If Le Male smells anything like this, it will be a hard pass as well, because this is impressively bad.
Spray cuba on someone else, let it dry and see how it really smells for people around. It might be a different experience than sniffing own wrist. It also might be a bad batch,
No it definitely stinks on the skin dry down. I still want to try JPG, I’m hoping it’s different in that regard but still smells like the initial Cuba gold notes sprayed on paper.
This cologne is pure garbage... Just being honest. If u wanna smell good i don't think a $8 cologne would do the trick. Cuba gold doesn't smell pleasant to me.
