Going to the Ouchita forest in Ar this weekend and will try this method while we try our luck fishing. We're not taking food or water. Just survival tools and knowledge. Thanks for the vid!
Nice! I have caught some rabbits up here in Michigan with a normal tree-spring snare but I've never even thought of catch squirrel. Thanks a lot, I've been using so many of your videos I think I'll have to buy a hat, again thanks
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. I learned something by watching it. I got interested in hunting/trapping squirrels since a couple of years ago. Not by choice; they started raiding my fruit trees and causing all sorts of other trouble around my house. I have used an electric trap, a Duke #110 bodygrip trap, and my pellet rifle. So far, I think the electric trap (designed for rats) worked the best against the squirrels. I have to try snaring them next. Squirrels ARE SMART; you have to mix those things up.
I have a similar trap but it involves a claymore mine and a 155 mm Howitzer( we have awfully large squirrels her in Franklin County Virginia). It is relatively humane, but doesn't leave much to eat.
What is the best bait to use with this snare? By the way awesome idea! Also just watched your "Making Jerky in the Wild" video. I plan on putting both of these into practice this upcoming year!
First of all love your vids, the Atlatls were AWESOME! I notice you said that you don't want the snare to strangle the animal. Does is break their neck like a hanging? I saw another video where the person said their snare does "choke" the animal. I've never snared before so could you elaborate a little on this please?
Squirrels in gravy , rice and biscuits !!! A country boy can survive !!!
