      Replace it putting new boards and wiring harness to get it back together and find exv or fan motor shorted out

    I have dealt with mouse damage on a hand full of Carrier mini split out door units. Usually seems to be spring time calls for no AC. Usually seems to be for folks that use them for AC only and use another source for heat. Year round users seem to not have mouse problems or at least in Cleveland OH area.

    On Mini splits, Try to wait at least 5-10 mins before touching anything electrical. The capacitors can hold high voltage

    replace the unit or every wire and both boards I say the unit

  • @mattl643
    @mattl643 2 месяца назад +3

    Between the time it'll take to drop all new boards and wiring in that thing it might be more cost effective to change the unit.

    Wow mouse destruction seems easier to sell homeowner replacement out door unit seal up any and all openings on new unit with some plumbers putty 🧐🤔

    They're lucky they never feasted on the inverter board. They would have been in for an *electrifying* surprise had they tried haha

    I wonder if the Homeowners Insurance by the Homeowner minus his High Deductible ? Prayers, Good Thoughts and Well Wishes for your Son. 👍🙏❤️

    That is the biggest headache and the biggest problem with minis they don’t take into consideration that every unit is not installed on a skyscraper wall!! as they are becoming more and more popular for rural installations. When ever we install a new unit?? (especially) in the country setting we use a heavy application of 100% silicone every crack and crevice that a mouse might possibly get their nose started.. do they chew on the silicone? Oh yeah, but very seldom do they get in because I think they get tired of chewing and not gaining much… as far as the condenser area?? There’s not a whole lot you can do in that section, but if they have big drain holes, replace a piece on the screen over the whole and silicone it in place it’s a real pain in the butt and labor intensity, but I hate, let me repeat this. I hate slicing wires and cleaning up mouse crap off the computer board. But we can only do what we can do.❤

    More brilliant engineering by the "save the planet" gang. Let's put a ton of sensitive electronics OUTSIDE exposed to the elements and let's use that new wiring that's insulated with that "planet saving " vegetable based insulation that RODENTS just love to feast on....... BRILLIANT!!

    • @eDoc2020
      @eDoc2020 2 месяца назад +1

      The designers are part of the "let's make this thing cheap" gang. It's cheap and easy for all the internals to be in the outdoor unit. If you put the electronics inside but kept the compressor outside you'd need much more convoluted wiring.
      Plant-based wiring is a potential issue but once again it's cheaper than petroleum based insulation. It has nothing to do with environmental concerns, that's just an excuse the manufacturers use.
