  • The Unexplored Region - Hozu river boat ride (保津川下り)
What is your impression of Kyoto?
You would probably imagine some historical sceneries such as Kiyomizu temple, Fushimi Inari and so on.
Those places are the most popular places in Kyoto where almost everybody visits. But, the other attraction of Kyoto is that you can see the dynamic nature in the unexplored regions by a riding a traditional boat.
Hozu river boat ride (保津川下り) has been used as a critical transportation from Middle western part to the central Kyoto by local people for nearly 400 years. Since the spread of new vehicles such as trains and cars, those boats has been used as touristic vehicles to take tourists to the beautiful sceneries.
When I rode the boat, it was in the beginning of April and there weren’t many leaves or flowers, but man, everything I saw was just epic. Hope you see a bit of it in my video!

This Movie was so beautiful I really really think that you deserve to be more popular, it has feelings and emotions.
The camera views and the cuts are just perfect.
I like the slowdown moments and the music was fitting as well.
The only thing i did not like was the font type in the end but that is just a tiny part of a very, very beautiful film and pls keep do what u do because u have talent.

Great looking video! Do you plan on doing other unexplored region videos?
Lived in Kyoto prefecture for five years and never did this. It was something that I wanted to do but never got around to actually doing it.

Looks like fun but kinda scary considering they had no gear on at all. One mistake with a rigid boat like those and a rock would easily break it sending all those people into the river without life preservers. Guess that adds to the excitement though. This would never be allowed in the US.

      No problem.
It has been running for 400 years the boat rides.
There are no deaths of customers until now.You should ride when you come to Japan.

I guess that makes sense. If I ever visit that area I would definitely love to give it a try.
