Very nice my man. Looking great. Can't wait to see it painted and finished. I love videos/mods like this, a real inspiration to try something different. Well done mate.
Thanks. Personally i like making running videos but for these things i'm gladly making exceptions :) Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the endresult.
Didn't get a chance to watch the complete video. But that looks AMAZING!! A scorcher is on my bucket list 👍✌️. Thanks for sharing! I'm going to finish watching 👀. SUBBED 👍
Yeah, the problem is, you have 1! That classifies YOU as being a consumer. You WILL ONLY ENDUP DESTROYING THE PRODUCT. How long is a piece of string? How long can you drive a car for? How long till rubber begins to return back to being oil? How long till plastic disintegrates? Back in 1979, plastic was only 4 years into being sold to the public in large quantities. How reliable can a 4 year old production item be? There's good PROFESSIONAL REASONS WHY this product has been COMPLETELY REBUILT and is being sold at the moment. You're only supposed to use the car for 1 year, and you should have bought 3 of each model you intend to drive!!! If you're a professional racer, you MUST BUY 6 units of each car you drive. If you want FACTORY PRODUCTION, you MUST buy ALOT of units to keep production going. If you don't, then you're buying HAND MADE CARS. Which COSTS YOU MORE TIME AND MONEY and each car is unique. It's STUPID to buy mass production and then try to make the object unique. You're antisocial human if you do that buying theory and you'll have nowhere to use the object.
To be hounest, i didn't have a clue how to make them but i started with making templates from thin cardboard. a Lot of time went into the bending, cutting and shaping of the alluminium sheet untill everything fitted corrwctly. There's an annotation at 2:30 for a sort of how-to video.

Awesome details Huib! Its done really very wel! Almost shame to take it out for a ride..So many houers of excelent workmanship! Thumbs up mate!!! I dont see a lot doing such details and spend so much time in it..fantastic! I just too like again reply to al your great coments.I try al; what you say..but it just dont work..so I guess its really messed up very wel here on youtube..I wish,Google never did this..They ruined a great comunity! Thanks for al your nice coments by this way!! Thumbs up for it! :-)
Haha, it's getting close to a shelfqueen :) i Have another one that i use for offroad and this one will go with me to Beetle meetings. Some RUclipsrs have posted the comment problem on the forums but so far i haven't seen a good solution. RUclips used to be simple and fun :-(
You can get them here: www.shapeways.com/product/95C926FCG/sr20001-mk2-srb-main-engine-part-1-of-2?li=nav&optionId=16514801 www.shapeways.com/product/H8VLVKQLF/sr20002-mk2-srb-main-engine-detail-part-2-of-2?li=nav&optionId=16464126 They have a lot more special parts for all kinds of RC cars!
3D printing will resurrect the Hobby for the better!!! That engine kit is so cool, it's CRAZY! I will check his store. I am want to see if he makes a Porsche flat 6!! 😲😲😲 Awesome looking buggy! I love the wheel well idea. I will have to try that. I'm trying to get enough money for a Scorcher.... I hear though, that the shocks are shit! Do you agree? Have you replaced yours?
Thanks! It's certainly a great addition to the Scorcher. They have a twin turbo flat 6 Porsche engine, front and rear wheel wells and lots more. I haven't noticed anything bad about the shocks so far. They're not as effective as modern ones, but that just adds to the realistic driving character of the buggy. Tamiya upgraded the seals though. Since they're so called 'emulsion shocks', they should not be filled completely with oil. If all of the air is removed, they will leak.
I'm going to have to find other stores..... I didn't see very many parts for classic Tamiya trucks and buggies. 😕 There are some really cool Blackfoot1/Frog parts, and some for Sand Scorcher. I need more options, since I'm starting again from scratch.
+mathew rome Here's the link for the Mk 2 engine (part 1 of 2); www.shapeways.com/product/95C926FCG/sr20001-mk2-srb-main-engine-part-1-of-2?li=nav&optionId=16514801 Here's part 2 of 2 for the Mk 2 engine; www.shapeways.com/product/H8VLVKQLF/sr20002-mk2-srb-main-engine-detail-part-2-of-2?li=nav&optionId=16464126 You'll find the prices for these parts there too.
I dislike the body mount front post sticking through and the rear mount screws and mount, why doesn't the roll cage reach the roof, the screw's need an oil cooler and lines to cover the screws.
I agree. Those things bother me too. I have been thinking about making an oil cooler on the roof to cover up those screws, and since it's a car that's never finished, i'll eventually make one (and a roll cage).
That's a shame, they have a lot of accessories. Most of the engine parts were alright. I hope they don't make a habbit of selling bad fitting parts, it will give the company a bad name over time.
If you're going to be using $30,000 worth of technology to be fixing up a design which has KNOWN suspension GEOMETRY PROBLEMS, then you should realise you're wasting everyone's time and money! Your object REALLY IS old and you don't waste anymore time on it! You're going to have ALOT OF 'down time' with this product. You didn't buy in ENOUGH QUANTITY. Once you stop being a consumer, you'll begin to realise you wasted YOUR time and ours, and your money and ours. Consumers are ANTISOCIAL HUMAN BEINGS.
You're an asshole. I think what he's doing is awesome. I have a Sand Scorcher and didn't build it to go fast. That's what my 109mph Infraction is for. I built the SS because that's what I enjoy it. I'm just wondering, do you feel better after leaving your rude ass comment?
Thank you for sharing the build of this engine and the little tips to make sure it fits perfectly. Very informative.

Thanks alex. Can't wait to finish the painting :D
Groetjes, Huib
I've got a original one and watching these videos wants me to fix my one. It needs about 2 parts and electronics
Denis lane Thanks for the compliment :) They're worth fixing and driving . The re-released parts fit the classic Scorchers.

Very cool indeed. The wheelwells are an inspired idea. Thought about it but no idea where to start. A how too would be very usefull buddy

Knight Customs Thanks for the great feedback and for subscribing!
Nice mods on the Scorcher!
Thanks Matteo :)
It does look great the 3D printed stuff, its a little pricey but so worth it.
daz1975ify Indeed it's a little pricy but the Scorcher will look so much better :D
Just put a photo of mine on my page its a Brat base with a monster beetle/scorcher body.
daz1975ify Looks awesome! i Love the "sticker" at the rear, lol!
Nice work....looks ace....
Who made the engine moulds?

Can you 3D print leaving a smooth surface as it takes some time to smooth all the visible course finish to get a real visual effect.
I have no clue, never seen a smooth 3D printed surface before.

A superb modification :-)
Where did you source the 3D parts from Sir? Are they still available? How expensive were they?
Many thanks in advance :-)

And thanks for watching :)
Thank you very much Mister 2 Stroke :-) Excellent videos too. Very informative and interesting to watch. Good, relaxing viewing too.
My pleasure sir, glad i could help. It's my intention to keep my videos as pleasant for the eyes as possible so thanks for the great feedback!

I need to go look at their store! Wheel wells too - AND the Porsche motor cover? ? 😲
Yes, and roofracks, nerf bars, floorpans. I believe it's some kind of open source thing where anyone can send their designs to.
I'm going to have to find other stores..... I didn't see very many parts for classic Tamiya trucks and buggies. 😕 There are some really cool Blackfoot1/Frog parts, and some for Sand Scorcher. I need more options, since I'm starting again from scratch.
Sorry, where can I buy this engine? Thanks in advance!
+mathew rome Hi, The parts are made by a company called Shapeways.

The8sidedcircle . Thanks buddy, nice to hear at my age, hahahaha!
so how did you do the wheel wells??
I made those from aluminium sheet.
2stroke4me thanks for the reply
