Amazing video, you work for 40 years to have $1 million in retirement, while some people are only investing $10k in trading just a few months ago and are now multimillionaires
A very helpful and clear video. I am starting my investment journey and I bringing my friends along. so I watch your videos to digest and explain better to my friends in UK. Thanks Chidera.
Thank you Chidera for sharing this video, I always watch your finance videos, and I have learnt and acted on them and they always yeilds. So thanks again!
Really insightful, can I ask what criteria you consider for picking your stocks and funds. I understand some are quite obvious from your video, but do you have a list e.g - Market performance overtime - Map cap (fund size) - Website that provide market analysis - Financial resource you leverage on etc
90% of my portfolio is with Plum money app which is the investing app I use but they charge fees to invest now so it’s not the best. I’m considering moving my entire portfolio to a different app. Here’s the link to Plum prf.hn/click/camref:1011l3Tbxs
Understand your goals before you start, long term or short term? want dividend or accumulate your dividend. You can start with as little as £10 per month. Thread carefully because you can lose money. If you're new to this, ETF is a safe pad. Avoid fees if you're starting new, Vanguard has charges but you can get their fund on other free platform. Going into stocks? Try reading up about specific stock, the company and their trend over time. You will own fractional shares, you build over time. Diversity your portfolio, if one company is going red in a day, other are green which keeps you earning balanced.
Your funds are overlapping. You think you are diversified but your diversification are still revolving around similar companies. For example, your Microsoft, Nvidia and co, share the bulk of your 29+% invested in S&P 500. You may consider excluding high weighted stocks in S&P from your dividend paying stocks. NFA. Investing in actual Gold is a good one, not the paper contract aka fund. NFA.
Yeah I agree with this. Which is why I said I was gonna rebalance. For example I owned a lot of the Nvidia stock last year then drastically reduced it as I noticed it had a high weighting in the S&P 500, so yeah thanks for the feedback 👍🏽
Thanks for being kind to show us your investment choices. Please I would like to know if you buy this funds ( put money) on monthly basis despite the volatility of the markets?

Good morning Chi. Thanks for sharing your experience, please how do i purchase stocks, bond and funds? I have moneybox currently but need guidance on how to buy stocks, bonds and fund. thank you for your support.
I know this is for Childera, but I will give you my experience with some apps I have been using. Moneybox is good for LISA and saving but it’s a bit expensive for stocks, platform fees, management fees etc but other apps like trading 212 are more affordable. It offers both etfs and individual stocks. Vanguard was ok but has introduced a monthly fee but this one is for funds, bonds and etfs. Invest engine is for etfs only and doesn’t charge any fee to use their platform. You can go ahead and watch RUclips videos about investing. Do not copy what they do but just to learn how to start.
The ones that pay dividends will have dist on them meaning distributing. As Chidera said, the ones that re-invest your dividends have acc meaning accumulating.
Thanks Sen Sis 😊 Good to hear from you. I invest more on stocks, haven't invested on funds, maybe I will take a closer look at it this year. Thanks again ❤
Thanks for sharing your insight. Why do you invest in more stable assets like bonds and gold if you have a very long term horizon? Personally, I would have thought you let stocks do the heavy lifting and generate the growth (although volatile). Maybe a few years towards when you will be needing the money, you can start rebalancing with gold and bonds to get stability... Just my thoughts.
Good observation! If you also noticed I said last year I had a heavy weighting of stocks to funds before rebalancing it. As you can imagine, I’m also still tryna find the right balance for my portfolio. I intend to rebalance this year and have probably like 20% stocks
@@ChideraPeters thank for the response, we are all learning everyday. You are on the right track, just by investing at all as many people don't even invest at all... So well done and good luck. I started my journey 5 years ago mainly investing on low cost well diversified index fund through vanguard and it's been one of the best decisions. All the best.

Very good information you just dished out. I think knowing when to buy stocks and funds is also important. Some people buy stocks/funds when the price is high and they are discouraged to keep going when price comes down.
You can’t predict the stock market. Just invest and pound cost average when stock prices fall and if you’re in it for the long term, it will pay out. I started investing in 2021 when the stock market was high, dropped in 2022 and I kept buying and now the market has surpassed the rise in 2022. In the long run, the stock market will rise.
Hi 👋🏾 that’s called timing the market and it’s not the best approach to investing. Rather invest regularly with consistent amounts regardless of the market conditions. This is called dollar cost averaging
@@ChideraPeters that’s what I wanted to say but didn’t bring it well. Yes it’s true you can’t time the market. It’s always good to be in it for the long time to get benefits.
