You'd never remember me, but several years ago I had found you playing this song (I believe on a Yamaha strat?). At the time, you'd told me you were really more of a drummer. I showed that video to several people and frequently put it on for company that followed me home after bar close. My eyes bugged out when you began coming up in my feed the other day and I realized it was you making all these videos now. Very, very happy for you. All the best from your past.. Ty... :)
haha well thanks Ty! Glad to hear I didn't escape your memory :) That must have been a very long time ago if I felt that I was more of a drummer then a guitar player.
+landon schweitzer Not sure if that's such a good idea. No disrespect to Rob but this isn't exactly the most musically developed piece of music you can play. There's just a lot of repeated phrases and such. That's not ineherently a bad thing, it's what most people listen to Rob for, that ''tidiness'' to his songs. But for a college audition it would probably be a good idea to play something that shows a greater understanding of how chords relate to emotions and how to manipulate them to get the emotional response you want. I'd recommend you play something bluesy like Little Wing (SRV Version) Though you shouldn't take my advice too seriously. I've only been at this for just over half a year and I have no idea what the college audition scene is actually like so just do whatever you feel confident doing.
landon schweitzer Well you'll need to play something that shows off your ability as well as your passion. Between the two passion is probably the most important. If you show that you love what you're doing the interviewers are bound to pick up on it. (this isn't exclusive to auditioning it's just how people work) Just look at basically any live performance of Stevie Ray Vaughan and you'll get my point. Really anything that makes you charismatic and memorable is good. So to make this easier for you I have to recommend you to stand up when playing. As for what to actually play,I have no idea :P Play something in which you're free to explore the tempo a little (rest on some notes, go faster on others, et cetera) But also a song which you understand on the basis of music theory. Really you should just go with a piece of music you love and feel secure experimenting a little in. I'm a bit biased so of course I'm going to suggest blues rock jazz but that's only because I love playing it. Sorry if I haven't been too helpful. About a year ago I moved away from the place that felt the most like home to me (Vienna Austria) to come to America. I lived there for 4 years and they were the best 4 years of my life. As I said goodbye to my best friend across those years, we hugged and the emotions of 4 years of ups and downs flowed through us and we both burst into uncontrollable tears. That was my “second”. When I hear this song I imagine it as one moment where everything is ok, for that second. And that is mine.
I watch this every New Years because it calms me down from thinking of how fast time can pass and it makes me appreciate my life and what I have and the people that I know and care for me
this song is so incredibly beautiful, for me this represents the but apreciating a moment, like the sounds view from that building, just by yourself. im almost sure this wasnt the meaning behind this song but is what i take from it

the thing that I like the most about this video is the way the city sounds appear in the beginning and in the end of this wonderful song. I'm also amazed by the connection of this music and this city vibes... Nice work, Rob, to more great musics in future ;)
I don't know why, but I always start crying when I listen to this song, for no particular reason! Maybe it's because so beautiful. Love this masterpiece.
Thank you for the track Rob, I never felt so much ease from reminiscing a moment from the past. Thank you for helping me shed the tears I thought I didn't have anymore. And keep playing, for sure I will be listening to all your tracks.
I listened throughout my life many very virtuous guitarists, but without being lick boots I think you are the best guitar player I listen , for the devotion to the music, to the harmony, full of technique, incredibly! LOL thank you for so many incredible music bro!
I remember watching this video for the first time, 8 years ago, when I was a sad 14 years old boy hidden in his room playing guitar. You changed my life forever that day, Rob, you showed me that there was a different world for guitar based music. One day, in my wildest dreams, I'll be half the composer you are
Usually I don't like videos, it's just not me. This really forced me to, coming back to this video 5 years after I first saw it and just that rushing nostalgia feeling, honestly beautiful. Love it Rob, glad you're still doing it.
To me Minecraft is no regular game. It's more like you live out your creativity. A digital sheet of paper. Doesn't matter, I even like the soundtrack way more than the game itself.

This song gets me through rough times. Thank you Rob Scallon for existing.
This song is really amazing, so beautiful and touchin. Hi from Colombia, today you have a new fan :D
:O
Colombia!!!!!!!!! :D :D
This song makes me feel calm. I have clinical anxiety so that's not a common thing for me to say. Thank you Rob
5 years later, i hope you’re doing better.
It's been 6 years, I hope and pray that you're doing better.
Talking to my sweetheart whilst listening to this.............. just makes me wanna cuddle her and say i love her x3
She djents though right?
elipses dotdotdot HAHA sure
+TheManwithafan sounds like a keeper then
That's awesome man. It's beautiful to see that music can have that effect on people.
It reminds me why I love music so much. :D
And that is mine.
anchor was the soundtrack to a vacation to europe that i took last summer. this song played while we were walking up the berlin wall and OH the feels
Hey man! Keep doing what you're doing. You're a total inspiration to me as a solo guitarist. \m/
Thanks Anthony :)
Really taking that “song without words” idea to the next level
He played on the roof years before playing on the roof became even a thing.
The Beatles, bro come on
@@jeanmember meh, I was on my way to write that

Have you ever heard of a band called, The Beatles. If you haven’t go check them out, they ain’t half bad.
Very true, this has big quarantine vibes
Woke up from a dream and this song was still playing in my mind. Had to look it up to hear it one more time before going to work ❤
I watch this every New Years because it calms me down from thinking of how fast time can pass and it makes me appreciate my life and what I have and the people that I know and care for me
You play it like a piano. That is great. Little cold out there that day?
Much thanks! and yes, it was very very cold.

I was terrified that he would.
In Bloom?
He is the one nope me too
He is the one I think we all were
this song is so incredibly beautiful, for me this represents the but apreciating a moment, like the sounds view from that building, just by yourself. im almost sure this wasnt the meaning behind this song but is what i take from it
Its so nice to look back at rob and see that he never changed from being a great musician but that is for the best because he is my favorite artist and truly one of the most talented people ive ever discovered and I also call you the cool uncle of music because rob scallon really does seem like that one cool uncle
Is it possible to get a physical copy of any of Rob's albums? I know that you can get mp3 files for them but I'd love a physical copy! (:
They're on DFTBA
store.dftba.com/collections/rob-scallon
Kane Oakley ii

Kane Oakley you can burn the mp3 files onto a cd
Adrian Lopez it's not the same
I could never be able to record up there! I'd fall down instantly lol

December. it was very very cold.
Rob Scallon A clap to you Rob for putting yourself on that ledge :o How high was it ?
very
it's crazy, you can see the snow falling in some of the close-up shots
tagima I have played in the cold before and the skin peeled off my fingers
the thing that I like the most about this video is the way the city sounds appear in the beginning and in the end of this wonderful song. I'm also amazed by the connection of this music and this city vibes... Nice work, Rob, to more great musics in future ;)
I don't know why, but I always start crying when I listen to this song, for no particular reason! Maybe it's because so beautiful. Love this masterpiece.
This is like a perfect mixture of Scatterbrain, The Zephyr Song and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You.
Had to scroll quite far down the comments for someone to mention the zephyr song. Sounds a lot like it.
the intro reminds me a little about the zhepyr song, GREAT SONG!
i want this to play at my wedding when i walk down the isle. not a joke
That would be beautiful
JoeAdlington Exactly.
Don't invite me then, a suicide at a wedding is what I believe to be a little traumatic.
Me too
Do it
Thank you for the track Rob, I never felt so much ease from reminiscing a moment from the past. Thank you for helping me shed the tears I thought I didn't have anymore. And keep playing, for sure I will be listening to all your tracks.
@robscallon loved that time you played for that second the ride home in 2009 14 years ago it was beautiful

Asriel Dreemurr Yeah, I wanna see how he's gonna djent those tunas.
petition for mojang to add this to minecraft 2
just make rob the music composer, he makes a lot of calming songs like this.
Huh, without the sound of demons tearing through this reality at the end, this song sounds really nice
I listened throughout my life many very virtuous guitarists, but without being lick boots I think you are the best guitar player I listen , for the devotion to the music, to the harmony, full of technique, incredibly! LOL thank you for so many incredible music bro!
8 years later and this song is still one of my favorite / most fun to play. And it always impresses
Greetings from Russia, you are the best buddy!
I sleep to this
I fall asleep in 1 second
He's playing the guitar that we were given in the second grade... decades ago...
If you were given an american fender strat in 2nd grade you had some rich ass parents.
brutalbeetle cost about $5
Jason Blundell I had one in high school, sunburst
+brutalbeetle It cost around £10.
That's wht fukin epic school
I remember watching this video for the first time, 8 years ago, when I was a sad 14 years old boy hidden in his room playing guitar. You changed my life forever that day, Rob, you showed me that there was a different world for guitar based music. One day, in my wildest dreams, I'll be half the composer you are
Usually I don't like videos, it's just not me. This really forced me to, coming back to this video 5 years after I first saw it and just that rushing nostalgia feeling, honestly beautiful. Love it Rob, glad you're still doing it.
what kind of music is this? i want more of it
It's called Talent & Emotion
Stream of Consciousness Music Performance
Check out TTNG, American Football and Explosions in the Sky
I would consider this to be post-rock. Check out the following bands for more : Mono, Mogwai, God Is An Astronaut.
moiUnenlagia thanks bro
Guess this could work well as a new soundtrack for the game Minecraft
not at all. this is a good song and minecraft is a shitty game.
To me Minecraft is no regular game. It's more like you live out your creativity. A digital sheet of paper. Doesn't matter, I even like the soundtrack way more than the game itself.
Koti Kissa Wow, you got all those great arguments to prove that Minecraft is bad, which was sold at more than 20 million copies.
vetlerradio selling copies dont make its not a argumernt to the cualitity of something, for example, how many copies of tolstoi books are selling this days and how many of twiglight or shades of grey?, there u got an argument that invalidate ur argurment
:)
***** My comment was more about the fact that this game is universaly loved, by the industry of internet machinima and other "Let's Play's" to the hardcore and casual gamers.
Uploaded on my birthday :)
Jaagg It's your present.
Same!
why do i keep coming back to this?....i love this song and i love this style...as a guitar player i can see how his piano playing skills come into play on this song...left and right hand syncopated...best song ever rob...keep it up!
It’s actually amazing how a piece of music that is so beautiful, and so emotional, and soulful can be made with only a guitar
fucking beautiful
fucking lovely ain't it.
Fucking right
Absofuckinlutly
I fucking agree
Seth Hamilton i coudnt fucking agree more
Beautiful song but all i could think was "where was this filmed?"
I think it’s Chicago
@@Nicksrgnt yup
okay, I'm going to chicago
My favorite of Rob's originals. So calming.
After all these years I still love this song so much! 😍
