going in a month, can't wait to get back to the moon palace... Been spoiling my self and been watching videos and looking at beaches photos on google haha. Great VIDEO, Rate 10/10 Will give thumbs up!!! =D
Thanks for a great review. We plan to visit Cancun in this summer. Your great review definitely helps us to decide and make reservation at Moon Palace resort!
Thanks so much for this. We are heading there in August and I wanted more information than the website seemed to offer. Appreciate the tip on asking for the nightly entertainment at the front desk.
I'm going between June and July. This will be my first time time there,However my family have been before and have tile me that this hotel is one of the best hotels/resort they have ever been in. Also, I think if anyone is thinking about booking up here, I would suggest being there for 4th July (independence day) as there is a huge foam party in the pool.
This is a great review. Considering how open and honest you are about everything, I'd like to know what, if any resorts you've visited, that you'd rate a Perfect 10/10? Thanks
We have a Palace Resorts membership and have been to Moon. Nice but I prefer the smaller resorts. We stayed at Moon in April 15 and then at PlayaCar. Glad you enjoyed.
Nice video!! The beginning the pictures say Nizuc lobby....but is actually Sunrise....just as your commentary says! I like it...it is factual and not only hallelujah!
i went in 2011 the nizuc room i stayed in had a hot tub and a fridge stocked full of beer and soda. it also had two queen size beds and the shower was really nice
It is most definitely free! In fact, when the bellboy brought our bags to our room on day #1, he gave us a 3 minute tour of the room and all the amentities, and he specifically showed us the liquor dispenser and told us it is free and unlimited, and if we run out, to simply call the concierge desk and they'll bring us more, as often as we wanted! Can be dangerous, for sure! haha
Only thing I didn't see mentioned in the review was how are the daily activities? Is there a entertainment crew at the pools and such ? Thanks. Love the review.
+briannwo1900 These guys are spot on. For your questions: we have 2 teens and a pre-teen. Been to the Palace Resorts over the last 6 years. Moon Palace is the best base (and family) resort you can stay at hands down. Btwn the 3 properties on this stretch, there is constant daily activities and entertainment. What I mean by base is, if you want to take your teen outside of the property because the resort candy isn't enough, you have a multitude of outings that the resort can assist with. We like hitting Tulum and Cobe ruins. Plan a full day for this type of adventure and you'll feel like you got to experience more of the real Yucatan. The resort itself is one of the most comfortable and safest resort environments for families and teens. So if you have just the week, the resort itself satisfies and will keep any couple or teen feeling like the time went by too fast.
I'm not sure about families only in Sunrise but it makes sense that they would do that. Yes, I tip at all the resorts I go. I leave a tip for the housekeepers everyday. Obviously the amount depends on quality of the job and effort put in. I like to tip the busboys as long as they aren't extremely pushy. I usually tip at restaurants. I tip some bartenders if they are good, fast and friendly. And I tip various others depending on the service provided.
Hi I just wanted to say thank you so very much for the detailed account of the resort. We are headed here in November for our friend's wedding and had initially booked a golf villa room not knowing how far that was from everything and since seeing your video we have decided to stay at the Grand section. I do have one question for you though...you mentioned it was a long walk over to the Nizuc pools and I was wondering if you could elaborate on how long it took you to walk over? Our friends will be staying in the Nizuc section unless some decide to go to the Grand like we have. We figure since we will be there a day before everyone we can check it all out and between wifi and grabbing room #'s when the rest of our group gets there we'll be able to meet up with everyone anyhow. Thanks again and if you have any other tips please do share! I think we're going to try to request for the building you stayed in.
Hi Jocelyn! I'll try and answer your question as best as possible. So, if you have other wedding guests staying in Nizuc, it will depend on WHERE in Nizuc they are staying to determine proximity/closeness. Since there are buildings in Nizuc right next to Grand, you could potentially be looking at a 2 minute walk. To walk from our room to the main sections of Nizuc (pool/lobby) it took a solid 10 minutes. Fastest way is to walk along the beach or the walkway that is closest to the beach. There is a very identifiable pier that is connected to the Nizuc beach.....use that as a landmark to determine how close you are while walking.....that's what we did. The building that housed our room was right next to the beach, so that made the walk quite convenient. While the rooms themselves at Grand were by far superior to the other sections, we definitely did find ourselves making our way to the other sections atleast once a day. You just have to decide if you want to walk it, or take the lobby to lobby buses....those come once every 10 minutes or so. Have fun!!!
Best review of Moon Palace hands down ! We are thinking about going the End of April with my 16 year old Son. Would he be kept entertained enough for a week travelling with just his parents? Any opinions from anybody would be helpful. thanks
We stayed here and this is a great resort. However there's a couple points that haven't been mentioned. 1) this resort is not actually in Cancun, it's south of Cancun and somewhat isolated. I don't recall exactly how many miles, but the point is you can't just walk across/down the street to eat or shop, etc. You will have to take a taxi or bus into Cancun. 2) This resort does not have a great beach. it's very narrow and frankly when we were there the beach was not well maintained. this wasn't important to us because we didn't intent to spend lots of time on the beach, but it may be important to others.
lou-anne korolischuk the Grand section was under construction when this video was made. I believe now the Grand section has higher rates, due to the completion of the water park within it.
This might be weird but how many cats did you see because I am terrified of them so I want to go where I can best avoid them!!!!!!!!!! If there are other countries that you have seen hardly any cats please let me know!
Looking fwd to doing a lot of traveling & referrinf my clients there! They are SO much better than the #Sandals properties. Bottom line...IT'S AWAY FROM ALL THE STRESS!!! Make sense?
What section are you looking to stay at? The Grand cost more than the Sunrise and Nizuc. I highly suggest staying at the Grand, because of all the new renovations. The Sunrise and Nizuc are magnificent as well! The pricing for the Sunrise and Nizuc can be found here: www.moonpalacecancun.com/en-us/accommodations. The pricing for the Grand can be found here: moonpalace.com/thegrand/en/accommodations. Enjoy your stay!
Great and in depth review.. My husband and I are looking for a nice honeymoon destination gift for our son. Is the pricing reasonable with air fare and accommodations? Do you use a specific travel agent?

Thanks so much for the nice comment. I really want people to see some honest opinions on resorts and not just built up hype.
thanks for the detailed review! how long did you stay? I'm going there in late May for a week, can't wait!!
Lol the flow rider definitely had me almost naked when it threw me to the top. My top went up and my bottoms went down!
i went in 2011 the nizuc room i stayed in had a hot tub and a fridge stocked full of beer and soda. it also had two queen size beds and the shower was really nice
Very Nice Review...
Great review!
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Great review! Except the Flowrider is located right next to the pools at sunrise, and mini golf is in-between Sunrise and Nizuc. :)
Great video
What month did you stay there ?
Wondering how busy it would be in August
thank you we will be there and that helps alot
Thanks for this info!! Cannot wait to go there in May!! And I hear the minibar is free of charge? If so dangerously fabulous!! ;)

Oh, and everything else is free too (pop, juice, snacks, coffee etc)

I have heard that they put families in the Sunrise area...true? Also did you tip at all while there? GREAT review..I even took notes! Thank you. :)
