- 1970’s Earth Rot, the final album in David Axelrod’s Capitol Trilogy, and the first of his solo releases to incorporate choral vocals, set the visionary composer/arranger/produer up for his final stage as an architect of jazz fusion and ensured that his productions would help future architects of hip hop.
Gatefold 2LP contains bonus second album with Earth Rot’s instrumentals, never before released.
This is the third Now-Again issue in a series of reissues centered around Axelrod’s Capitol Trilogy in 2018 - Song of Innocence saw release in April, and Songs of Experience was released in July.
Audiophile reissue, lacquered directly from Axelrod’s original master tapes at Capitol Records by Ron McMaster.
Contains oversized, 28 page booklet that delves into Axelrod’s incredible life and music, replete with never before published photos and an interview with Axelrod by Eothen Alapatt and Waxpoetic’s Brian Digenti.

Wow you can see how strong his son is. A lot of pain behind all the admiration.
Pretty insightful, Empress
So moving to see him reflect on his dad and his involvement in the record, it seems like it was not easy for him to talk about it. Thank you for sharing this!
wow, he looks EXACTLY like his father. Nice guy....
Can’t wait to purchase the final chapter! Thank you Egon & Axelrod Family. And thank you Don Randi.
one of my favourite albums. glad to see the care and attention on this reissue.
I must say the sound on just these clips puts my old vinyl to shame. Congratulations.
Oh God I cannot explain how much I LOVE this album.
Thanks for this-I love all things Axelrod and it is fascinating to see his son.
Thank you Egon!
I bet it irritates the hell out of artists when everyone thinks your first album was your best work. For me, 'Songs of Innocence' is still my favorite. Followed by 'Earth Rot'. Years ago I sold my copy of 'Songs of Experience'. I regret that now. These days, I can't imagine selling 'Songs of Innocence' or 'Earth Rot'.
damn them genes are super strong .
I would love to know what Michael feels about the significance this album has now, as more people care about the environment. It's quite a bit ahead of its time.
Put the phone down, kid.
He could give a shit.
Thank you Ron McMaster
Kind of heard to say you arent his son when you are the spitting image of him lol
He was talking about someone else named Ronald, put yr ears on
He didn't. he was talking about the guy who he was led to believe was his father until he was 14 when his grandfather told him that his father was actually David Axelrod.
