Music video by Pino Palladino, Blake Mills, Sam Gendel performing Just Wrong (Live). A New Deal Records/Impulse! Records release; © 2021 Verve Label Group, a Division of UMG Recordings, Inc.
Pino is using the Analog Alien ABS - Alien Bass Station, pedal in this session. It is such an honer to have him in our galaxy of amazing artists.
honer clavinet
word
I was trying to figure out what that was. Thanks. I'd love to know what amp he's actually playing through here? or is there a bass amp behind the gobo? Sounds really nice, anyway.
What does it matter? 🤷🏾♂️
Hohner Pianet
Pino is so good at not over embellishing. He just plays it, just right, right on the dot.
or just delicately behind the beat like here
That man can do more with one note than most players could do with eight
@@bonydanza7046 LOL everyone knows there aren't 8 notes, there are only 6 notes and 2 of them are the same. There's A, B, C , 3, H and then it's back to B again. Learn theory before you talk shit, amateur.
That must have been a really inspiring sip of red wine in the very beginning. I’ll try that for myself later.
Damn. It's like 80's King Crimson smoked a phatty with Pat Metheny Band. Pino is a friggin' God. This was so unbelievably goooooooooood.
description of the day
Pino & Pat-nice
And that's why Pino is my favorite bassist ever
This is soul music... The emotions stirring in me from being immersed in this are powerful. Music is medicine, very inspiring..
I couldn't have even wished for music this good
perfectly put, my feeling exactly
Everyone serving the song, and not themselves.
Stunning.
This is real. So much stuff is just an excuse to make money, but this. This is real. What a lil gift to the world. Thank you guys for sharing!
Shout out to Blake Mills for using his platform, financial and creative freedom to make some real music and not selling out in a lame way like some producers do. Thank you Blake! This is beautiful!! Can't wait for the full record
Pino in more in tune on a fretless than me on a fretted bass
I'm late to the party, but I'm so glad this session happened. cheers
What a lineup
To the 11 people that dislike this video: is everything ok there?
hmmm can´t be, coz they don´t share your taste... :-)
Those types... imho, are just.... wrong.
What. A. Gift. Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you.
What I would give to be the inanimate Neumann head shaped microphone just chillin in the middle of these three
Wow. You hooked me with the very first 4 decades of seconds.!
Love it.!
For those wondering how Blake got those wild pitch bending guitar effects - he is playing a very rare Roland GR-303 guitar and GR-300 polyphonic guitar synthesizer (the giant blue thing on the ground). I think he is tapping the pitch buttons on it to transpose / harmonize what he is playing. Super strange device but he uses it in a beautiful and interesting way.
Beautiful ❤
I want to sit and watch the rain while listening to this 😌😌
This is soooo dope. Pino plays with such incredible intention. Blake, is this your tune? Reeeeally tasteful writing.
Round about the city rests. The illuminated streets grow
Quiet, and coaches rush along, adorned with torches.
Men go home to rest, filled with the day's pleasures;
Busy minds weigh up profit and loss contentedly
At home. The busy marketplace comes to rest,
Vacant now of flowers and grapes and crafts.
But the music of strings sounds in distant gardens:
Perhaps lovers play there, or a lonely man thinks
About distant friends, and about his own youth.
Rushing fountains flow by fragrant flower beds
... Bread and Wine .... Hölderlin
Pure Magic
SUPER ! 😎
This music reminds me of let’s go away for awhile from pet sounds by beach boys.
Just bought the album. Something to enjoy on my birthday weekend. Salud!
They did this live! There it is! What a sound, and what fantastic playing!
This is the best I've heard this year so far.

All good here. All of it. Major thumbs up to the live GR-300 playing. Such a versatile rig.
this is incredible
the fact Sam Gendel gets to play with the currently greatest jazz musicians yet he's pretty much unknown.... wild
Absolutely gorgeous. well done, Mr. Mills.
Now's the tiiiiiimmmmmee, feeel like makin' looooooove
So beautiful!
I've done a couple of records with Pino, he's amazing.
That transition at 1:00 is so amazing... The bass line with those chorus chords.... hnng
great MUSIC
Thank you for the vibes 🙏
approaching perfection
Great work everybody!
best song of all-time
omg this is magic
Love Pino, so versatile and yet discreet...plus he has Italian origins and to be precise from my little region (Molise) in the South.
Heard this earlier on the Portland Jazz radio station, was very taken with it.
Good grief, just amazing.
I was skeptical at first but little by little the composition won me over and halfway through I was totally enamored - excellent.
You just put me immediately into the mood to listen to that record. !!!
Exactly what I thought! Similar tonalities--I'm glad those tonalities are getting more love
And you in turn made me think of David Sylvian, Eberhard Weber, Herbie Hancock’s Mr Hands…haha
Helll yessss
Really nice! Love those grainy Vulfpeck closeups too.
Yes that was one of the first things that I thought as well🙂
Nice to see Pino packing out the fretless again.
magic
This song so far is my favorite from the album ❤ absolute flames

This is so good Blake! You make this modal really sing! Thank you for posting!
Excellent, enjoyable mood listening.
wooooow
Strangely relaxing
Yes, this is lovely
Beautiful
Such a pleasant listen...
can someone give us the full pedalboard rundown of this video please ? would love 💜
Right? Haha
Not sure about the exact order of Blake's board: Boss TU-2(3?), Boss SG-1, Boss VB-2, Boss GE-7, Digitech Digiverb, Radial Tonebone, Kingsley Page, Maxon AD999, Electro Harmonix 16 Second Delay, Boss GE-10. And, of course, Roland GR-300. Pino's is pretty simple, just a Snark Tuner, a Boss OC-2 and an Alien Bass Station. Not exactly sure about Sam's, but I spotted a Strymon Blue Sky, as well as a Deco, twin Boss SG-1s, Grace Bix, a Boss RC-30 and a Radial JDI Stereo. There's obviously a lot of harmonizer action going on, which I'm pretty clueless about, perhaps someone else will shed some light on that.
@@mikulasroubicek4642 so harmonizer are the two ominous custom silver pedals? oc
@@stagg8699 I'd say so.
@@mikulasroubicek4642 do you know the amp he’s playing through?
This just blew my mind, it's like nothing I've ever heard.
Yes, it's phenomenal. Check out Jon Hassel. You might hear some references.
@@enochporch Thanks for the tip, I can see what you mean!
Heard lots of overtones! The High Llamas, Moacir Santos, Tony Hymas/John Fiddy stock music....
It feels like I could mention several artists here to recommend, but I felt empty when I thought about it. Jeff Parker is maybe an obvious (and not) one, John Caroll Kirby and Alabaster de Plume are other ones I think about, just to take releases from last year…
reminds me of early Jaga Jazzist vibes, but distilled into something greater than the memories
So excited for this collaboration! Hope y’all will grace us with a tour once we’re all good and vaxxed 💗💗
