- This is a glance at a small shop in Somerville, Mass, which is approaching the bicycle culture from a different angle. Owners Zack Teachout and Josh Kampa explain their vision with their store and how it interacts with Boston cyclists. Documentary by Eric Tollar. TollarProductions.com fiestamovement.com/agents/40
This store is just the type of place every biking community needs. Truly inspiring. I wish you guys all the best.
More shops should be like this.
the atmosphere you create... AMAZING! DONT STOP!!!
wish there was a shop like this in Australia!!!
That was beautiful. Thank you.
This is really cool, you guys rock
sounds like an amazing place
keep up the good work guys!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Wish you guys had a shop in Vancouver, BC I'd be your first customer.
Great store!
cool idea lads all the best for the future
Nice job.. Coming up to see you this fall
If I ever make it up to Boston I'm gonna have to find this shop and go on a ride.
I thought the fixed gear thing was over. Can't imagine this place staying in business for long. I wonder if the owners are from rich families.
Cool shop!
Brilliant.
Thanks for the info man
i just dont know were and how to start i know i need money but i wanna know what the cheapest way in or any advice
Nice shop, this is like a permanent workshop
YES!!! Now let's put one in every town.
1:52 "We see it as a hub" nice pun!
wish there was a bike shop like this around my area!
What do you call the rims behind the guy talking in the film that look like windmills or something?
Did I hear Furniture?
I wish they had this store in SF.
I wish I lived near this shop
hope one day i can open mine!
this guy is so Hipster that I had to break 1000 coffee cups just to keep my sanity.
what are those small hats they're wearing called they look cool and comfy.
I wanna work at that shop!
Making the world slightly better for sure.
still open?
Sounds like a bike shop that "get's it" - bicycling in the city, especially commuting, isn't about buying an overly expensive bike and a bunch of unnecessary clothing. It's about getting out there and pedalling.
Nice concept.
I'd drop by tomorrow if it wasn't a 2,800 mile trip.
I like the Shop Dog !
this is great. you should submit this to the new urbanism film festival.
Boston you're not alone. :) Heck I though this vid took place in Toronto.... nevermind that I'm an ex courier from Vancouver. Peace
seems like one of those urban community bike centers with a ton of random old/used parts. It'll be hard to keep a bike shop going without new parts and bikes going through the door. How many used axles and banged up rims do you need to sell in a month to pay fixed costs? It's a great idea but it needs to be a registered charity or publicly supported operation (with tax dollars) to be viable in the long term, much like a soup kitchen.
Hey guys where is your shop located?
This is a lot like The Bike Doctor in Missoula, MT
More cynical comments than I had expected. I hope these guys succeed. Local bike shops need to reinvent themselves in an age when they find it hard to compete with on-line retailers.
Ive been in business for a long time and I see the passion that you guys have,
without passion you have nothing, I always say do what you do well and do alot of it! and make a difference in ppls lives and you cannot go wrong! learn from your mistakes and keep going! Im excited for you gents! kudos.
My local bike shop could learn a thing or two from this dude.
What can they learn from them? How to be fixed gear hipsters?
@kidballistic probably soooooooo true !! " lollll " yep
i wanna open a bike slash skate shop
I'm from the Philippines I'm a fan of biking can I try one of your road bike hoping for a reply😊
now this is what a bike shop should be, there is one not too far from my house that offers similar experiences and literally across the street one of the big company assholes opened up about a month and a half ago and are going out of business due to ridiculous prices and pathetic quality work
A bicycle isn't just a thing, and riding a bicycle isn't just something you do. It is a mindset and a lifestyle, a completely different way of being. You either "get it", or you don't.
Loool the first dude seems very very stoned.
@hahabunny actually i do watch my vids on ratchet clips
Nice bike
I had to stop watching this because the background music was way too loud, sorry.
It's like some of those topgear episodes lmao. Just leave the music out please.
Why not take a ride there and drop by in a couple of weeks.
well u have to start some were and consideing my age money and credit line best thing i can do is buy whole sale from a private shop whos willing to get rid of its bulk shipment and sell on ebay until i can get my own shop cuase the distributer requir i have a bordshop all i need is a cridit card and alot of balls

wow dude for reallies lol

Let the Jeebus wubbers flaming commence!

young mind of Business will alway get caught up in the loop of righteous business.
This type of Business do not last!
@moe354sa obviously u don't ride.
ummmm, so?
@kidballistic: hi hater.
no-the-bike-is0yours
You just don't understand *tut tut*
Noooooooo...... hipsters..........aaaahhhhh!
Lots of respect for trying, but I can tell just from the fact that you are both wearing cycling caps while not cycling that you won't last. Your business is built on passion, and that's great, but it will be your downfall.
Gibbs Tolsdorf they sell coke and roids in the back to keep the doors open
@@colemancalgary5260 and to keep the pro cycling races running.
hipster art gallery bike shop,
and we talk about this and we talk about that, what furniture and bla blah blah blah
"it's not about the exercise it is about socialising" ...oh pls, i just puked inside my mouth
We'll build you a custom bike based on what movies you watch that will be assembled with off the shelf parts and charge you exorbitant prices. what a joke.
+flaminrota not everyone who wants a custom bicycle has the tools (which cost money, too) and know-how to build one. sure they look like hipsters and ride fixies, but so what? watch again and see what the customers brought in: doesn't seem like they turn down normal commuter customers. if they make people ride more, i don't care if they've got a moustache or not! and if you add up the cost of buying an off the shelf bike and modifying it (or let someone do so), you might as well get a custom bike in the first place. just my 2 cents as someone who taught himself how to build bikes. if it wasn't for shops like that (i know some local shops like that), there would be less people riding, learning wrenching, etc. because they speak to a different customer range. theres a diy bike shop, a used bike shop, a normal one, a boutique road bike one, a mtb shop, a bmx shop in town where i live...i dont like em all ond wouldn't buy in all but fuck genres, they all make people ride.
