Full turn wasn’t even close, leap series had a noticeable bobble, dismount wasn’t counted as stuck, some somewhat low chest positions on landing- I think that’s where the deductions added up- although some of them seemed overlooked for certain athletes and teams (ahem… China!)
@@saragrant9749 The wobble on the full turn was costly since under this COP the full turn had to count as one of the 10 skills. The full L turn (C) was likely downgraded to a normal full turn (A) and received execution deductions. She also had some other form deductions which added up. In this COP Pavlova's fall was only worth 0.8 off so overall it was more forgiving on Pavlova than on Nistor
@@poshbothat’s definitely true. The L turn was the most costly element for so many gymnasts throughout those games. Most would have done better with just a simple full turn properly executed instead of that one with a huge error incorporated in. To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of it, much like the wolf turn. It just doesn’t look elegant. A classily performed full, double (or if you’re Sanne Wevers a TRIPLE!) turn looks so amazing on beam.
@@saragrant9749 imagine if in 2008 everybody was doing a double or triple wolf turn already? Then nobody would have had problems with this COP having to count a turn in the 10 skills. That's just further evidence that over time training techniques evolve, which changes the scoring dynamics
@@abrahamnextelatalina was the queen on beam- only. The Romanian QUEEN of that era was Sandra- Gold on floor in 2008 with a routine that had both clean tumbling and clean dance, not just clean dance with slipshod tumbling, Gold on vault in 2012, and a TRUE all around gymnast. Catalina was fantastic, but Sandra was better still.
Watch her qualifications beam, her reaction after the score is probably how we all reacted when we saw it, I remember watching it back then and was shocked it was so low compared to other routines that made it to the EF. I mean she had some mistakes but it was still underscored. I loved her beam work, she was so badass and just threw the skills like it's nothing. The only thing I didn't like was her L turn, it was always performed super poorly and brought her more deductions than bonuses.
@@nabojsa yes, I did notice how inconsistent that turn was- definitely. I always felt she’d have benefited from just a simple full turn without the deduction built right in. I have now had the chance to see her qualifying, and I suspect the major bobble out of the full tuck did a lot of damage to her score. Silly as a least a couple of beam finalists had the same kind of errors in their qualifying but scored higher (Ahem, Cheng Fei).
Gosh. I love Steliana. She seems like a very smart and quick thinking gymnast. It is very apparent in this routine.
She is such a great person a sweet heart with every people :)
I actually think this is one of the best beams of the 2008 Olympics. Nistor had incredible elegance and style.
It was a real shame she didn’t make beam finals, I think she could have taken bronze away from Fei.
this is the best routine she's ever done!
What the heck with the score? Pavlova got a 15.1 with a fall and bobbles, and Steliana's lovely, solid routine got only a 15.15? Injustice.
QueenieQue solid? There's so many deductions on every single moviment that she done, OMG you are blind!!

The full is incredible. She didn't cheat, her stepout just didn't return back to having her feet tugether when she jumped into it.
She is so cute

Nistor starts twisting on that full before jumping.
I was wondering why she got such a low score, but this maybe the main reason why
@@abrahamnextelthere were actually several little places for deductions, the L turn being the biggest.

She stayed on the beam at least- and didn’t completely botch an entire element.

I’m trying to remember how this didn’t make event finals. She must have had mistakes in qualifying.
