Just watched a grown man listen to Metallica with his eyes closed for a full 10 mins and I regret nothing.
Well clearly you're lying to yourself then lol
I started to get uncomfortable around the 4 minute mark hahaha
beautiful enough to make a grown man cry
With you there mate. I think we all got something from this
Same
Orion is a musical masterpiece made into metal
Now let’s mix Orion with anime scenes
@DURASTROKINS frfr
Orion is a masterpiece because of Cliff. The master of bass did an amazing job with this song.
Metallica meets Beethoven in Orion. Beautifully crafted.
Appreciate you man.
This guy guessed I Remember you Skid row was something. Then he'll LOVE the live version with Sebastian
Hey Capp! Fancy seeing you here! lolol :)
@@Freedum_Fries \m/ Been following Alex for a while.
This is more like Bach inspiration for the armonies, cause Cliff was a big fan of Bach.
Can you believe this masterpiece of an album was made by four guys who were all 23-24 years old, and drunk most of the time?
They actually stayed sober during the Puppets recording sessions, which I think everyone agrees was the right move, because it turned out to be one of, if not the greatest metal albums of all time.
Fun fact: James and Lars wrote most of the album in the garage in 8 weeks, afterwards Kirk and Cliff came in at the end in the studio to do their thing. Incomprehensible that they were that young, drunk most the time, did it so quick yet were so proficient at making one of the most iconic albums ever. Every song off the album stands above almost every new song from any band to this day.
Considered Cliff's swan song, he spent a lot of time on this one in post production to make sure it came out right. And damned if he didn't help create a masterpiece
It's gotta be at least 15 years since I last sat down and really *listened* to this track. Sometimes we're too busy chasing to the newest metal bands all the time to stop and appreciate the classics we grew up on.
look up the No Treble Isolated Bass Track for this song. your mind will implode.
Hey, have any album suggestions or bands in general that are new?
How did you live without it for 15 years?
@@spacejesus4747 My thoughts exactly! The new bands he said he's chasing don't come close to this masterpiece. Purely my opinion of course.
Absolutely agree
The dog barking at the solo is priceless
The boi was kinda on time, right? Lmfao
Weird that he gives the dog headphones too, tbh.
Thank you!!!!! Putting out awesome ness!!!!!
Doggo knows what's up
Every dog knows you don't bark during a solo 😆.
Literally the best instrumental ever written in music history.
To live is to die is really good too
Anesthesia, Pulling Teeth
To live is to die > Orion but both are masterpieces
The best Metallica instrumental for sure and my favourite Metallica track ever. But there are so many instrumental masterpieces in the world that I couldn't list them in an order.
That would be Epilogue by Opeth. But Orion is extremely good.
"The bluesy part in the middle, is a waltz Cliff Burton wrote for his Dad who always asked him for something to dace to."
Cool.
Never knew that. That’s cool
My favorite part of the song. The sick bass line that kicks it off and the guitar sounds like a harpsichord melody. Epic
I am so pumped for Damage Inc. after this one. Orion and Damage Inc. close this album perfectly.
Same hes gonna be off the charts
Damage Inc is my favorite song by them. The bass guitar in Damage Inc. is fierce.
The changeover is a big reason to listen to the whole album in one sitting and in order
If you noticed, the little riff before the thrashy opening of Battery is a foreshadow to Damage Inc. (It sounds like the chorus riff of Damage Inc.)
Damage Inc. is absolutely gonna blow him away. I can't wait.
If this was not played while i am cremated, i don't want to die
I'm having Fade To Black engraved on my tombstone.
@@CarefulWithThatAxeEugene I'd love to get the lyrics to Orion engraved on my tombstone after I pass away. "Do do da do da doo doo da do dah."
@@nerogematria6392 Lol right 😂🤣
To Live is to Die would probably be a better fit
Wait a minute. So you’re saying if it was arranged to be played at your funeral, you’d want to die?
I know it’s a joke I’m just joking about the reverse of what that would mean lol
The call of ktulu is another must listen type of instrumental the bass of that song is just a piece of art made by gods of metal
But the question remains, album or live at Lyceum Theatre where Cliffs bass has never been more dominant and every note to is to be heard. Only problem is its shorter as they had a faster tempo
Yeah, the S&M version :D
@@crimsondeadman3465 that's a good one too, most of my friends hate that album but I do love a majority of the songs from that set.
I know this will make me a pariah but Ktulu is better than Orion
@@joshthomas2536 Live at Warsaw Poland. They had Rob's bass super loud for the lead bass parts.
S&M is also a great version
Its tough not to REALLY listen to this as a prelude into Damage Inc......it just sets it up perfectly....as did To Live Is To Die for Dyer's Eve and as Call of Ktulu should have done for Creeping Death.
Ktulu was a fine closer.
@@kirbysucks5001 in my head call of ktulu is the intro for the thing that should not be, its great
True

So beautiful of a song. Doesn’t need words!

@@justindavis5259 lmao!
2:30, if anyone doesn’t know that is Cliff Burton playing that on his bass. Same at 7:19, no matter what anybody else says Cliff Burton is the greatest bass player of all time hands down. RIP brother
rip
Yeah man,
we definitely lost someone great, rip cliff
I have always had trouble between deciding whether mop or ajfa is my favourite album,
But I gotta say that mop definitely has alot of memorably tracks
including this one, and everything else cliff has been in
Although now that im typing all this out for once, mop is probably my favourite, not that anyone didnt see that coming already
Yeah, we lost one of the greatest musicians in recent history when he died. RIP
That bass lick, especially the faster sections, made my fingers bleed from over here. Easily my favorite instrumental by them, with Call of Ktulu and To Live Is To Die being harder to place (but damn they're all sick!) :D
I saw the video coming online and I never clicked on a video so fast.
Fucking same
He already reacts to Orion 2 years ago, I think he didn’t remember but I saw it at the time, he was blown away!
Fucking A right
Same!
Orion has to be my favorite song from the album and my favorite instrumental of all time!
Hell yeah!
And that´s how 10 minutes of my life flew away, no regret.
no remorse, no regrets, we dont care, and thats it.
It feels so short.
YESSS I’ve been waiting for this song
You have to listen to “To Live Is To Die” if you haven’t
And Call of Ktulu as well.
He's already done this reaction
And harvester of sorrow as well
He should do the entire .....and justice for all album
He should listen to the to live is to die/master of puppets seattle concert 🔥🔥🔥
Still blows mind that the first"solo" portion is actually the bass played super high. My buddy who's a bassist told me, and I called him a damn liar. Then he showed me a live video. RIP Cliff you absolute legend. 🤘
Same. I was blown away when I realized that was the bass. And he was finger picking 🤯🤯
Cliff never played this live
@@willmarcarias6777 Yeah it was Robert playing. It was just to illustrate the point that it was bass.
@@willmarcarias6777 you don’t have to remind us. The only song on the album he didn’t play live is the one where he got to shine.
Imagine what he would've done as he got older and learned even more... legend!
Wish i could go 34 years back in time and put on this record the first time. 12 years old kid in 87. Summertime, skateboarding with my friends. Beer and subwoofer❤
I was 10 in 1987 & heard it for the first time then too. My older sister borrowed the tape from a friend and was listening to it while she was cleaning her room. I heard it and was blown away. Was hooked from that day on.
Suicide and redemption is a VERY underrated instrumental, keep up the good work Alex
Live in Copenhagen 2009
Agreed. Hetfields solo near the end gets me every time.... actually just the solo duel in general.
Just wish the album wasn't as distorted as it was. :(
That is bullshit in comparation of to live is to die
Underrated BY WHO ?!??!!?
To Live is to Die... do that one.. it's one of the best instrumentals out there. Also, there is so much meaning to that song, you can feel the pain left behind after Cliff's passing..
I could listen to those '80s Metallica albums all day long...each and every one of them being no less than brilliant!!!
That bass solo is masterful! Cliff Burton was a legend. RIP
Cliff had 3 solos in this, and all of them were masterful..
That opening build up makes this song want to be the one I slowly die to
Edit: that sounded a lot more morbid than I meant it to.
Time for Call of Ktulu
Album:Ride the lightning ❤️❤️❤️
Live at Lyceum over the album version anyday
RIP Cliff. Miss you. 🤘💀🤘
"Who's doing that?!" One and only Cliff Burton...he'll never be forgotten.
"To live is to Die" is a good one too!
I've been listening to Orion since '88 ... still gives me the goose bumps. It's a travel to another plain of existence..
3 bass solos in this piece of music. This is the tune that got me into playing bass as well as guitar. Best listened to in a dark room with your eyes closed so you can sense EVERYTHING!!!
I'm surprised you didn't start off saying anything about listening to it before
There's another song he reacted to 2 times recently but he didn't adress it either, I think he just forgot lmao
Same. I actually thought he'd skip Orion because he had reacted to it before. Based on his reaction, I'm guessing he didn't listen to Orion again after he reacted to it the first time. Plus, that was quite some time ago when he was still new to metal music
@@missJJ_onYT yeah but he skipped over master of puppets because he had listened to it
Which is one of the problems with reactors who listen to so much. Ultimately, it becomes meaningless. They can't even remember what they listened to.
@@missJJ_onYT He was vibing with it this time though, actually listening not just reacting
This is need to be a thing on RUclips. Reactions to a song with the eyes closed because it gives you different level of emotion and perspective when you listening to a song.
It's basically a technical precision music that puts you into a trance. Call of Ktuhlu, Escape, To Live is to Die, Fade to Black... all those songs were just masterpieces. I'm pretty sure a sorcerer gave them the ideas at the time.
A masterpiece co-written by cliff, rip cliff, you were an amazing artist !
Cliff wrote pretty much the entire thing, and then showed James and Kirk what/when to play.
@@monolythentertainment9970 I’m not sure, James and Lars usually write the music, I know cliff had a part in writing this song, but I’m not sure about the whole album
@@jesswise8680 fairly certain Monolyth is referring to this song as said masterpiece.
@@monolythentertainment9970 James has a songwriting credit too. Not sure for what part of the song tho
@@Spthomas47 The main riff and interlude of Orion was Cliff’s opus. He wrote all the harmonies over several months, and only when he felt it was ready did he bring James and Kirk in to show them what to play and when to play it. I think James wrote the riff underneath the first bass solo towards the beginning of the track. The same riff is used again in the outro.
Lars gets credits on EVERY track, because Lars is Lars.
I liked the part when DMX came in barking in during the last solo
One of my favorite Metallica songs.
A masterpiece! Every instrument flows so smoothly together.
We need a Justice album reaction🤤
i was waiting for damage inc today, and i got a song he already reacted to before
He is listening to the album in song order, whether or not he reacted to a song in the past.
2 years ago bro chill.
@@joelombardi4907 He didn't react to the title track
Stop complaining you're impatient as hell
Since you already did Orion you can do the other songs again Alex. Orrrrr you can do “Ride the Lightning” in its entirety.
He should just do Kill Em All, Ride the Lighting and Justice in its entirety. In my opinion, those are the best 4 Metallica albums (3 mentioned plus MOP).
@@Ranganation Shh shhh we can’t reveal the whole game yet Mr. Daniel. All in due time. 😉

In case you didn't know, the solo at 7:15 is actually on bass and was played by Cliff Burton.
Thier instrumentals are amazing
I have told every single one of my friends and family that when I die my only request is that this song is played
Me to mate
To Live Is to Die is great too
This album makes me miss Cliff more than the other 2 with him, this song in particular. He was the GOAT
Dude, just thank you for reaching to the whole album, you're the goat for spreading more good music to the masses
7:15 bass solo
Gotta do the entire Garage Inc. Part 1 and 2
Lol out of all Metallica albums, why would he do Garage Inc?
@Nicholas Giuliano yeah, it’s alright. But if he’s going to do a full Metallica album, I certainly wouldn’t recommend an album full of covers. On top of that, it’s not even in their top 5
I love how all of these people in the comments are Metallica fanatics just like me, mesmerized by the raw talent and musicianship of these guys. I feel like I am among my friends in the comments section, I want to give everyone here a huge hug and share the love of metal we all posses.
My Bass guitar Idol Cliff Burton whom inspired me to play Bass instead of guitar...some 34ish years ago....To this day I tear up in the mid section or as I call it Cliff section...
Ah, I remember when I watched you listening to this song 2 years ago as if it was yesterday. Can´t belive you never listened to the whole album afterwards. XD
Ye feel like there's lyrics cos yer making a journey through the universe.
RIP CLIFF 🐺

By far my favorite song. Want to to be buried to it.
I love playing this on bass . So hard to play but when u learn it so satisfying
That's one that never gets old. Lots of others have said it here, but it bears repeating. Masterpiece.

Must have forgot you've reacted to this already
Yeah was'nt it like 2 years ago. Kind of easy to forget if you have not listened to it again.

Metallica- To live is to die with eyes closed next! So emotional instrumental!
After all these years the bridge to that still breaks my heart every time I hear it. I'd put it in top 10 songs ever written, up there with Beethoven, Mozart and Liszt.
