You actually got me into building and playing guitars. Thanks Sir.
i'm a big-big secret fan of his.. he's brilliant and Canadian! ..
That's awesome!
i am a big fan .. not crazy .. however, very-very silly..lol you understand..
I’m enjoying your videos more and more with every posting. Your dry humor really lands well! Production values and your great guitar playing are icing on the cake.
Thanks so much! appreciate the feedback
Great review, Landon. Also, love the dry sense of humour! Keep the amazing content coming, matey. Keep rocking!
I’ve almost (almost) gotten to the point where I consider Squier CV on par with big-daddy Fender. They are certainly more bang for the buck, and the quality is also right there. In fact, their QC may actually be better. And wow, that candy apple red is stunning!
Candy apple red (or green) are my favorite Fender colors
@@sirlost94 You have excellent taste, sir!
I'm more of a Les Paul guy, I play an Epiphone that I upgraded, but damn these classic vibes look awesome. I'd like to try a 50s two tone sunburst strat. Rory Gallagher vibes. Damn he was good guitarist.
100% agree. I was not happy with my first strat, which was a fender player series back in 2020. It was heavy, rough fret edges, and had no sustain to it. The wood itself didn’t seem to resonate much. I know there’s videos out there where guys swear by the player series but I would pick a Squier over that any day. I now have a Japanese strat that was only $100 more than my fender and it is miles ahead in terms of quality and sound. I did buy a candy apple red Squier Cyclone this year and love it. It’s the guitar I’m gonna learn to install my own pickups, new trem, and anything/everything else. The quality is through the roof for just a few hundred bucks.
People think I’m crazy for saying the same thing. I’ve received fenders that were so bad that I’ve had to send back. Everything from sprouted frets, wiring issues, finish issues, electronics. I’ve purchased about a dozen Squier instruments over the last 10 years or so, all of them perfect and ready to play right out of the box
my guitar is a 60's inspired strat and I love it, I've been playing for 4 months now. I'll def buy a squier 60's vibe in the future thank you Landon!
Thank you for setting the bar for being awesome lower. I feel awesome now too!!! Lots of great info in this video too!
I own a Squier CV 60's Strat in candy apply red. Such a comfortable neck. I love it!
Your humor gets better all the time 😂 Love your videos!
thank you goodnight!
I like your reviews better than anyone else's. Your so thorough!
Thanks!
I got the same CV 70s you have (white w/ tortoise shell pickguard) and I can't put it down! Love it. Watched your video before I pulled the trigger and I don't regret it one bit! Thanks for the awesome reviews Landon!
i've got one of the Squier Paranormal Offset Telecasters and was very impressed with the overall quality. if i were to buy another Strat i would indeed look into the Classic Vibe Squiers.
My favorite is the the sunburst 50’s CV Strat. The Squier CV 70’s Precision (walnut) is also outstanding
I have the Squire Classic Vibe 50s Sunburst and have no interest in ever selling or "upgrading" it. It's a winner all the way around!
Massive Rory Gallagher vibes from that strat. I'm a Les Paul guy (I love my Epiphone) but I kinda want a 50s CV sunburst strat. Rory was insane at the Isle of Wight festival.
I've owned both and I personally think it most of it comes down to the QC put into each individual guitar.
The Squire 60’s vibe has always been my favorite even more than the 50’s and 70’s vibe.
🎸👍
I absolutely LOVE my 50s CV Strat and 50s CV Tele. They’re from 2015/2016 (made in China) and they’re just wonderful guitars. I’m keeping them forever. Love love love.
That candy apple red is a lovely thing. Congrats!
Unrelated to this particular video, your videos are so wonderfully stream-of-consciousness. They’re super fun.
That’s the point 🎸👍 cheers!
Beautiful guitar. Always a fan of that color combined with a dark wood fretboard, and in this case the vintage tint of the neck looks amazing too.
I have a Squier classic vibe Telecaster. The neck is phenomenal. I did redo the pick ups due to the sound I wanted but overall it is one awesome guitar.
I have the thinline telecaster and it is amazing. The neck feels a lot like the old American standard stuff.
my classic vibe 70s strat neck basically keeps bending i think it is not fully dried yet. Adjust the truss rod and a week later the action has raised , do it again, repeat. I think i will run out of truss rod eventually. And the pickups sound good, but the switch and pots leave alot to be desired, switch occasionally just deadens out, especially on the neck pickup. I have cleaned it with lubricating contact cleaner, helped for a day or so.
@@Healcraft To me that sounds like the truss rod is broken. I'm not a repair man but I've heard of cases where you make the adjustment and the neck moves the way you want it to but settles back into whatever the position was initially. As expensive as these guitars run I don't think paying to get it fixed is worth your money when you can find these necks used under $200. I've had a lot of luck with Mighty Mite necks also. Lots of great features for the same about as a used Squier neck, sometimes cheaper.
@@arnolddealiii4259 Yeah i was thinking of putting my bullet strat neck on it lol
@@Healcraft it would do the job! You can nab one of those necks for $50 if you’re patient enough for finding a deal. The other option is to keep the neck you got and have a dedicated slide guitar 😃
Awesome Tone! On All Levels 😉👍
Thanks for listening
I was fortunate to get a squire 60's classic vibe stratocastor from 2010 when the body was made from alder and the fretboard made from rosewood.
My daughter picked up a 04 Squier standard Strat but someone spent the money to have it set up perfectly the Frets dressed and it was never played before she got it. I know this was before the peak of their new quality but it was made in Indonesia and it's every bit as nice to play as my American performer tele.
I remember seeing something majorly positive about a squier strat recently. I believe it was a Paul Davids video where he went to a producers house and talked about how he uses an old $99 used Squier to record big label hits and background soundtracks for series.
I saw that, it was indeed Paul David’s and it was an absolutely phenomenal video. Couldn’t believe how good that guitar sounded in that song
I got a Classic Vibe Jazzmaster on black Friday and couldn't be happier. A quick set up and I was ready to go.. It sounds awesome. I have American and Mexican made Fenders that didn't come as well QC'd as the Jazz.
I have the same guitar as the candy apple red and I have a blue one too. I use them to gig with and practice. They are really nice guitars. I don't always want to bring my Fender stratocaster to the show.
I lovd your jokes man! Hahaha I love the necks of those classic vibes. Gonna get one soon
Thanks For Sharing 🎸🎶
Thanks Landon. I’ve been enjoying your great reviews. Curious what Sweetwater sent the CV 60s strat for if not for a review??? Just ordered the CV 60s sunburst strat with the goal of doing the McCready relic on it. Thinking of adding Bill and Becky Wilde noiseless 200sm and sn (50s) and the hot 298s bridge pu down the road. Scheduled to be delivered today.
for this ruclips.net/video/kaQxdJTaNws/видео.html
I love my 2011 60 CV strat which come with real rosewood fingerboard and alder body! Over the years I upgraded the trem block, brass saddles, TUSQ nut, electronics/wiring and Gotoh tuners. Even with all the upgrade it's still cheaper and play better compare to a Mexican strat. The only problem I have is that the neck is not really a C neck but a soft V neck which is quite strange but I finally got used to it.
I have the same strat (and a ‘14 made in china CV telecaster). Upgraded the bridge with mex tremolo, that fit perfect, now is perfect! (I also installed a new pickguard with texas special and SD SH4, that i had as spares, but the original pickups are good too)
70's has a larger headstock too.
I simply adore that Candy Apple Red finish!! I almost (almost) regret getting the black Contemporary Strat with the trem instead of the CV when I was at Alamo Music, but the Contemporary Strat is excellent too! I HIGHLY recommend you try that out next! The roasted maple neck is easily the best neck I've ever felt on any guitar! It's also got a full-sized sustain block unlike the CV!
yeah that thing is nuts
I absolutely love my 60s CV! I will say, that the volume pot went bad on mine, about 9 months out. However... I swapped the electronics for the Solderless kit from Mojotone, and the CV got even better! A great investment to upgrade to in case you need to. ...or you if just want to! Plus, swapping out pickups is soooo much nicer. I've put some Texas Specials on my CV for the time being. Had them installed in no time at all! No soldering! ...and I could swap back in the Alnicos just as quick.
Hi DGRuss MB, I just put a little '59 Seymour Duncan humbucker in the bridge but for some reason it doesn't sound good but it beefed up my other pickups. Is that even possible. I've been trying to figure out why. If I switch the wires on it, it's out of phase, go figure?
@@douglaschristine8387 Thats very interesting. Here is what I’ve noticed with mine and it might apply to yours. As much as I do love my 60s CV, the tones don’t resonate as much as my Fender Strat does. The Texas specials do sound good, and definitely gives it a nice twangy sound. But it still sounds…. For lack of a better word. …a bit stifled. I know th TSs are capable of more. So that may explain the “not sounding “as good” part”. I’m not as well versed in wiring. (I’ve still got a lot to learn). maybe the better wiring, or stronger magnets in the SDs. Could even be the lack of shielding having an effect. I know putting in the new full sized pots made a tremendous difference. I hope that helps, or at least puts you in the right direction.
You know, I never would have looked at a Squier a few months ago. Saved up for a jazzmaster, bought one had $ left over and the sales guy says "you have a tele?, you should try this squier affinity".......I did, was really surprised by it so I bought it and absolutely love it.
My number one guitar is a 2010 squier affinity Stratocaster in the same color
i have 2013 squier CV 60s made in china, it's very awesome guitar, and the body material is still using alder, the fretboard is still rosewood, the pickup is tone rider according to several website and it sounds awesome.
🎸👍
I'm not a strat person but I loved ths sound of this guitar 🤩
Really love that color too! I have Fenders and Squiers as well as stratocasters and telecaster. Like them all! Just need to check quality and control a little more on the Squiers and spend a little more time setting them up. You may also possibly want to upgrade the pickups but that’s why they’re half the cost or more than fenders! For my use they both meet my needs!
I’m sure they’re good guitars and you sound great and funny as always. Thanks for being you
My favorite guitar is the Stratocaster. The squire is so much fun. It’s really easy to play, all the classic tones. I got one from sweetwater , strait out the box plays amazing. It’s my lightest guitar too, I think it’s 6lbs.
Really like the bridge pickup being bridged to the tone knob ✨ .
Just brought one home. Great value!
Right on!
@@landonbailey I asked for this particular model because of this video lol.
Only I choose the 2 Color sunburst. Thanks for the video.
I just bought a 40th Squier Strat and it's just amazing ! And I only paid $299.
I had a 1995 American Strat and sold it, after nearly 20 years of trying to make myself happy with it. After watching some vids by you and others, I bought a CV50s Strat and I like it more than the American I had. I like the trem on the American more, and the tuners on the Squier are only okay, but otherwise-just as nice at a fraction of the cost.
got a classicvibe telecaster for my first guitar then upgraded to a fender mexican strat it wasnt much of an upgrade i highly reccomend squire cv guitars they are on par with high end fenders and offer more options than standard fenders they are cheap and easy to mod a squier is the perfect modern day guitar for anyone
I have that exact guitar and it also came with the tremolo bar decked but so far I left it that way. It fits my playing style better but I might loosen it in the future and see if i cannplay around with it but so far its tight as delivered. There is something to say for tight! Lol
I like strats. I kind of want one of these. I'd look more into it if I wasn't already kind of set on the wine red strat I keep seeing on marketplace. Around the same price and it'd match with my Tele.
Tough decision since the 60s classic vibe looks super nice.
My first guitar was an 80’s MIJ Strat that came stock with Fender parts. It’s so awesome and I still own it
My second guitar was an 83 or 84 MIJ SQ squier which I still have and is my absolute favorite guitar I own and have never yet played a fender of any kind that felt or sounded better to me than that Squier
@@danh956 I hear that same thing all the time about those Squier Strats from that era. I love mine.
Hey , u popped up on my feed … I like your style and I love strata…. I suscribed 👍🏻🇨🇦 🇺🇸
Welcome aboard!
You got the good switch !!! Dang it. Hahah
I have only experience with affinity tele but I would definitely buy or look at another Squier.
If this guitar has a 60’s neck the profile is great.
I do have a 62 Fender Japan reissue and the trussrod is at the heel. So thats different (not the easiest access but I like the look of it)
Those candy colors are nice too
The affinity for the price is awesome !!!! … it’s above the bullet for anyone curious 👀….. stay away from a light strat made in Korea , they are garbage
I bought one last week in pac blue. I was looking for an Epi Les Paul and whilst I was waiting for the guy at the store I saw that guitar, looks nice, let's try. The neck closed the deal. I like the heft, the size of the body and the solid built. The top tone button doesn't work, though but I just ordered a soldering iron.
Fantastic
I had a nice Squire affinity strat, and a Jackson bass. I liked them both, but I like the Gretsch hollow body Streamliner much more. After trading in the Squire and Jackson, the Streamliner was just 350.00 USD. Besides, I already have two strats.
Well, that gave us some good vibrations!
Great video! Can you tell us what pedals you used? Thanks!
I believe I was using a Joyo Sweet Baby overdrive and an Ibanez TS Mini
Ill be up for sessions on next month on the 12th.
Lol 😂 love your sense of humour man! Good review 👌
Glad you enjoyed!
I bought a Squier CV 60's Telecaster and I have to say it's amazing, feels great, sounds great, looks great...
Now I need a Stratocaster and I have to decide between a MIM stratocaster or a Classic vibe...
40 aniversary looks like a great option also... Hard to decide.
Just bought a 2017 squire stat at a pawn shop for $70 u.s. After a good ser up and a new pair of 10/42 nickle wounds it's amazing.
I bought a 60’s Classic Vibe in 2011. Had only played Gibson’s at that point, but all my guitar gods played strats. Great guitar for the money, but just really never liked the neck. It sounds great and more recently put an American Fender bridge and output jack in. Would absolutely love this guitar if the neck were more to my liking. Won’t sell it, but gets played the least
My first and only guitar, love it, and I really only got it because I could afford it. Haven't wanted anything else really but an acoustic would be nice to have
Im going to buy a Squier affinity HSS Strat. Soon. Thanks buddy 😎👍💯✌️✌️🎸🎸
I've been thinking of buying the '50s Fiesta Red version but this Apple Candy Red looks absolutely beautiful! I'm confused now :0
I have a 2021 Squier classic Vibe 50s and I want to say that I totally agree with you I have owned many Fender USA stratocasters and they have all come and gone but this one is here to stay. I have to say that I did finally replace the pickups with a factory loaded set of vintage noiseless pickups. It was a $300 investment but put this guitar over-the-top. I absolutely love the neck as mine has the maple neck. I changed the pickups because I am a big fan of the fender vintage noiseless pickups and put a solid brass string block and solid brass saddles but other than that nothing else has been changed.
I would put this up against any USA built fender any day
I will own a Candy Apple Red axe someday... I have the Squier contemporary HH FR gunmetal metallic with roasted maple neck from a couple of years back... first Squier I've owned in over 30 years and really impressed with it. The neck is just lovely. Feels good to play.
BTW... what is the brand of screwdriver you have used for the pickguard screws? Looks cool. Cheers!😄

I am thinking the same. In my case, I feel the neck on my Squier Affinity Stratocaster HSS FMT better than on my Fender Player Plus Top HSS. I thought that Fender was the real deal, but there are several issues with that guitar, some of which I've already fixed. There were some tall frets which needed leveling, sharp fret ends, bad setup. All of that on the Fender. The Squier only needed a 1/4 turn on the truss rod and was pretty much perfect. Even the fretboard feels more rolled .-.
You are the awesome one!
Hey Landon , how would you rate this against the g&l tribute legacy ? Similar spec and price? Great channel 👏 👍
Both are good from my experience. This Squier neck is slimmer
looks and sounds nice
Great video! Love your style. What strings would you recommend on this strat? Thanks
hey thanks! the stock strings feel good. I like NYXL
@@landonbailey Thanks for getting back to me. I just got my 1996 Squire made in Korea 50th Anniversary used and the strings on it now sound great but they kind of look more like light phosphor bronze rather than the electric D’Addario XL 9-42’s I’m used to on an electric guitar. Funny how the neck on it does have the feel of an acoustic rather than a newer electric Squire Affinity Strat. It’s great to play. Thanks for your recommendation! I subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
I've been largely unimpressed with the color options on the Strats in the CV line until this Candy Apple Red. It's the best one they've put out so far that isn't an FSR.
I'm getting one, I've been shopping Fenders but my Classic Vibe 70's Jazz Bass is so good that I'm just going to go Squire again.
I’d still swap out the pickups, tuners, pots and switches, tremolo block and strap locks.
and the neck, body, strings, strap buttons, etc. 😄
@@landonbaileywell, let’s not get carried away.
And you'd be an asshole. I have a 60s and 50s CV strat and they play and sound terrific stock.
My two Fenders, on the other hand, required replacing the pickups, eliminating fret sprout, and leveling the frets.
You can judge a guitar by how it does its job before modding the piss out of it.
How does it compare to a mim Strat? If i was going to replace the electronics anyway. Is the fret work better on a mim?
Which one is better as a base for a custom build?
Thinking about trying the YJM pickups.
Looking to try something like a nice malmsteen strat on a budget.
check out this comparison I did a few years ago. ruclips.net/video/yUgprfoGzp0/видео.html
You'll probably have a better idea with that info
@@landonbailey 👍 thanks. Looks like I should get a Fender player series.
One of my favourite guitar players is chuck prophet....hes used the same squire tele for years and it sounds amazing...i think sounding better then most with what is technically an underdog guitar is a next level cool. Im going to get one even though im neither cool or proficient 😂
man, now I want an 80s Strat. Maybe a Made in Japan super-Straty inspired Squier ? Hmmm.
And yeah, they are all great. I love stumbling on older quirky releases, like a triple lipstick pickup model.
Squier vintage modified with lipstick pickups !
This is basically the 40th anniversary vintage edition with a plastic pick guard?
The selector switch, like the 50s Classic Vibe, is good? Not like the 70s CV Strat?
I just bought the Squier Strat Nashville last week and it is incredible-I can't put it down! Highly recommended!!
Good luck in the bathroom!
@@landonbailey Best in the shower! (Shock warning)
Hi Landon, I have the same guitar and color in 2019, great guitar but I only use one position 4 the most because the others suck.
nice!
I was reaching up to click onto the next vid just as you dropped the torn-nato joke. I subscribed instead; that alone was worth it.
sounds like something I said that time! cheers
News flash, some Older Squiers are fantastic as well, especially for the used price. My'87 E7 Bullet pbass ($100) and my 99 Chinese ($50) pawn shop strat are amazing. I've owned US and MIJ Fenders and the equally good Squires are out there. Sift through the used shops and keep your ears open. Thanks for the post love em.
Agreed. I don't own a Squire but decades ago I went to Manny's in NY and played one and was blown away by how good it was. Didn't sound or play any worse than the American ones.
06:58 I really need this. Thanks, sir
I was the head bartender at the bar for being awesome! No customers but I'm still waiting!
LPB one is a beauty
Once again Thanks for this Awesome INFORMATIVE video Landon I just purchased a New Squire Bullet Stratocaster HT a couple of weeks ago going to mod it with Fender Deluxe Drive pickups and locking tuners all in all out of the box my Squire bullet Stratocaster HT was set up Perfect Great tone and playability Just as good my Fender Mexican Stratocaster with Fender Hot Noiseless pickups Thanks Again for this Awesome INFORMATIVE video
*Squier
bought one of these last year from a chap on Facebook marketplace. One of the 2009 first releases (China) for £210. Candy Apple red and he had a mint green pick-guard on it (niiice). I had a set of Fender 57/62 pickups in another shit build I attempted, so I swapped out the the stock alnicos for those not expecting a great difference, but even my amateur ears could appreciate the huge leap in tone that was achieved.I left the rest of the hardware alone, as these things are solid
I just got my first Squire last week, a Paranormal Toronado. I like it a lot because it was a gift. I had to set it up and put a new set of stings on it and it is a decent guitar. Would I put over $600 with tax in? No way but I'm not complaining.
*Squier
@@QS-si3cq I guess it's nice to be perfect
I like this guy😌
Tore-nato. Yep. Love it🤘🏼
It’s true
I don't understand 😕
Have you reviewed the Squire 40th Anniversary Strat?
*Squier
yes
My Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster is one of the best guitars i've owned. I play it more than my Gibson LP.
I still haven't tried one of those. will have to one day
My son and I bought several amazing Squier guitars with some at home set up. He decided to spend the money on an actual Fender. I was jealous , but not able to get the fret buzz out of it. Took it back and it was declared a dud and replaced. His favorite guitar now, but we both decided that the quality control is marginally better if at all.
1. Put a humbucker in that bridge position
2. Profit
Hello. I am from Not-Europe. Thanks for the links and the great video
I want to visit there one day. Probably a Tuesday
Your comments are a great endorsement for this guitar. The Squier Classic Vibe 60's Stratocaster sells for $429. A Fender Player Series Statocaster retails for $849 so that's almost 50% less. 🎸
Nato... Tornado... hahahahahahahaha
I own a CV 70's for a month and it's already my favorite guitar! So well balanced and it sounds so good. The neck it's perfect, slim and fast. I love the gloss. The pickups are too bright so I turn down the tone and I get a really creamy sound. I want another one!
🎸👍
Would be interesting to compare to a Vinterra II.
Cool channel. 🇨🇦
I have two Fenders (Strat and a Tele) and a Gibson (LP) but had to buy a Squier (CV Mustang 60) for my collection. But would not mind to buy one Squier CV Strat again 😊
Its a bit Stratty don't ya think!?!
Naa actually looks great! I hit the middle pickup (a lot!) probably why l haven't got one...but it has nice tones & a tone knob for the bridge (what are they thinking!?!).
Dont burn it!
And lovely slo-mo screwing in the pickguard!👍
