- St. Augustine is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in what is now the contiguous United States. It is known for attractions such as the pedestrian-friendly St. George Street, old city gate, Castillo de San Marcos, and Ponce De Leon's Historical Fountain of Youth. I visited in early March and walk through Downtown St. Augustine, checking out the city and all its sights.

Saint Augustine has history and amazing stories that can be quite haunting in a way. I'm glad the building in the village are still standing and the fortress is well presented and cared for. I can see why tourists flock to this Majestic city it takes you back in time.
Wow, there's so much history (albeit dark) in St. Augustine, and it's hard to pinpoint everything in this video! 🤩 8:58 Hidden gem pigeon's nest, so cute! 😍 It's neat to see the oldest school, the cathedral, local shops & restaurants, and the residential homes. 1:19:18 It's fascinating to see Castillo de San Marcos, and I believe the $15 entry fee is worth it since they need to maintain and preserve the grounds! I'm glad the area is peaceful and quite now. Thank you for this informative and fabulous walking tour through Downtown St. Augustine, AK! 🤗👍

Not the oldest city. Pensacola Florida was founded 6 years before St. Augustine but was temporarily abandoned after a hurricane.

That construction site on a pier used to be a popular restaurant where you could feed the fish from a trap door at your table. I am not sure if it just sold or a storm hit it.
It was the Santa Maria and our kids loved to feed those fish when we went there. We're locals. It is currently being renovated but I have no date of completion known.

Your title says, "America's Oldest City". So NOT Quito, Ecuador? Odd. I could have sworn Ecuador was in America.
It looked like a senior center instead of a visitor center. I believe it's one of the oldest cities! lol Ponce de Leon and the "Fountain of Youth" was an ironic twist considering:-) I'm enjoying the historical information you are starting to attach to your work:-) Hug-You-Not cemetery for non-Catholics? That doesn't sound very friendly. lol I loved the pigeon nest:-) It's a very cute historical town. I had to laugh when she told you to remove your hat when you entered the Cathedral. The same thing happened to one of my friends when we were in NYC at St. Patrick's. He was wearing a beret and had to remove it, but the irony is there is a gift shop inside the church where they are selling merchandise. So our group concluded which is worse? Wearing a hat or buying and selling inside a church? lol I loved the water too AK! What a great video! I felt as if I were on vacation.🙂

I wonder how far a good beach is from old town.
Technically the foundation of youth kinda exists as sorta like a mineral spring in st Augustine far from what it was rumored to be. It’s really just a natural freshwater spring somewhere within the city. Honestly it’s kinda stupid with the tourist trap there now. The problem is the water is ok to drink just it’s full of dissolved limestone which is pretty much all Florida water as we sit on a huge piece of limestone. Limestone is easy gotten rid of by a simple acid like vinegar or lemon juice as it’s just calcium deposits but weak ones.
