41 year old white dude who never knew about lotion until I saw this Bill Burr special. I started trying out different lotions and couldn't find the right kind. So I asked some black people and they helped me out. Now I use Queen Helene Cocoa Butter face + body creme and that stuff is *amazing* it gets the job done without any drawbacks.
Bravo Derek❗ I'm white too , but as a Girlie Girl...always used lotion right out the shower. Lots out there that smell delicious. Try NIVEA . Great smells in their line... Coconut, Vanilla and Almond etc. Using lotion, considering all the chemicals in our water systems...just make sense ( and SCENTS....Haha)
I never used lotion until I got full sleeve tattoos and could see how dry my skin was. Funny story, I was sitting at a bar talking to my friend who was the bartender and I asked her if she had any lotion, she asked why and I showed her my arms and said “because I’m ashy as hell”. Sitting next to me was a black woman who immediately spit her drink across the bar laughing. I asked what was so funny and she said “I didn’t know y’all got ashy but you look like you rolled in flour”. I bought her a drink and we have been friends ever since. That was 15 years ago.
He's so [redacted] now. His wife wears the pants and he's so afraid of turning into his father that he let's her run rough shod over him. He used to be edgy and hungry. Now he got fat and happy and his comedy is suffering. Hope she leaves him and takes half. A fitting end.

Im 53 and didnt know anything about lotion until about 5 years ago after first watching this bit. Burr is hilarious. You guys were alot of fun. There are a bunch of hilarious Burr bits
I’m a 49yo white dude who literally looks like an aging pirate ( long beard, bandanna) but my d/ck still looks brand new. Love your burr reactions…. Keep it up guys 👍
This is my all time favorite skit of Bill's because the story he tells about how he discovered lotion is almost the exact same as mine. I was dating a wonderful young black woman. We were getting ready to go out, after the shower she hands me her lotion and I have a confused look like what do i need this for. That was a fun learning experience, cocoa butter is the shit. Also, i 100% believed the same thing as Bill about being itchy in the winter and this skit showed me i wasnt alone.
Listen, I’m 54 years old. I love stand-up comedy been going to comedy clubs for decades. Bill Burr is the shit. He is one of the greatest comedians of all time.
That's definitely a fact about the lotion...but it's mostly a white MALE thing. I'm 44 & for as long as I can remember I cover myself from head to toe when I get out of the shower. In fact, I just recently threw away a bottle of lotion I bought my husband. I bought it 16 years ago when we were 1st married.
Yep, I'm a brown guy and all my white girlfriends covered themselves from head to toe in lotion after showering. My white guy friends only used sunscreen haha
the part about whiteys and lotion is so true, I did the exact same thing as Bill with the towel and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't know the word "ashy" 😅
I am 32 white and can confirm I literally didn’t know anything about lotion until this year. It actually changed my life low key. 😂😂 I always had itchy skin.
Fortunately, I had friends in high school who taught me about ashy and moisturizing. One friend said they used Crisco if they ran out of lotion until they could get more, If anyone got ashy they would get called the "gray ghost" until somebody shared some lotion with them,. I am white and one time they told me to pull down my knee socks and my skin flake dust flew everywhere. My friends shared lotion with me and told me to put some shine on my legs. That's when I started moisturizing all the time. I agree, it's good to have friends from every group of cultures you can.
You gotta check out his Philadelphia rant! Huge drunk crowd gets roasted for 10 minutes straight cause Bill was pissed that they booed the comedian that went on before him. Legend!
😂 I was 15 when my aunt Shanika I called her (momma Shanika) told me about being ashy, cocobutter has been my friend every since lol I was in fact horrified that I was ashy 😂. Rest in peace to momma Shanika, i miss her all the time 🖤🖤
Oh Lord I'm laughing so hard.. but I have to say Thank You to my Great Grandmother (Sicilian Italian and that's pretty close to Africa)...she told me at 12 yrs old... always moisturize!!!!.. I'm 56 now and look ten years younger.. Lotion Lotion Lotion... This old white lady is thankful... lmao
Bill Burr is a legend! It's so genius how he talks about being ignorant of gun laws while he's scratching his itchiness, so hilarious!! Keep up the great reactions!!
As a white guy, I also didn’t start using lotion until my 30s. And didn’t start using a wash cloth in the shower until my 30s too. Thank you, black people. Bill’s right, you gotta hang out with everyone lol
White women moisturize. We just don't do it all day long like our Black sisters do. We take a shower, put that sh on everywhere, and go about our day. We might put it on our hands throughout the day because hand washing dries your skin out, but other than that...I had a friend in junior high who was always putting lotion on. I just thought that was her "thing". Then I went to her house and saw the big lotion bottles in the shower and the sink and was like, "dang...her whole family is really into lotion". Nope. They were just Black and didn't wanna look ashy. 😂
My first reaction: Oooo love his hair, wish MINE was that long... and then you both started laughing. The smiles, the grinning, put a smile on MY face first thing in the morning.
38 year old American here and i thought the lotion was only for old ladies. I would spend a week or so with my grandmother during summers. I loved watching her sit at her big desk with mirrors doing her before bed routine. I can remember the smell like it was yesterday. I would wake up to train going through and rhe smell of breakfast being cooked. I was an only child and she loved me so. I went around my elbow to look at my watch buy nostalgia is strong right now.

Its always funny when some stereotype turns out to be true Im white like flour and i never ever use lotion because i actually dont get ashy or dry at all for some reasons, i think it has something to do with my skin somehow and probably how oily it gets After a hard day's work i get "dirty skin" and dead skin but then after a shower everything is back to being smooth and clean, its really interesting how different people's skins react to different things
There was a character on The Chappelle show named "Ashy Larry" that I didn't understand, so I had to ask my Caribbean friends what that was all about. We had a good laugh.
I love this clip. I had this white co worker ask me why I was putting lotion on. Mind you I was working in NYC at the time where I thought most knew about things like that but I was quite surprised. I in turn said, “if you had any close black friends you’d know we all use lotion, male or female.” My other co workers laughed out loud because the rest of them were either, Black, Latino or Asian. It’s still true though that white folks, especially males, don’t use lotion. Go to a white friend’s house and see if there’s lotion in the bathroom. I’m thankful I’ve never had to ask my sister in law for lotion. She’s has always had lotion in the bathroom. It’s not the best lotion but hey, beggars can’t be choosers. It’s better than nothing. Lol
this is beyond true. i never used lotion before i was 28 and over ALLLLL THOOOOSSE YEARS i would get itchy after a shower and thought it meant my towel was dirty. This bit blew my mind. I still don’t use lotion though, i hate how it feels on me and for some reason i don’t get itchy anymore.
I have the same aversion to the feel of lotion on my body. Particularly after a shower when I'm still damp. Try fractionated coconut oil. It is odorless and isn't greasy like other oils. I haven't had itchy thighs and shins since I started using after showering. It also has the benefit of being a natural deodorant.
