Amazing sound quality. Thank you. Would you say this solid model is worth the extra 400 bucks in comparison to the standard Sigma J45?

Hi Josh I wanted to personally say that I love your playing, and watch all the demos... The sound quality is beautiful... I am starting to record acoustic guitar instead of one mic 🎤 use 2 mics into Apple into Pro Logic X... my question - you like the 2 mics one over the other? Helps reduce phasing... I have same 2 types... your thoughts appreciated, thank you josh

Hi Daniel, thanks for the message. The two mics in that position is first of all a practicality to keep the mics out of the way of obscuring the view of the guitar. These videos are about the visuals of the guitar as much as the sound of the guitar. Second of all it is a phase issue thing. Third of all, the position is in my humble opinion the best position between boomy and thin for capturing the guitar from the ‘tonal centre’ if you will. Fourthly recording mid side, which is my general set up, is a fairly expansive sonic ‘view’ of the guitar, again, this is in my humble opinion. It gives you a ‘side to side’ and ‘round about’ view of the guitar due to the cross referenced capsule views being cardioid from one and figure of eight on the other. I always double check phase before bouncing down. I think two mics give more ‘information’ regarding the complexity of the tonality especially in the mid range of an acoustic guitar. This is not the best way to record in every situation. It works well in this situation because we are trying to capture as wide a scope as possible for what the guitar possibly sounds like under the mics. It is probably too ,expansive’ within the confines of a track where we want the guitar to have a smaller sonic footprint. Lastly this is not the only or indeed ‘best’ way to record a guitar but is quick and convenient and consistent for this situation and a similar level playing field for comparison with other guitars in our shop. Again, the internet is a horrible place, so I will reiterate, these are only my opinions and should not be taken as how it should always be done or that I claim that this is the best way. It is simply A way.
