Abby Martin is an American journalist, show presenter, activist, and artist. She helped found the citizen journalism website Media Roots and is the host of the investigative documentary and interview series The Empire Files. Martin has been involved in numerous film projects, including producing the recent feature documentaries Gaza Fights for Freedom, and she is currently producing another feature entitled Earth’s Greatest Enemy.

At one time the Empire Files was covered on "Free Speech" TV .Abby"s honesty as a journalist is beyond reproach.
Basically, a lot of journalists are expected to be unquestioning mercenaries with a pen while moan about RT. Considering what was done to Iraq and Iraqis and international law, you would have thought a certain power's oligarchs, billionaire's would have received the same treatment not that I think everyone who's wealthy should be punished for the actions of states.

Yes it had a lot of journalists who were impeccable in their professionalism and integrity. They were able to address so many issues and so many important topics that would never have had the chance to have such a podium under any other circumstances that you can only say it was a great addition to our society as an instrument of balance to a free press. It served a valuable role and we will need to find ways to carry on the struggle in it's absence and find our own path.

1) I watched plenty of video from Ottawa and saw nothing to suggest the protests were dominated by "far-right extremists and nut-jobs" ... evidence please ...
2) I take the organizers at their word that their goals were to compel Trudeau to drop the mandates and abandon any plans for VAX passports ...
3) Given these goals, why should the ideology of the organizers matter?
4) So what if the lead organizer and spokesman was not a trucker? So what? ... this position requires some very special skills ...
5) Although a donation of 200k was made to the convoy, what proof do we have that the convoy really was an orchestrated "astro-turf" campaign? ...

I think the comment by Abby regarding "Lizard Brain" activation is right on. We are being maintained in a constant emotional state. PTSD and neurological studies have shown that when the brain is kept in this state for extended periods the structure of the brain actually changes, and these changes can make it harder to engage the rational brain. I cannot think of a better way to control a population and make them receptive to simplistic and deceptively easy solutions.

Abby has always been leading the way in journalism. I first saw her covering the Syrian war and I've always been impressed by her reporting ever since. She actually goes to the places in person a lot of the time. Not content to sit in some office back in USA and regurgitate talking points. She sees the reality for herself and then forms her opinions. We need more reporter's like this, who care more about the story, the true story, then the paycheck and the office politics.

Well, this is the moment I became aware of either Maximillian Alvarez or Abby Martin, and I am a bit shaken, because they helped me realize how uncritical I have been in accepting the news I see and ignorant about the news I can't see. What I've taken away from this is the impression that the US is so loudly supportive of the Ukrainian people not because they actually want their lives to go well, but because we want them to fight harder - to spill more blood and sacrifice more lives - to fulfill our geopolitical interest, not theirs. It's very convenient for us that a key adversary's strength is sapped by a war in which others suffer.
Ms Martin. A footnote which will not surprise you. The BBC, - which I watch mainly to get UK sports news - invited me to complete an on line questionnaire on their coverage on the Ukraine war. It began with a long list of MSM outlets, CNN, Guardian, and many others, none of which I pay much attention to. On learning that I didn´t watch or read them, the BBC closed the interview. RT, Empire Files, Grayzone, were not on the list. Keep up the splendid work you do.

The most impactful and challenging aspect to the censorship is that it appears, for some, it's cross-platform. And it appears to be profile based. Not content based. Meaning, there have been profiles built of individuals, and it doesn't matter what platform they share to, or what the exact content of their shared information is; it's suppressed or removed via algorithm and/or human screening. I've had posts removed from public hashtag collections 4-5 months after the fact. And of content that was not political or controversial in any manner. And I've seen it happen to others as well. They aren't just marginalizing ideas, they are marginalizing specific people. Likely based on ideology and perceived threat level assessments as social contagion vectors. Just like the documented blacklists in the 50s and 60s; that were meant to target specific people and socially isolate them.
One could wish the major news outlets advocated for peace and held people in power accountable but they do the exact opposite.

Everywhere in the world children learn violence from day one, and few are raised to the higher ideals and most are either raised to the more brutish ones or are exposed socially from birth to those principles. A few have something within them that makes them rise to more beautiful realms of living and thinking, but they are the few, not the majority.
Yes, we have to stop the American War Machine somehow or else see the planet reduced once again to the most basic forms of life, but we also have to figure out a way to raise sane and compassionate humans that won't need invisible lines to make them different from the people on the other side of that fictional line.

My anti war, pro peace view goes back to Anti Vietnam War protests in the 1960s. Even then, we didn’t buy the rationale of sending troops to Southeast Asia. Then it was the domino effect of China taking over. In 2003, when the war in Iraq was being discussed, I saw others from my generation out protesting that decision. NYC separated the protesters so they could not congregate in one place. That allowed the reporting the numbers of people voicing their opposition not to see the full statement being made. I have objected to all of these military actions since then and only found others who believed the same on channels like RT.
My recollection is similar, but not identical... Here in Cali, circa 1965-74, it was a fear of RUSSIA (highly relevant again today) that was supposed to be the puppet master behind the escalating domino effect... China was largely portrayed as a Russian puppet state, used by Russia as the threatened boots on the ground, and overt arms supplier, of America's various socialist enemies.
