Jimi Hendrix is a true hero. It is a pity that his stage act is always emphasized in such a way that it overshadowed his natural beautiful guitar playing. It is not for nothing that Hendrix wanted to turn his back on this experience act at the end of his life. Unfortunately, management and fans thought otherwise.
Check out the live footage (not audio) of him with Band of Gypsys live @ Filmore East performing Machine Gun. Greatest guitar performance ever, he's just standing very still, emotionless, SHREDDING that guitar & that song. Absolutely mind blowing.
Everyone wanted to play and sound like him. Played guitar with strings strung upside down, left handed- who in flaming hell does that? James Marshall Hendrix- the only one.

He was worked in to the ground in life as in death. Remember that when you see sub-par shows (with often bad quality recordings). Also, how many rehashed re-released cd's can the estate come up with?! They haven't produced anything of quality for years (barringg the Song Valleys of Neptune).
Go listen to the original albums, and a few of his landmark shows. You'll see scary he was about, and hopefully see just went Jimi is soooo highly regarded, and rightly so.
I saw one man playing Hendrix and it was as close as it'll ever be, Randy Hansen
TheLeadSled frusciante?
Aquatic Highs unfortunately, NO
TheLeadSled You want some one as unique as Hendrix. Check Out Robert Randolph and The Family Band.
Aquatic Highs frusciante is closer to hendrix than srv
eddie hazel is the closest to jimi
Jimi Hendrix is a true hero. It is a pity that his stage act is always emphasized in such a way that it overshadowed his natural beautiful guitar playing. It is not for nothing that Hendrix wanted to turn his back on this experience act at the end of his life. Unfortunately, management and fans thought otherwise.
Check out the live footage
(not audio) of him with Band of Gypsys live @ Filmore East performing Machine Gun. Greatest guitar performance ever, he's just standing very still, emotionless, SHREDDING that guitar & that song. Absolutely mind blowing.
There is another master of Masters and that Mr. Frank Marino, but Jimi is the fuse of guitar
Frank Marino- undeniable Kanadian treasure
The closest thing to Jesus we ever got.
And to think the guy was just getting started
Jimi was a one off✌
Jimi put all the talk into Action
Is there more to this documentary? Like a full length film?
One of a kind, never to be heard of again .Never hear surfer music again.✌
Everyone wanted to play and sound like him. Played guitar with strings strung upside down, left handed- who in flaming hell does that? James Marshall Hendrix- the only one.
a confused individual

Dont forget.. Hendrix influences.. John lee hooker , muddy waters , lighting hopkins, sun house, ect..
Once had a dream where i was supposed to jam with him on stage .we want to play machine gun.he gave me a guitar .a white strat.and looked at me...
By the shock I woke up , still feeling the cold body and the weight of the guitar in my hands .my heart pumped so heavy ...it was .an experience
machine gun is a masterpiece...sure..but some shows were below par - example isle of wight 1970
We hear about Hendrix being able to play right handed as well. I’ve never seen any photos or videos to exemplify this but look from 3:07 after Paul Rogers talks about Hendrix playing with this teeth. Is that a backwards video or Hendrix playing right handed? It looks like he’s playing a Flying V; if he was playing a Strat, it would be easier to tell.
listen to ronnie wood talking about jimi playing is guitar right handed and theres footage of him backstage at a rolling stones concert playing mick taylors sg
@@stephenboyes5189 There's another British guitar player in an interview, too, who said he saw Jimi playing his guitar right handed, and he said, shocked at Hendrix being able to play that way, "Hey . . . that's my guitar" wherein Hendrix said "Oh sorry. Here you go" and began to hand him back the guitar. The guy said, "No . . . I mean" and gestured a Hendrix flipping the guitar over. And he did. "And he played the same nonsense he was playing right handed. Then he looked at me with this stupid smile on his face." I wish I could remember where I saw that. It wasn't Ron Wood but some other player from that group of musicians.
@@rabbitshirt ye ive seen that clip the guy was having a party at his house ... the clip at the rolling stones concert is on here were hes playing the sg upside down the thick e string at the bottom....the guy was from another dimension
What does Leon say in 1:48..."I wish the guitar was a bigger (???)"
rafasounds2010 instrument
Thank you Ace!
Only 1 Jimi. The best
What’s the track starting at 1 minute?
What the concert at the start
I mean we can all say what happened to Jimmy unless people actually there right there today what happened to him we don't know we just are a lot of stories that says what happened to Jimmy but I wasn't there when he died so I can't I can't say what happened what I think happened to him but I don't know all I know is that Jimmy was Jimi Hendrix was a exceptional great guitar player and he was hit and his music his style his music was way ahead of his time and he was ahead of his own time back in the late sixties and he's deathly Shirley and he has surely been missed and he's always going to be missing Jimi Hendrix his one-of-a-kind nobody can ever play just like him there's no one else that can play copy his style vase they complained sound like Jimi Hendrix but it's not Jimi Hendrix was Jimi Hendrix has been he's been he's gone he's been gone since 1970
Jimi capital of🎸
The dude at the 00:53 mark says it all...
Please tell me the name of the track he's playing on the last scene
Can somebody help me out, who is the guy at 0:30? He looks familiar but I'm blanking .. apologies if that's a dumbass question
Jimi Hendrix.
01:37 Is Clapton sporting a Slayer T - shirt ? If yes ,won´t somebody kill me , please ?
Missed ..........................
John McLaughlin, Al Dimeola, Les Paul, Neal Schon...they would ALL smoke Hendrix
Jimi was awsum, but all y'all in music are blessed by god,to do what you guys do and we are all thank full,I'm laughing that I forgot the whammy bar is on the top where its supposed to be ,and Jimi's laughing now that's where it should be,hah hah,THANKS I not saying nobody can play like Hendrix, but start play the six string upside down, bending the low notes ,and don't forget to leave your upper wrist on the whammy baar 100% of the time,oh yeah except for when the wind crys Mary..............a broom is drealy sweeping up the piece of yesterdays life some where a queen is weeping.......
Hendrix was reincarnated as a guitar
He never came to Australia or New Zealand a pity
Wow
WOW
All these fools trying to predict where Hendrix was going to go, hahaha as if we knew. The music he was going to make I think is yet to be heard, we just need musicians to feel inspired and write from their heads, and maybe someone will find that new sound.
“Mediocre rhythm section” is a huge understatement
It was Noel Redding that SUCKED.
He was the weakest bass player of his generation. He played with a horrible fuzzy tone and had no groove at all.
The funny thing about mitch and Noel is that they thought that they were as big as Jimi.
yes. GREAT post. Creamy :)
Baker the shuffle drummer calling Mitch Mitchell the funk drummer mediocre
I would put John Frusciante somewhere in Jimi's league but even that's a stretch. I think John has the same magic but Jimi was just limitless. Maybe I'm full of it but I love them both.
Please let no one get hung up on Ginger Baker's opinion of any other drummer. The guy was a master drummer, but also a jealous, crazy git!
A like to all the comments; I don't have time available to click a like for them all. Such a pity no one was there to truely care for Jimi.
