My partner and I discovered this album on a dark yet starry summer night in Florida this past year.. we were living in our van that we converted, exploring around. We were in St. Augustine one morning, searching for a place to sleep later that night, and we came across a free campground online called Bayard National Forest WMD. We spent the day in St. Augustine, then went to a store to grab some supplies and a bottle of wine. I drove on the way there, as my partner was exhausted, so he slept in the back. I had seen an advertisement on instagram earlier that week for this album and thought it looked interesting so I already had it downloaded, and decided to burn some incense, and give it a listen on the way there. The road I was driving seemed to be taking us deeper and deeper into the Florida wilderness, and this music seemed to perfectly encompass everything I was witnessing, and every energy that the forests were giving off. Seeing the tall Florida pines and the low-growing palmettos, the sounds of exotic frogs and cicadas, the subtle yet deep whoosh of the wind brushing through those pines, and the knowing that you are surrounded by so much ancient wisdom... it almost makes you wanna cry, but it also makes you feel like a child again, experiencing the earth for the very first time. It was probably around midnight when we finally arrived at Bayard, and as I drove inward I was unsure that this was what we thought.. just a long, slightly sandy road leading right through the middle of this majestic pine forest, but something told me to keep going. As I did I began to see sectioned off pieces of land along the sides of this road, with little fire pits and gates leading to trailheads. I decided to pull into one and proceeded to wake my partner up. I told him about everything I was feeling, how mystical the drive there had been, and the energies that I was experiencing. We cracked open our bottle of wine, I restarted this album for him since he hadn't gotten to hear it yet, and we decided to continue along this magical road on foot. Not a soul in sight, just us, true loves essence, this music, and the pure, subtropical Florida wilderness. I'll never forget how it felt to witness the pine canopy silhouettes in the foreground of that starry sky... I don't think words can begin to describe the energy that was present that night, other than maybe god... all I know for certain is that this music was meant for that night. This music was that night, this music was Bayard. We stayed up all night listening to this, drinking our wine and foraging for firewood, identifying plants and the sounds of frogs, being merry and grateful and in love.. Thank you Dean and Dudley Evenson for tuning into our earth in the way that you do and composing it into these melodies.
Rising like a dragonfly from the surface of the pond and searching forever, the flute expresses freely-brushed colors that take precedence over fixed lines and contours, and with the harp, the sound emphasizes shapes and forms at the edge of the place where the day meets the world under the water.
Dean and Dudley made this incredible sound melding perfectly with the view of the gardens… Thank you so much for sharing all of your talents, much love to the sweetest couple!
Thank you both for the most enjoyable peaceful look at Monet's beautiful garden. You never talked all the way through it like some people do but instead let the garden shine and the music was perfect. You are really good film makers and I look forward to watching more of your wonderful work. Thank you both so much ❤❤❤.
