- Hello there! Hola todos! 안녕!大家好!In this video I want to share with you guys how to study and acquire a language on your own without attending classes. The entire process could be cost-free, and that's a principle I swear by when I study languages, which is that language-learning should be possible without having to spend money. So today I'd like to share with you this step-by-step guide to learning a language by yourself!
My native language is Mandarin Chinese (Dongbei dialect) and I have studied English for many years. All the other languages I learned by myself in my spare time. You can also check out the videos in which I speak Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, and Uyghur in the videos below, just to confirm I'm not a fake polyglot haha.

I just came back from Japan and found myself speaking better Japanese than I did 20 years ago studying in college! Reinvigorated my love for the language, culture, food, etc.
@@Makkara91 looking forward to studying Vietnamese sometime too!
@@EBattousai wow immediately jealous, I plan to go to Japan within the next year or two as well🍻
I am learning english and chinese, I never miss your videos, it's so helpful for me ❤

Thank you for sharing!
Hi Phoenix, thank you for being an inspiration and taking the time to put this vid together. I am teaching myself latin because I want to master my spanish, advance my french and begin portuguese. I can't believe how much fun it's been almost re-taking my HS and College Spanish and College French with the grammars being the same while more detail.
Thanks for the comment! Glad you are enjoying the learning process!!
视频最后部分说得太棒了!
謝謝!

Hey dude, big fan from Florida! I’ve been watching you for some odd years because I really like your vibe and I too am addicted to languages. I have 3 I speak relatively fluently, and about 5 more that I can speak at a beginner level. (And many more bits and pieces) I agree with a lot of what you preach and I especially loved that last statement you closed on. I find it hard to explain a drive for learning foreign languages to my mostly monolingual American cohorts. But it’s the direct connection to a whole nother society, and perspective on the world and life, that is such a draw for me. I may not be Pitbull, but language learning truly makes me feel like Mr. Worldwide.
PS please read that last joke in that middle aged lady’s voice from that TikTok.
PPS currently learning te reo Māori, and man is a Polynesian language fun. Its particle based grammar is complex yet easy to pick up. Its word structure is logical and fun. Its phenology is simple and sounds so distinctive; I love it. And there are a ton of interesting grammatical quirks that provide a very unique Māori perceptive of life. Definitely put it on your list.
Hello there! Thanks a lot for your support! Māori sounds like an interesting languages and quite a challenge, I wonder if there’s a lot of materials on the internet. I’ve been studying Uyghur and one of the biggest challenges is the lack of available materials. Is Māori a language of the Austronesian family BTW
@@phoenixhou4486 yeah material is hard to come by, I ordered a set of textbooks from New Zealand which I use for creating my Anki deck, and it does a pretty good job of explaining the grammar. It’s called Te Kākano
最近在学习荷兰语, but mostly just watching dutch videos on youtube and learning the script. It works pretty well for me. By this way i've learned new words that i can actually remember and i ask chatgpt to explain the grammar to me if i couldn't understand the sentence structrue. Next step i guess is to find a textbook to study systematically cuz i've already developed interests and can understand basic dialogue and capture some phrases (proud face haha). Hope i can start easy conversations in september when i arrive in belgium:) Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for your comment! Talking to ChatGPT is a pretty good idea!
This very helpful for beginner and thanks you so much for making this❤❤ I will now stick with my textbook instead of jumping around hoarding resources😂
Glad you find it helpful! Best of luck to you on your language learning journey!
学到很多!现在正在备考雅思,同时想自学日语!谢谢千雪的分享!❤❤
感谢支持!加油啦!💪🏼
越来越喜欢看你的视频了,祝一切好!
謝謝!
Hello, I just found this video right at this moment, what textbook/s did you use to study Spanish? I'm learning it right now and although I did find some textbooks online, it's not helping me that much.
I used the only textbook I could get my hands on when I was in China, I’m sure there are plenty of good ones out there😝
i missed u
But how can you know if a certain textbook is good or bad, or if it fits you, before reading a few chapters? I think it's inevitable to jump back and forth between different books.
From my experience, several pages should provide a decent picture of whether the book explains things clearly enough, or in a style of my preference.
Do you have a textbook that you would recommend for learning Mandarin Chinese?
Sorry with that I can help very little, as Chinese is my native language, I could never see the language through a language-learner’s eyes 🥲
@@phoenixhou4486 no worries - thanks for responding anyways! Really enjoy your videos
@@MrBrown95 thanks!
I want to learn chinese and don't know where to start or how
