I love these analyses im sick of all these yt vids like “new wr analysis” and shit and all they do is like explain how every single run has over gone since like late 2020, like explain micro lensing, and hype up the one cycle. This is a real analysis
20:37 I suspect that the reason why soulspeed works that way is because if it didn't then it would act weird when you jump in the air, so they made it not disable until you have a block below you that's not air.
Overall, really enjoyed the video. Good analysis as always, and hope to see more. While I miss the old era of diverse runs, I feel that getting to this point was inevitable.
The second portal decision could be offset to the calculator. It could assume your first portal to be in the chunk where it's first used, and then recommend building a second portal or not based on if the top result ends up being too close or not. It could even recommend a safe portal, just outside the snap zone, but closer to the stronghold than the first one (if the starter is 9 chunks away, it would give you portal for 10 chunks away, just over the border, that could potentially still eye-spy even).
as someone who casually follows minecraft speedrunning but isn't involved with the community at all, I've always loved your analysis videos, love getting to see a more in depth look at the theory that goes into minecraft speedrunning and how it's applied
About eye measurements at 35:30, gui scale actually doesn't impact how you align the crosshair because of the way it scales, if you try adjusting your gui scale while you have your cursor lined up you'll see it's still lined up no matter what gui scale you are on
must be 1440p only quirk then, in the calculator theres a setting called crosshair correction that was made for me since i use a small gui scale on 1440p and the crosshair doesnt line up correctly
If he had waited for 6 rods to leave the nether, he would've saved minimum 11-12 seconds. He would've had to go through the portal animation 2 less times, not just once. Then moving to the portal from the overworld instead of pearling to the stronghold lost 2 seconds like you said, but that also applies to moving back to the spawner in the nether. So most likely 15 seconds of time save. I might be wrong about some of these numbers, but it's definitely more than 6 seconds.
@@chimpa I'm not talking about going through the portal the first time. That overlaps with spawns. I'm talking about when he exits the second time. There is nothing he is waiting for in those 4 seconds.
reign had mined 9 gravel before sitting in the portal frame, not 6, so with bang average flint rates he'd expect to get flint on the very next block mined, but instead mined 27 blocks (the last two unnecessary as he got flint on the 34th and 36th blocks before noticing), so 26*(0.15+0.25) = 10.4 seconds lost to bad RNG i.e pretty much exactly what you said, but just thought I'd "Um actually...🤓 " ya for the sake of accuracy in the minutiae :) twas a groovy analysis and I thankyou for you & ExerSolver setting the record straight with portal-snapping, and that anchor moment is very TrollDespair and my heart aches for Reign 💔
@@NikitaCartes yeah, I didn't say it was super extreme bad RNG - people've gone 100+ (I think possibly also 150+ ) blocks mined with no flint, but when an average run with respect to gravel mining will give a runner RNG at the 50th percentile, someone low-rolling and getting RNG at the 2nd percentile instead is pretty frustrating (especially when those 10 seconds being not lost would've given reign the WR)
theyve changed the mechanics of portal snapping a lot of times throughout history so theres probably a version where that's the case, even across some subversions the mechanic has changed iirc
so the odds of getting flint are 1/10 but statistically, given an infinite number of attempts, the average amount of gravel you need to mine to get flint is infinity

@4723v sorry but. used to
miss the long form analysis need more runs for these
An hour 15 for finding 3 seconds to save.. i love speedrunning

Um actually 🤓 we should expect flint at average after 6 or 7 mined gravel
Probability of 0 flint from 36 gravels not even that low - 2.2%.
Probability of 2 flints one after another - 1%
@@NikitaCartes damn I had no idea, I thought it was 10% chance - thanks for telling me (I realise that sounds sarcastic, but I mean it sincerely) :D

@@CorneliusThroatworthy it is 10% chance but 0.9 (chance of gravel) ^ 6.5 (number of mined blocks) ≈ 0.5 (chance of getting 0 flint from 6.5 gravel)
nice analysis I learned some stuff to keep in mind while speedrunning
bro i love watching these while i fall asleep thanks
great analysis as usual
really enjoyed this
We need more best runs of history
This is pretty epic
very enjoy watching this!
do u think you'd be able to do a tutorial on how to download the mod packs for a speedrun practice eg bastion, dragon, waterrun
ty for providing 1:15 hours of entertainment
huh, didnt know about the nether portals. I thought it was a 128 block radius.

Would love an analysis for zy's 9:52 from yesterday
50% of the time you get flint by the 7th gravel iirc so think of it like a coin flip every 7 gravel
11:09 on average this will be 6-7 gravel broken
41:30 personal timestamp
Love to those analysis video cuz I can learn a lot from
Btw I think it’s because the gravel rng?
Can you make a video on crookst 6.27 end enter. Wr lost. Would have bin a sub 7.
the fastest plausible endfight is NOT 33 seconds.
@@maximus3294 with faster stronghold navigation it would be sub 7
if he had perfect rng in this run how fast would it be? like getting flint etc...
sub8 if with blaze rates
Zayum
sub 8
poor reign
Sure.

I missed these
could of played the seed better and got a better time smh

cool
probability professor kek
really good vid btw well done and thanks
Everyone can figure out how he could have saved 3 seconds without watching a 1 hour and 15 minutes video
Thats not the point
I’d love to see u explain fish generation mechanics in a bt and how that relates to the differences between salmon and cod in a run
Like bossman, if u don’t wanna watch it don’t watch it no ones making u
