Alabasta has great moments, but sometimes drags a bit. However there are a lot of things that are important in the future and we don't give them the right value when we see it.
As funny as it is that Usopp wrote out all the party uses for the Clima Tact first, let's not forget that Nami has had plenty of time to read the instructions and just didn't.
One of the best parts about Bon-chan is hearing the other voice actors impersonating his weird cadence of speech. I really want to see how they do it in S2 of the live action.
oh i LOVE the nami-miss doublefinger fight!! cant wait for episode 117 next time :))) first of all bc im a nami stan, but mostly bc i first watched the alabasta arc when i was a young teenager, and id never seen the (often only) girl in a show actually having the thought of "i want to get stronger for my friends". thats usually sadly only ever reserved for the male main characters, at least at the time (mid 2000s). and adding to that is the fact that the WAY she fights is extremely creative and exciting to watch! i often get a bit bored by the "just hitting each other until one person faints/dies" fighting dynamics, though one piece is pretty good in general at not making luffys fights for example too boring. idk about you, but when i play rpgs, i ALWAYS first play the mage type of classes/characters, and nami with her clima takt is pretty much exactly that :D god, the memories of running around in my parents garden when i was young, picking up a really good stick and fighting with my little sister, pretending to make heat balls and cool balls and making clouds out of them :D
Namis Clima Tact is probably one of my favourite weapons - in fiction in general, even beyond One Piece. Especially when Nami is one of very few characters that is able to use it to its greatest effects !!!
@14:47 "Just patiently waiting." In Japanese schools, it used to be a common form of punishment to make troublemakers stand out in the hallway holding full buckets.
Nami finally getting her moment is great, although one thing I can't unsee/unhear is when Double Finger revs up and rolls at Nami someone dubbed over that scene Green Hill Zone from Sonic
Yup this is the first big battle on the grand line, i dont want to take the value of the previous arks, but this is where it starts, before grand line it was the preludes after all 😊
Id say this arc is being considered "good" not a lot of people would rank this as their fav. But here in arabasta all the mystery begins. Name drops of things like pluton etc. Looking back everything in this arc matters so after this point i suggest u pay really good attention ;)
@@sarafontanini7051 its the arc that i remember from my childhood and made me start one piece. So i understand. Thats the beauty of one piece, everyone can have their fav arc and its all valid
One piece has the most mystery of all shows that's why it makes you wonder and question and make theories about it because of how good the plot and the mystery of the show
26:35 I love alabasta and think a lot of people underrate it, but i find it hard to argue it into my top ten arcs, which is not a complaint about this arc's quality but a testament to how great so many future arcs are.
Regarding, will our crew get a power up, no spoilers.. just a general take :- There are some Tropes in literature, that people dislike, and Oda manages to subvert some elements of said Trope and make it acceptable. Not always, but he gets it.
I'm around episode 750 right now, and I'd say out of all of the arcs I've seen, Alabasta falls somewhere in the middle for me. There's definitely some arcs I love more, but there are definitely some I would put below this too.
Nami relied on lies, charm, and thieving in the East Blue but in the Grand Line those skills can only do so much when others are more accustomed to those tactics. Remember that she was never able to defeat or even fight a single Fishman from Arlong's Crew yet Usopp (a bigger coward than herself) defeated Choo all by himself due to his vast variety of ammo. Nami's Bo-Staff Skills are average so Usopp made her a weapon that pairs well with her knowledge of weather due to her navigational skills.
17:45 - i dont like longnose, but i'll defend him saying that she should have read the instructions sooner, like while they were travelling the desert. that being said... Usopp really should've put that stuff in the background rather than the foreground.
to be fair, usopp probably wanted to have nami join in the parties they have when NOT fighting for their lives c: cause he likes to play around with luffy and thougth nami might wanna join in too
So Miss Doublefinger is so named because of January 1st. As in 1/1. Or two fingers, if you will. All the Baroque Works female agents are named after days of the week or holidays, Like Wednesday, or Valentine.
There is a reason why the kids call One Piece as "One Peak"... it is literally the greatest narrative fantasy of our generation. Maybe ever at this point.
It’s one of my favorite arcs but this is far from the best arcs. It really does just get better and better (not every arc is a home run, but they’re all good and better than most battle shounen arcs).
9:15 - Oda might've considered blood at one point and ultimately decided "yeah, that's a bit much for a Shonen." as the show can get bloody, but vomiting blood was probably a bit too far.
Alabasta Saga is a B+ for me, it would be an A, but those pacing issues in the desert... not great. not the worst mind you, but not great. i'll save my ranking of the next Saga for the next time you ask.
One of the favorite arcs in the series? Oddly enough, no. Tells you where the bar is set for this story. Objectively though, for what it covers, what it shows us what it tells us, it is a very important Arc. The Alabasta Saga really, so that includes Little Garden, Whiskey Peak and Drum Island. We see the nascent bonds starting to grow between the crew, and we see them learn that the world is so much bigger than they ever knew. Side note: The top agents* all have numbers and their female partners have days for code names. The lower level agents are days of the week the higher level agents are holidays or special days in increasing importance according to Oda. Miss Double Finger is January 1st, and Miss All Sunday is every Sunday because Oda likes Sundays. *Won't get into the whole bit about the agents being the men and their partner being women. It was the late 90s
Anything: *appears on-screen* Any western reactor: "I wonder how they gonna do it iN tHe LiVe AcTiOn" Where do I insert money to stop hearing about the live action? Where's this hope even coming from? And why them cutting out absolutely everything they could to save any budget isn't obvious yet? Crocodile will be just some random dude with his hair licked back and wearing a coat. The LA hasn't yet gone any further than the actors only visually resemblancing the characters. They would have cut Luffy, if they could. That's why only the last episode of ThE lIvE aCtIoN had him use the gomu gomu no rocket. While in the manga/anime he spams different moves almost every chapter/episode. At this point just go watch a school play based on one piece or something - basically on the same same level of cringe, just without the wonky CG.

To be fair Usopp only finished it right before they reached Rainbase.

The fact that Miss Doublefinger’s attack Stinger Hedgehog is a reference to Sonic is still absolutely amazing to me 🥰

I always thought they were listening and sympathizing with Nami.. but of course they were just being baaaakas!!
Alabasta is probably my second favourite arc, its great, its the arc that made me fall in love with one piece
Emily Rudd playing Bon Clay will be hilarious.
Yoooo that will be hilarious

Usopp did nothing wrong. Entirely Nami's fault for waiting until she was in the middle of fight to read the manual for her new weapon.
I blame Usopp for bothering making any of that a feature 😂

We've seen characters vomit blood many times in the series already. Luffy vomited blood a few episodes ago when he got impaled.

Hello
This doesn't even close to any of the good arcs. Like Alabasta is okay, but nothing compared to what's to come!
