    This race was a disgrace. Camelot should've been awarded this race and therefore the Triple Crown because Al Zarooni had been subsequently caught pumping rocket fuel into his horses. A shocking disgrace.

      I come back and watch this every so often. It was a bad ride from Joseph in fairness but when he was pulled out he had about 4 lengths to make up and only lost it by 3/4 of a length goes to show the class the horse up against a horse on performance enhancers. I agree he was robbed and should have been awarded the race 👍

  • @azertyuiop32
    @azertyuiop32 12 лет назад +2

    ........however the jockey on the winner outfoxed him and kicked for home when young o brien was sitting scratching his arse. when he finally realised his pre-race plan of winning hard held was pretty much fucked, he then attempted to reel in the winner but unfortunately it was too little too late.
    this isnt an isolated incident of incompetence from him. ive already mentioned his ride on cristoforo columbo. his ride on st nic abbey back in the spring when he got beat by windsor palace was a joke

    All praise to Aiden O'Brien and the owners for attempting the triple crown. Just goes to show what a champion Nijinsky was! Take nothing away from Camelot. It was a brave effort, but colliding with with Michelangelo cost him the race. It would have helped if he had been able to have a tussle with encke from about the four furlong marker. One thing is for sure, he is a stayer. Maybe something not quite right with him? Nijinsky and the Brigadier were beaten at the end of their careers.Heroes all!

    Camelot is a very unlucky loser here. Poorly ridden, he was staying on strongly at the end and it was really sad to see him get beat. We would be lucky to see another horse try for the triple crown and it would have been really special to see him win as I really feel he was definitely the best horse in the race.

    well done to joseph o brien for costing camelot, his trainer and his connections the chance to be associated with a trple crown winner which is something that will probably never even be attempted, never mind achieved, in my lifetime.
    i said after his sucidial ride on cristoforo colombo last month in the phoenix stakes that i wouldnt have him anywhere near my horses.

    Completely disgusting now that we know how Godolphin conducts its crooked racing enterprise. Camelot should have been the first Triple Crown winner since Nijinsky in 1970, but the Sheikh decided that he would cheat and win the St Leger for himself. He should be warned off for life.

      999LDS.., in this era godophins improved over the season as the steroid induced muscle growth reached its peak. The conclusion that Sheik Mohammed knew nothing about it, is obviously complete rubbish. The fella probably didn’t know ‘his people’ kidnapped his own daughter either. His presence in British racing is a disgrace, while the Queen accepting horses as gifts from such a person, is clear indictment of the acceptance of criminality by the British monarchy.

      agree - Nashwan would be one of the all time greats if they had run him in St Leger now we think he was just a great horse which is something different. Appreciate the Arc is a great win to have on your CV but personally a TC is more important as you can always come back the next year to win the Arc and even if you try in the same year you always have the 3 week excuse.
      I had the privilege to watch Oh So Sharp win the TC in 85, also went to watch Camelot do the same but he was beaten by a poor ride and some drugs, here is hoping i can watch Love go for it in September!

    Camelot had ever chance to win the race but was simply not good enough on the day,i would say his best trip is 1m1/2 which means his is not seen at his best over 1m6?he was travelling great just behind the winner but didn't have the same burst of speed we know he has at a 1m 1/2,you can see the way his head was up high that he was not himself,don't underestimate the trip being a factor,encke is a fast improving horse and at this trip he proved himself to be top class,blaming job is ridiculous !

    alright, nijinski is a legend, i am still pissed at lester piggott over his ride in the prix de larc. sassafras should never have beaten nijinski lester was much yo confident.and with todays horses the st. leger is too far for the way horses are bred these days, i also think that aiden o brien was after all 5 classics for his own selfish motive,and nijinski never had the benefit of pacemakers that aob uses.

    awful ride by joseph o'brien had every chance to go to the outside like in the derby but instead chose to go down the inside at doncaster of all places. camelot is a good horse and his 4yo career will show that but as for joseph i think he might never want to make a mistake like this again! the winner is a donkey got beaten by noble mission(frankels full brother although nothing like him.) the jockey on the other hand is world class even i have to admit that.

      Kevin Munday: Absolutely, I think Camelots four group 1 wins were against extremely poor quality opposition, and when he met older horses in the Arc he got put in his place, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned with the likes of Nijinsky and other triple crown winners, lefts not forget that Nijinsky won the King George inbetween the Irish Derby and the St Leger.

    I normally rate Joesph; but this was a brain fade. So much faith in the horse he gave him too much to do. Should have given him the beans as soon as he got space in the straight. Must be difficult when you know you’re riding the best horse... added to that who knows what drugs Encke was on.. probably whacked out to the nines on goofballs, given what we found out about the Godolphin operation subsequently.
    The blame was placed entirely on the trainer, but when they do anything right everyone says how Sheik Mohammed tucks the horses in at night..

  • @Jimboh25
    @Jimboh25 12 лет назад

    And also, Frankel has never "ducked" the arc, he was never even entered in the race. And the reason Frankel hasnt run over 14 furlongs like Camelot is because he probably wouldnt stay. He is a miler, its like asking Black Caviar to run 14 furlongs.
