  • This video shows the steps required to install the Zymex padded center console armrest on a fourth generation Mazda MX-5 Miata (2016+ - including ND1, ND2, ND3, soft top and/or RF variants). The specific car in this video is a 2020 MX-5 RF Grand Touring with Snowflake White Pearl Mica exterior paint and Red Nappa Leather interior options.
While this install may appear a little daunting, it's honestly not difficult to install. Simply take your time and be gentle with your interior trim pieces. If something isn't budging, try gently pulling from a different angle to loosen the plastic tabs that hold things in place. With a little patience and finesse, anyone can tackle this project.
Personally, I am very satisfied with the end result and look forward to testing it out with real-world driving. I can already tell the angle of my arm to the shift knob is much improved over the factory arm pad. I also like it removes the possibility of nudging the Infotainment controls. This armrest comes in three color options for the stitching (all meant to replicate factory stitching, depending on your year/model). Below is the link to this armrest:

I used the padded armrest kit from Redline Goods to the same effect. This looks easier as I had to glue the leather to the foam and had to reuse the original lid, but I used memory foam and it feels great. Since you're already in there, I recommend replacing the shifter and parking break vinyl with matching leather (Redline Goods) for a more upscale look.

@@mikeb9569 nice! I'll have to check that out. Same with the shifter/e-brake leather!
