    1: bigger magnifying glass..
2: a lever or string puly to lift the magnifying glass as the sun moves through the day(even over 5 mins it can move off center)
    3: focus to smaller hole
4: paint the back of the bullet black so it absorbs more light.
5: make sure your magnifying glass focuses the infrared heat light wavelengths
I think the magnifying glass can fire the bullet, and perhaps do so faster than you think as long as the bullet absorbs enough sunlight and produces enough heat, and can probably do so faster than you think.

May be next time apply black paint to the primer so it will absorbs all the light energy falls on it.

i always thought the hammer gave so much kinetic force that something inside the bullet makes friction with the magnesium(does bullets have magnesium) or the gun powder giving a combustion effect, the uhhh concentrated sun is still not hot enough with the size of a loupe. so YES you can still make this work if you make the loupe big enough
one guy on yt made literal lava or magma from putting a giant lens the size of a window 4 by 4 on concrete

Since it’s taking awhile to heat up the sun is probably moving and not continuously lined up with the primer

You'll need a way to track the sun's movement across the sky, relative to the stationary bullet plus lens assembly. Your hotspot is moving completely off center in less than 3 minutes.

If you throw bullets into a fire, they will not explode or fire. What happens is, they burn and then popcorn. They call it "popcorn" the inside of the bullet popcorn to prevent accidental firing.

Various magnifying glasses at the same time? Parabolic sun cooker?

Cool idea, I would have loved to see this working.
However, the focus of the light should travel some distance in 5 to 10 minutes and the small dot might not even hit the primer anymore.
A bigger magnifying glass might do the trick to heat up the 50BMG faster. The alternative could be you make a “solar scorcher” those can get very hot within a blink of an eye.

I will definitely have to look into those if I want it to work

Probably not the safest idea you've ever had. If it works and the case explodes, how far will the shrapnel fly?
Up next: hitting rifle round primers with a nail and hammer

Very cool idea. I want to see it work. Just need a way for the focal point to follow the primer. Or just have a few magnifying lenses and just focus them on the casing itself. I don't think it's the primer that fires a bullet that is thrown in a fire; it's the heat of the fire.

Go buy some primers and try it that way. You can focus it better to figure out exactly what you need to do without the worry of the explosion. Try another type of magnifying glass as well. Then transfer what youve learned to your magnifying glass/duct tape setup. Redo video. Make bank. Something like that.

Technically the sun doesn’t move and we move around the sun…but I see what you’re saying. Luckily it wasn’t enough to be too much of a problem. It stayed on the bullet the whole time
