Agassi would never be the player he became without his dad being willing to be the asshole. Later he got a more understanding father figure in Gil Reyes but it was his dad that laid the foundation.
Sometimes I wish I had an obsessive father. Everybody questioning Andre's love of his father he stated in his book that he loves him. This is a father that will not allow his son to go down in poverty. Yes Andre hated his career, but I can promise you where he is now children, wife, money being used for creating meaning Andre will not moan anymore. And no andre does not push his children his father does that by using the same ball canon he used for Andre to coach his grandson in baseball (I guess playing as an 14 year old all star says something).
Shame on you idiots criticizing this man , wish I had father like this to push me , to retire at 35 and have 100 million in bank seems pretty good deal to me , I work 40 hours a week and can hardly afford to live

And by this way, this comment about women not playing against men otherwise they can't play against women is bullshit. Steffi Graf played the men and holds 22 slams, Andre's wife by the way, so he's full of shit on that comment. That's how she developed such a lethal forehand. Now it's a whole different story about man competing against women, that's a whole different scenario. So I'm sorry, but what this guy did was completely wrong. And Andre and his wife Steffi, have decided not to interfere with their kids and not push them into what they don't want. They are supportive parents. Boggles the mind how people stand with this guy.
This man is pure genius. He has heart. He grew up in a rough place, and he can't love in the way Andre wanted love.
