  • I've been playing high stakes cash games on PokerStars since arriving in Vancouver, buying in for $2,000 and battling some of the toughest players online. Here are some of the largest pots I played on Sunday, including one for over $7,800.
I plan on playing more high stakes over the next few weeks, including a $25,000 buy-in tournament tomorrow. That will be streamed tomorrow at 10am PST right here on RUclips!
I'm also giving away 5% of my net profit from this Vancouver trip. Enter the giveaway here: gleam.io/gRP2S/doug-polk-scoo...
Also, be sure to check out the FREE Tournament Workshop over at Upswing: www.upswingpoker.com/tourname...

Sheer statistics o guess. Say 600 people enter a tournament,
Most of them will just be averagish players.
And even being a great player doesn’t guarantee you a huge edge. You might just double or triple your odds of making it to the final table.

So true about tournaments. It's hard to get this through to people, but you could be a live tournament pro for half a decade and in truth really be not much better than a fish on a heater.
The old adage, if you get it in good more than your opponents, the luck will even out in the long run... well, you can just throw that out the window when it comes to tournaments. If you get it all in with AK v AQ and lose on the bubble of the biggest final table of your career, it's little solace to know that next time you get it in the same spot in a $25 game mid way through, it's going to hold up.

03:42... Lol... I think that is true. I've only played in 2 tournaments. I won the first one and came in 5th (no prize) in the second one. To give an idea of how bad I was, I had to use a sheet of paper with a list of poker hands so I would know when I had something really good. Like, a flush is better than a straight but not better than a full house... that kind of list...lolol
Granted, we are talking extremely low end tournaments where you don't even pay to enter. A local bar would hold these tournaments every week. You entered for free and the top 3 winners got vouchers for up $60 or so in bar purchases. Still, there were some pretty decent players there... no way I should have even come close to placing. Like he says, no justice. Just worked in my favor.
