🙃I just got the notification after feeding them whole unpeeled peas couple hours ago😅😅 I got scared when I noticed my fish floating and having a hard time swimming down yesterday. Today it was fine as it was no longer floating but I decided to feed them peas to help their digestive... I did a quick look up but didn’t really do hard research thus me feeding them unpeeled peas 😬Thank you for this video!
Oh man. I was expecting a quick and easy way of de-shelling them. I usually just put the peas in a cereal bowl, then pour on boiling water. Then leave the peas to cool. Then I take the peas and drain the (now cooled) water away. Then take 2 more bowls and then go and watch TV, sat cross legged on the floor, while I de-shell them. One bowl for the shells. The other for the peas.
Going to have a little gold baby soon so I'm learning somethings I'll have to do. I actually like peas without shells too so I'm probably going to be jealous of my little goldie eating them. :)
It is so adorable that you do all this for your fish, but it got me thinking. Why not cook and feed them split peas? Just cook until they're regular pea consistency and not mush; they're already deshelled.
Great Vid but a question. I feed the Fish (7 yo regular plain old Goldfish alone in a 45 gallon tank) 6 medium floating pellets twice a day. *it can take 4 pellets at once. To feed ~2 peas once a week, should I also feed the Fish, the pellets at the same time as the peas, or no pellets when peas are fed? Did that make sense? Thanks
Hey, since you are not keeping the inside of the peas intact, could you place them on a sheet of wax paper and squeeze them out with a rolling pin? Then discard the shells, and freeze the sheet of peas like you would get with a flat pack of brine shrimp?
Hi luke! I set up my fist aquarium with ranchus on it because of you! Anyhoo, a question about the vid: do you use tap water to freeze those pease in the ice cube container? Do you have to worry about the chlorine content of the water that's used to freeze those peas?
@Bryan Amante hmm maybe that works too! So this comment was 3 months ago, and I've been putting the ice cubes straight to the tank and I think there isn't a problem of "being it too cold" at all since they're fine and happy 😁
1 gallon is around 4 litres, Also for them as tank mate, if your tank is large enough and your guppies are fast enough and you manage it well, they can be fine but not recommended
Would dried split peas that are already shelled be ok to use? Would them being dried have any negative effect? It'd be easier to boil some dried split peas and strain them I'd think.
I have been feeding uncooked de shelled peas daily (amongst others foods) for 5 years and and my fish (fantails) are extremely healthy, what is the need for cooking?
Pretty late reply but boiling the peas will soften the inside and deshelling gets rid of the shell, which will make it a lot easier for the fish to digest. Kinda defeats the point of the pea if they have trouble digesting it
Easier way: I get CANNED organic peas with nothing added. I put them in a microwave for 30 seconds and they come out PERFECT! Super soft and easy to take off from the shell. 😎
tysm for this, i live in an english household who will NOT buy ANYY frozen peas. only canned peas🤦♀️. i’ve been looking for ages to see if i can use canned peas, now ik that it’s safe! (2 year late reply 😂)
I'm planning on getting my first goldfish tomorrow, but they're going to be babies and a lot smaller then your fish. Should I still feed them peas or wait til they get bigger?
I jus microwaved a frozen pea for 30 second removed the shell and gave it to my chrimp and my greedy Amano stole it from everyone. Its hilarious how greedy they are carrying a big pea.
Hi! my black moor is struggling to eat the peas by himself because of his swim bladder issues and ive tried hand feeding him but he wont take it :( do you have any tips? im really concerned for him
@@keniag5 hey he is awesome now! it turned out to be parasites and i treated him with levamisole. then used aquarium salt after that and he was back to eating normal😇

If plants from plants vs zombies were real, your goldfish will think it is heaven because of the peashooter

Make sure to have at least 2. Goldfish need friends and a large tank.

Is freezing in tap water okay or would it be better to use tank water?
I was thinking the same, bc the water is not dechlorinated?

I never thought of storing them I'm an idiot! This is way easy ! Also how often should I feed them peas? I feed them once a week is that alright?

Best to alternate - it's all for digestive health.
Thanks luke, now my goldfish is no longer having swim bladder
I just watch One Piece while deshelling my peas for my fish.

This is actually how I do it. I mix garlic in with the peas also.

Thank the gold fish love this
Hi luke, can I feed my fishes canned peas?
It’s best to get frozen organic peas, I believe canned peas have loads of chemical additives to enhance taste
I poke the pea with a pocket knife tip and they pop right out when you squeeze.
Would it be ok if i froze them but the peas were inside the ice so i microwaved them and froze them again can i still feed them?
Do u have to give your goldfish peas? And what if u do all this work, and they don’t eat them?
De shelled peas, once in a while is definitely good for gold fish.. and they will eat them.. not too much though.
Why did you use tap water
Why do you freeze bloodworms and feed it to your fish?

I have small ones and it’s fine to give peas when they are young too:)
You acne crush them first if their mouths are still too small
I jus microwaved a frozen pea for 30 second removed the shell and gave it to my chrimp and my greedy Amano stole it from everyone. Its hilarious how greedy they are carrying a big pea.
