Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom would be high on my list. I received it for Christmas and put in a number of hours, giving it every opportunity to be fun. I did make some progress but ultimately it was a bad game. It was always rough to not complain too much in those cases, knowing a loved one had spent their hard earned money so I could enjoy something new.

The only one I had of those in the 90s was Mario is Missing.
Due to a problem, we had to sell my SNES and I was eager for a Super Mario World on NES, and the first thing I had was Mario is Missing.
Although it took me a month to understand it a little, I enjoyed it because I liked Carmen Sandiego.
But as you say, John, someone in Asia, already in the 90s made a downgraded Super Mario World for NES and when I had it in those years I was a very happy child, although the quality was not optimal, but if Nintendo had made it real, omg.

Seanbaby nonwithstanding, Deadly Towers is actually pretty big and fun if you can get over the total bullshit start. Once you learn where a couple of things are, you can power up pretty quick. I remember dying at the beginning a million times, then figuring that out, and beating the entire rest of the game in one go. Is it a great game? Nope. But it's better than it's rep indicates.

Not even close to the same thing. Souls games are tough and overwhelming at times, but always polished and fair. I used to have your opinion, but finally gave one a fair shot and it "clicked" for me. Now I wouldn't even consider them particularly hard. It does take patience, though, which I think is the thing some games don't like. But it's patience for learning and leveling, not patience for dealing with BS like Jekyll & Hyde.

The games in the HAL/Atari collaboration are generally lacking, like the programmers didn't understand them or care. It's abundantly clear that whoever did NES Joust wasn't passionate about the game. Same goes for Defender II, which is missing so much from the arcade game that it barely qualifies as a port.

Two problems with Deadly Towers, which i played a lot of back in the day.
#1. Balancing. As said in the video, you start off very weak...or the monsters are too strong.
    2. Enemies are right on top of you when you enter a new screen.
If not for those two problems, this game would be great.
The controls are not that bad.

Addendum - Apparently, the helper chip needed to run the game on the Nes wasn't available. However, it was finished in time for the Japanese and PAL release. The game also features a ROM twice the size than it previously had. It runs at a good frame rate, making it not just playable... but a blast.

I think that last game is better than Where's Waldo?

To be fair, Dragon's Lair in the arcade has awful controls too. I'd rather just watch it for the animation. I've never even bothered trying to play the NES version for more than 2 minutes.

Deadly towers is a great game, it’s just not easy. Many a days I spent mapping the dungeons with my friends.

I bought the X-Men NES game thinking it was a port of the arcade game
    Imagine my disappointment

If you are into character build play Final fantasy. Yes it has a couple of problems but if you are looking for no problem games your best bet is contra or gradius, maybe life force.i dont think dragon warrior had any problems but i always preferred FF for RPG. And I always preferred the problematic Dragon Warrior 2 over both because problem were sometimes challenges that if overcomes then the rest of the game was great.

Ageed with the dragon's lair, never played it, compared to the real arcade game, or even the Sega CD version, it looks aweful, and didnt it also come out for the SNES at one point?

I wouldn’t say Deadly Towers is a good game, but average at worst. There are way worse games. Have you played Beetlejuice?

Isn't the Japanese Famicom release of Dr. Jekyll better received? I feel like I've heard that's the version to play.

Home Alone was the worst NES game by far. It didn’t take very long for me to take it back the same day I rented it. Less than an hour if memory serves me correctly. I was furious someone would even attempt to make or release a game that terrible.
Other terrible games I played were Bart vs the Space Mutants, Bill & Ted, Back to the Future, Festers Quest, Mickey Mousecapade,
Muppets Chaos at the Carnaval, Magic Johnson’s Fast Break, and Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers (yes I said it, unpopular opinion terrible mechanics, terrible game)
Most of these games surpass the games shown in the video as being worse or are equally terrible.
Still Home Alone is not only the worst NES game but has to be the worst game ever created period! I was embarrassed I even considered renting that piece of trash and never had returned a game in less than an hour no matter how bad it was. It’s so terrible I still have nightmares about it. There is no excuse for the existence of that piece of crap.

Try Action 52. I never personally played that game but from the reviews I've seen of it (AVGN, Pat the NES Punk), that game is shite!
