- First we demonstrate the HD610 TTL exposure using a Canon 1DX, a Jinbei HD610 TTL flash, and a Jinbei TR611C TTL trigger.
Next we demonstrate the trigger strength with a distance and interference torture test, shooting across the busy Melbourne Intersection of Flinders Street and Swanston Street amidst the trams with a 500mm lens.
Next we demonstrate the fast 1/19000s flash duration with two HD610's in freeze mode.
Finally we test the flash refresh rate, shooting at 12 frames per second on the 1DX.

Love that range shooting across the intersection :)
Yes .. i bought one and i bought extra battery .. great light .. and i didn't use the extra battery at all .. i used it on Yarra river in Melbourne with my Nikon D4
and its amazing
I had a small family portrait session last evening where I moved away from speedlites since they make a lot of shadows!
I used some cheap 160watts studio flashes and I better move up to this kind of setup since its rock in daylight too!
Im thinking to buy the second one .. key light and shadow
Your new photographer has his act together. This demo, quite convincing. Not the kit but the fellow behind the kit. Cheers.
Jason is a trained and qualified photographer and hence he was knowledgable in demonstrating the features of this new flash. His skill enabled the features to be demonstrated fully.
I just got the orlit 601 for $319 with trigger should i upgrade to this one ?
That depends whether you want the TTL functions of the HD610 or not.
Nice. Is the LED-Light dimmable? Love my HD600, but looking forward to get this new 610
Just tested. Yes, it is dimmable!
You would love your HD 610 when you have sawn the differences between the HD 600 and the HD 610. :-)
Massive reflector you have there.
Is there an option to run this strobe directly from a wall socket in the studio?
@Michael Jinbei are about to release a battery AC adaptor for the HD610 so you can do just that. Scheduled for release in August.
Awesome, that's exactly what I wanted to know :D I was looking at the Godox for a Birthday present in November. I think you guys changed my mind :)
Hi Jason can please tell me tje kind of reflector you are using with this HD610? also where to buy it please?
Hi Palacios, Jason is using the Jinbei 45 long focus reflector, available from us at www.protog.com.au/buy/jinbei-45-degree-long-focus-reflector-with-bowens/JB45R
nice video, thanks for sharing it. This chamber to change de cloths, where do I can find it? please!
Lito Revollo The changing room tent I used for this video is from a local camping shop. They are generally designed to use a camping toilet in. They fold up similarly to a reflector and pack down to about 80-90cm across and 5cm thick.
Did you use an ND filter on your lens for the backlight scenes on the bridge?, regards.
.
No ND filters used or needed Freddy.
I just received my unit the other day. However, mine is rebranded as Orlit Rovelight RT610 - a U.S. version. Spec-wise and build, they're the same. The only difference is that it has Canon's RT built into it, which is HUGE plus for me!! Anyway, the only thing I can't seem to get working correctly is the Freeze Mode. I put it in Freeze Mode from the back of the unit, take a shot, and it immediately goes back to Normal. I'm wondering if this mode only works with the Jinbei/Orlit transmitter. Am I doing something wrong?
Since the Canon Speedlight doesn't have a freeze mode, I'd say it can't transmit freeze mode to the HD610, and you need a Jinbei trigger.
Ah ok... makes sense. I kind of figured that's what it was. So perhaps the only way to use Freeze mode without the Jinbei/Orlit trigger is to use the supplied PC sync cable.
Yes, a sync cable will work. I'd rather use a trigger and avoid having cables though.
Great video! Great ideas! 💪
are they compatible with Pentax cameras
What is flash duration on 1/4 and 1/8 of a second. Can water be completely frozen?
Hi Alexander, the shutter speed of 1/4 or 1/8 second will not have a fixed flash power level. To get correct exposure at 1/4 or 1/8 second, the flash power will be depending on other factors. The flash power level is what determines the flash duration. At 1/8 power the flash duration in freeze mode is still very fast and you will be able to freeze water mid-air as shown in our video at 6:55.
To get the fast recycle time (12fps), do you pretty much compromise underexposing the background? Even at night?
To keep up with the camera speed, the HD610 will disable TTL and HSS, and set a manual power output that allows the flash to fire at the same frame rate as the camera.
Is the strobe & trigger compatible with Canon 7D ii ?
Yes, they are both compatible with the 7D II.
PROtog ok, thanks!
100-120 m !!!!!!....Great video...i like !!!
Yes
I'll trial it for fun and do a video.. @markjesser on Instagram or Jesser.com.au
i used to wonder why the trriger impheize it can remote control the flash form 100 meter , today was really open my eyes.hahhhhhh~
