My oldest brother had the Tundra Stalker. I had no idea Stalker was such an important character. I just liked that I could play with him and his boat in the ditches when it rained.
this was the first version of stalker i owned. loved the accessories, i ignored the tundra specialty since i lived in Texas where we had no tundra, i used him as just a regular ranger.
I remember buying this figure at K-Mart in the late 80's. I was blown away by the inclusion of the kayak. It wasn't until I got home and read the file card that I realized that this was Stalker, a favorite from the comics. This figure felt like a complete playset in a single figure package, and I loved him. While I'm generally a "classic" vintage Joe fan, I always loved this figure.
Also, I think the red and yellow things on his jacket are ketchup and mustard packets. You aren't going to find that stuff in the tundra. You have to bring it with you!
You still nailed it! 😁 I hate my young self for passing over this incredible version of Stalker, partly because i didn't know what tundra was back then 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
This was my Stalker. I lived in a town in Alabama where the only places to get GI Joe stuff was Wal-Mart or a store called Roses, and neither of them had figures from the first couple years of GI Joe.
Welcome back! Love this version of Stalker. I remember as a kid really thinking/wanting them to start doing different environment versions of characters. I wanted a "Tundra Snake-Eyes" and "Tundra Scarlet." I wanted "Jungle Storm-Shadow," etc. etc. One little thing--if memory serves the "radio" on the counterweight is a tiny copy of Mainframe's backpack.
2:53 I always wondered whether more of the figures in the line for 1989 were meant to be updates of previous characters. As a mortar soldier, Downtown could have easily been an update for Short-Fuze, Backblast could have been a new version of Zap and Dogfight could have been a new version of Wild Bill. Considering they already had Rock & Roll, Stalker, Snake Eyes and Deep Six, I wonder whether Hasbro felt that releasing another 3 figures as updates of classic characters in 1989 would have been too much. 🤷🏾♂
Always felt the same way, that Downtown could've/should've been a new Short Fuze and Backblast a new Zap. l never thought of Dogfight and Wild Bill, but you're totally right.
Oh man I remember seeing this in the store as a kid an being blown away by the fact they gave him an entire Kayak. I regret not getting it. I doubt we'll ever get something like that in a normal basic figure price ever again. And yes, I do like when some the most classic Joes get different outfits for different climates or missions. I also remember Navy Seal Shipwreck. The bio made me laugh.
Awesome to have a new review man. Welcome back! I love Stalker and this version is a great one. The heavy machine gun was super cool. Lots of paint on this figure. I agree with you. Instead of a new GI Joe for every new figure, it would have been cool to have more alternative environment outfits for main characters. The sunbow cartoon did it fairly often. Putting different characters in winter coats or wet suits.
Glad to see a new review! Always liked the V2 stalker. Though V1 is closer to my heart, V2 is awesome. By the way, you had the counterbalance on upside down on the boat. The fins go down into the water.
Great to see you're back ha ha. I commented on the Patreon video but I'm going to comment again. I had this figure as a kid and since I went through and got all the arctic-themed Joes as an adult, I had to get this one. I really like this version. The accessories are great and I peg the kayak on the Arctic Blast of course ha ha. I can't wait to see more review videos. Maybe one of these Tuesday nights i'll catch the live stream.
Good to see you still make the best GI Joe videos. I had this version of Stalker, along with version 1. The mask was such an unusual accessory. Once you put it on you immediately took it off. Maybe someone at Hasbro thought his name IS STALKER, he should look LIKE one. Now, seeing how often masks are used in COD and other military themed video games maybe Hasbro was ahead of the times. Or... Stalker is from the future. Either way, great review, great choice and welcome back! Oh, and great artwork for the thumbnail!
Great to have you back thanks for the fun review. I missed seeing your videos pop up in my feed. RUclips is for sure a better place with you in it making content.
hey, nice to see a review again.....and one on a figure i had as a kid ( still have him minus the accessories ...he had alot of play time in that 30 plus years ) my personal favorite has always been rock n roll version 2 which i cant wait to see a review of ....89 was a great year for gi joe
Glad to see a new video from you. Hope your personal life is going better lately! A bit weird for the kayak to not float well for you, as a online video that introduced me to Stalker v2 I saw a while back showed the kayak floating properly, in a lake no less. I guess you need to be lucky with that kayak.
Commander! What a wonderful surprise. Im so happy your back. Amazing review. You made my Sunday. More reviews please. Welcome back Commander! Yo Joe!!!
I mean, Gung-Ho going shirtless in the arctic was probably Gung-Ho being Gung-Ho. I like the Stalker's figure - I did not have this one, but my friend had it and we played together. It was one of the first figures that was avaiable in Poland (maybe 88 line was sold for a short time), so I had to figure out why Stalker looks different in comics that were also published (but they did not publish the comics that were in US at the time - they started in the ear 90s with Ripcord story). I had the talking commander Stalker figure.
That was a pretty good review, you haven’t lost any of your timing, humor or moves. The only real problem I saw was the Patriots’ symbol in the background. 🤨
Larry may have been getting too stressed by that time having to deal with so many new toys every year to bother writing a tundra adventure for stalker. In earlier issues he was pretty good about giving new toys appropriate stories.
I have a lot of fond memories of this figure. Yeah, the V1 will always be the iconic look, but this one was still pretty cool. I also like seeing characters in different looks for different environments.
Looks like the float arm is cracked on outboard side. The float shouldn’t swivel freely while handling it. It looks like the float fell off when you put it in the water.
Great episode. Welcome back. Literally.
Well, you're back... literally. Does this mean you got our back, or we got yours? Lol 😆 🤣 😂.
My oldest brother had the Tundra Stalker. I had no idea Stalker was such an important character. I just liked that I could play with him and his boat in the ditches when it rained.
Tundra Stalker was great. it was a deluxe figure priced as a basic figure. The mold, colors and accessories were all well done.
Top 5 figure of the line, and far superior to the first Stalker.
Totally agree. I hated the original Stalker’s design but loved this one.
@@cowpuddles4851 Absolutely. THIS is his iconic look to me.
Man, between the extra paint apps on V.1 and the accessories on v.2, somebody at Hasbro showed him some love.
Damn, super happy to see you're doing the vintage reviews again!!!
this was the first version of stalker i owned. loved the accessories, i ignored the tundra specialty since i lived in Texas where we had no tundra, i used him as just a regular ranger.
The best version.

10 seconds in, sees HCC facing the wrong way, hits the like button
Love Stalker v2! Glad you are back to the ARAH line reviews
This version was a top 10 joe for me! Growing up in New England snow themed figures definitely had a special place on are joe teams 🎉
The humor is what I enjoy best & have missed most next to the inner child playing with G.I. Joe's! Where's the channel memberships? 😃😉
Glad to see your back. Yes I meant to spell your instead of you're.
Thanks for getting back to reviews 👍👍👍
Good to see you back doing what you do best. ♥️♥️♥️
This is one of my favourite Joe's of all time
This was my Stalker. I lived in a town in Alabama where the only places to get GI Joe stuff was Wal-Mart or a store called Roses, and neither of them had figures from the first couple years of GI Joe.
Good on you for committing to the opening joke for so long. I think this guy is just about perfect. Thanks for the content.
Top five figure, for sure.
Awesome surprise! I have missed your videos! Thanks for a new video. Stalker was one of my first Gi Joe's.
Welcome back HCC! You haven’t missed a beat! You still got it! 👍
Welcome back!

Don't forget Freefall was just new Ripcord.
@@mikeisernie I think Freefall came out in the 1990 wave, but yeah, he was essentially the new Ripcord.
I always wondered that about several late 80s figures
Oh man I remember seeing this in the store as a kid an being blown away by the fact they gave him an entire Kayak. I regret not getting it. I doubt we'll ever get something like that in a normal basic figure price ever again.

Loved stalker. He was my favorite to pick on GI Joe for C64
Hoodie's back! ...and Hoodie's back!

Oh man I’m so glad you uploaded! We missed you man!
That’s a great figure to kick off your return!
Awesome. I have been watching your backlog of videos. Glad you’re back. Though for me you were never gone. Excellent work. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This was probably the figure with the best accessories ever
You won't get an argument from me. Top 5 figure of the entire line.
Glad to see a new review! Always liked the V2 stalker. Though V1 is closer to my heart, V2 is awesome. By the way, you had the counterbalance on upside down on the boat. The fins go down into the water.
One of favs. And the first Stalker figure I bought.
Stalker is my favorite character as well.
Glad you are back.
Hooray! Hoodie is back reviewing! And it's a Stalker review. Here's hoping for great things.

It's far and away the best version of Stalker.
Great figure. Big fan of Stalker.
I think that's great idea.. "Hooded" CC face should've always been a mystery lol.. Thanks for the upload HCC!

YOU CAME BACK STRONG! finally the one with the boat!
Stalker is great but no way am I following him over a West Pointer like Hawk. Great review! Welcome back…….back
Awesome retrospect, I missed him just givin life as a teen by then. For classifieds, that would be like what $100????!!!! Lol
Another classic video. Well done. I do like how you stick to a bit and don't break it.
Great to have you back thanks for the fun review. I missed seeing your videos pop up in my feed. RUclips is for sure a better place with you in it making content.
Thank you! No disrespect, but your review videos are the main reason I love your channel! Thank you so much!
Great to have you back doing reviews!
Great video!! Welcome back...wards. 🙃
Nice to see you back.
Nice to have you back, HCC788! If I was buying G.I. Joe in 1989, this would have stood out as a great value.

Welcome BACK lol. I think I owned that Stalker. It was one of my favorites ☺️
Glad to see you back on your mission Hoodie! Great review for a great character! YoJoe!

I've been checking every couple of weeks to make sure I haven't just missed your posts.
Welcome back HHC, hope that you can do that 6” Dr. Mindbender. Can’t wait to see what you do next. 👍
Glad to see a new video from you. Hope your personal life is going better lately!

THE LEGEND IS BACK🤘🤘
Welcome back Hoodie!
I owned this one when I was a kid.
Welcome back, great way to start a day with a new video. Thanks
Welcome back Hoodie!!!!
Welcome back, HCC.
Welcome back commander! HAIL COBRA!✊😁
Sweet fancy Moses! A new review! Now just get Dr. Rick to have you face the right way!
Great review, great figure, great bit!
So glad to see you back reviewing vintage G.I.joes!!
This is definitely one best later figures. One thing I noticed when you showed the kayak,it looks like there are sculpted swim fins.
Commander?! Over here!
Me, looking at the shelves: one of these things is not like the other!
Hoodie is into gunpla!
Commander! What a wonderful surprise. Im so happy your back. Amazing review. You made my Sunday. More reviews please. Welcome back Commander! Yo Joe!!!
Literally, a behind-the-scenes video. 🤣
Welcome back,Hcc!
welcome back Commander....back...ha....get it?
Yay.... happy days are here again
Missed your reviews, dude!
You should do a top ten list of v2 figures.
I mean, Gung-Ho going shirtless in the arctic was probably Gung-Ho being Gung-Ho.

This version is better than the first, but I want both.
Larry may have been getting too stressed by that time having to deal with so many new toys every year to bother writing a tundra adventure for stalker. In earlier issues he was pretty good about giving new toys appropriate stories.
We are back in business, Live Long to HCC 788
Excellent review!!
There is a version that comes with the Bumblebee buggy Transformers/GI Joe crossover. You can also get Baroness with a Megatron Hiss tank...
If you do the next opening like this one, you could make back to back videos.
I’m so exited for the new vids keep it up hcc788
I wonder if the "red things" on his coat are supposed to be flares?
Forgot how to watch these.
I have a lot of fond memories of this figure. Yeah, the V1 will always be the iconic look, but this one was still pretty cool. I also like seeing characters in different looks for different environments.
This figure is superior in every way. "Iconic" look or not.
Welcome Back HCC788. Are you talking to Allister?
if you flip the backpack/pontoon over and place the kayak in the water with out it dropping out, it'll float
Looks like the float arm is cracked on outboard side. The float shouldn’t swivel freely while handling it. It looks like the float fell off when you put it in the water.
I probably bought 3 or 4 Tundras in my youth. I kept loosing the pieces. 🤷😆
Finally
3:45 'Long Term Reconnaissance Patrol' - L.T.R.P.? More teething problems as you get back into the swing of reviews? :)
3:44 looks like stalker got a little chilly and started shivering. Bad show for a tundra guy.
