If you find you only have ten minutes left to write a LEQ for APUSH, AP World, or AP Euro, then you can still earn a few points if you know exactly what to do...
I felt this! I thought when I was taking the APUSH exam last May that the proctors would tell us when to start the LEQ (since the DBQ was right before it)- but they didn't! I ended up only having like 20 minutes maybe to write the LEQ and I was terrified. 20 minutes is a lot better than 10, I got it done, and I somehow got a 5 on the exam (thanks to Heimler)! Good luck to everyone taking it this year! Study hard and you will do great.
Do you have any resources?
This is probably a basic question but like I have the exam this Friday and I always been wondering what happens if you get a prompt and you just go blank on it and can’t really think of examples or like organizations or like the prompt is just so broad? that you just can’t think of anything..
@@whoasked6696 i think heimler has vids about that
@@whoasked6696 Know basic stuff from each time period. If you draw a blank, look at the time period, recognize certain events that may have been occurring, and build off of what you know. If I say 1800s, you should think westward expansion, industrialism, civil war, etc. Build off of that!
I definitely felt like I didn't know a everything but I was able to draw connections and I knew what was happening. Just know a lot of stuff. Know a lot of movements, events, treaties, wars, presidents, etc. One thing that helped me was sitting down and making a timeline of major events (it became like 3-4 pages but only took me a day). GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! If you have any other questions please do ask. I may not remember things very well anymore but I have general stuff that worked for me in terms of studying.
@@hutchxc9188 the timeline is a good idea &thank you for responding!! I’m taking it tomorrow so I’m studying all night as much as I can lol. But I do wonder for the LEQ.. do u need like 3 reasons for the thesis? And then 3 body graphs and all that? Because that’s what I’ve been taught in AP Lang about writing in general but my APUSH teacher hasn’t spoken about and I still get good grades on my class LEQ.. so I’m unsure on what is an appropriate and time-saving structure for the LEQ..
Also is there any Heimler videos you recommend or anyone elses? Thank you!!
Heimler gives me a little bit more confidence each and every day. I'm aiming for a 4 in May but I'd be more than happy with a 3 at this point 😅
Well, whatever happens, I’m rooting for you!
@@heimlershistory Hey, thanks Heimler! I really appreciate your encouragement! 🌟
Hey I’m on the same boat, let’s just try and hope for the best!!
Did you get your 4?
When I inevitably get a 5 on my AP Euro, you, Mr Heimler, will have my thanks--because I'm a self-study student.
you got this
I might have aced ap world 😅
@@AlboonS-zy7su I am manifesting a 5 for you as we speak
lmk what u get!
We did it. We got the 5.
Thank you so much Heimler I panicked for my LEQ and SAQs because my teacher never taught us how to do them so your lessons really helped me a lot on the APWH test today! We appreciate everything you do for students! 😍❤
APUSH has seriously been the ride of my life as a freshman. First semester I was stumbling, but then I ran across Heimler's content and helped me piece all the knowledge into coherency. The Ultimate Review packet helped me even more. Having just finished my examination I just wanted to say thank you ❤
Hey Heimler could we have a video on all the APUSH Presidents and one significant event for each?
Maybe try asking the Heimler ai bot if he doesn’t
This came along at the most perfect time! Currently practicing past AP world LEQs to get a gist for the types of prompts I may get. Your videos are solely generating all my evidence! 💗
This is great, as I struggle most with LEQs and for my mock exam I had about 24 minutes after my (half-finished) DBQ. Now I just have to teach myself to stop overthinking everything and just force myself to write what makes sense instead of the most perfect essay ever… yeah… wish me luck guys.
I‘m gonna take AP exam two weeks later, you're my life saver!!! I got full marks for my recent LEQ practice!!!! LOVE FROM CHINA😘
This is perfect my timed! I have an LEQ next class for APWH!! Thanks Heimler
same but for apush!! gl to us both 💕
DBQ tomorrow and LEQ Thursday. I’m getting a 4 on this exam and then I’m done with history forever.
@@gothamwarrior no bcuz apush rlly killed my love for history 😭
@@gothamwarriorthat was our schedule too! We’re already in unit 9
Im so happy RUclips recommended me this video an hour after I finished the AP world test. 💀
Omg thank goodness they give you out of 3 prompts to choose.. I was worried that I might get a prompt, a single prompt, and I will just go blank on it and the topic would be so broad (idk if they are) for me to understand unless I’m getting the whole AP exam thing wrong and I just don’t know how it works even though I have it this Friday lol
i wrote my LEQ last year in 10 min LOL but i still got everything i needed done my wrist hurt so bad after
I'm about to binge Heimler because the final APUSH exam is only in 10 days!!!
I have it this Friday 🥲
Watched this yesterday and had my so exam today. Sadly only got through the thesis and contextualization on my LEQ before running out of time so I’m hoping for a good score nonetheless. Thanks!
I always was taught that you put contextualization before your thesis. Is this not what you usually do, or is it just because of the time crunch?
Yeah, what you said is the typical order. But a lot of teachers tell their students to write thesis first, then contextualization. It doesn’t matter what order just as long as the thesis/context combo comes first.
last year i only watched heimler videos the night before the apush test to study, and i got a 5. now im back for world history, wish me luck
Love the background music :)
Just took my test today and decided to spend an 1 hour 25 on my dbq and literally had like less than 20 minutes for my leq but I did it 😂
Maybe it was just me but I felt like I wasted too much time on my DBQ and nearing my ending paragraph they said “10 minutes remaining” and I was like perfect! Then they instructed us to the next section and I felt like I had so much time by the end I wrote 4 paragraphs.. maybe it was me but this test felt so long 😂😭
@@whoasked6696 it went by super fast for me but they didn’t seperate the dbq and leq sections so I looked at the leq choices and thought they were easy so I didn’t think I needed as much time for them. My dbq was really long
Perfect backround music
The music to this is awesome
Im hoping one of my prompts is the industrial revolution because this brain can only remember cool technology
Watching this 3 days before the exam 🎉🎉🎉
THANK YOU HEIMLER
I have the opposite, and in my opinion, a unique issue. I rush through and write a somewhat underwhelming amount of words and I am left with 25 minutes and not much to do.
my ap world/euro teacher told us that if we are on a time crunch on the dbq, we only have to do 3 documents to get 5 out of 7 points LMAO
You should use 4 documents. That way, if you mess up one, you still get the evidence point
Bro I only did half of my leq 😭
i wrote like two scentences for each scentence of the leq (i chose a bad prompt and didnt remember anything from any of the prompts actually) and still got a 5 on the ap world exam last year anything's possible ( i spent the last 20 minutes blank and watching the girl beside me write her essay)
After taking stats today, I’m not in the headspace for APUSH, tule elk and Cleo’s gold necklace make me want to die. But this helped so much.
Wouldn't it be good to write a thesis for each? Just because you can restate the prompt and assert your opinion very quickly. Or would you not get the thesis point if it's too bare-bones?
This is so helpful. Also would you recommend starting with the DBQ or the LEQ when taking the exam? (as they are in the same section)
I was always told DBQ first which makes sense cuz DBQ is worth 25% and LEQ is only 15% so prioritizing
@@rebeccahowell9531 yes that makes sense! thanks!
I think it took me about 25 minutes for my leq (and i finished the dbq in the same amount of time). I was sort of sad I couldn't do all leq topics since they all seemed interesting, but nonetheless i finished with only 30 minutes left (test was ap world btw)
I am a little confused about the order of operations. What do you do in step 2? Is it in the intro paragraph? Does the evidence have to support/refute our argument?
im very confidenr that ill get a 5 on my apush exam thanks to heimler
This is so sad. I answered a question thinking I understood the question but I misread it so I had to do a different question with 15 minutes left. I wish this was posted sooner😔
I did that on the APUSH test last year. If it happens again, just keep going. Rewrite the question if you have time. If you misunderstood the question, chances are you'll have a tough time with the rewrite.
I spent so much time rewriting that I didn't answer an SAQ

ap exams soon 😬
In your point when does it make sense to memorise ?
i have a question, for the thesis of an leq, what is enough to make it into an "argument"? if its a "describe the extent to which" prompt, is just saying "something affected another thing by a great extent" enough? what about "something affected another thing positively/negatively"?
i have not studied at all i’m so terrified
Good luck, you!

Wait I thought that after 55 minutes you have to stop the mcq and start the saq and that after 60 minutes you had to stop the dbq and start the leq! Is that not the case?
You are given 1hr40min to write both the DBQ and LEQ (including the 15min DBQ reading period). How you choose to divide that time among the two essays is up to you.
@@emmeline.reinhardtOh okay thank you! I didn’t realize that.
Thank you good sir o7
if my friend's brain cows are already out of milk, can she replenish it with ice cream? if not please provide advice on what she can do. thanks heim heim!
Hi cole

I took my first practice test the other day, and I left myself only 35 minutes for the LEQ. Thats not a short amount of time, but its alot less then I wish I had. It was about the how global conflicts in the 20th century developed social and political change.
literally had to write an leq in 10 minutes today.
These videos scared me before my APUSH exam to the point where I had 12 extra minutes on the LEQ section.
We’ll see how it worked out when we get our scores 🏄
lmao Just took the AP World Exam and didnt think I'd need to do this, but I managed to squeeze out a page and a half in 20 mins, heres the formula if yall want it
Contextualization to set my thesis up
Thesis (Counterargument evidence 1 and 2, Argument)
Evidence 1
Evidence 2
Complexity Paragraph (using the thesis)
Restate thesis
Bro made this video as though I will be looking it up mid-exam and need to watch a short video, or else the 10 minutes that I have will quickly turn into two.
what do you mean by vocabulary? do I just write a word? for example, if the prompt is asking for the extent to which new technology helped migration in 1200~1450, do I just write "astrolabe, a device used to measure the altitude of the stars." for V and "this shows a new technological development that increased trade by sea etc." for E? is this enough to earn the point?
What happens if you don't get to contextualization but leave the gaps between the thesis and the main body paragraph- it said on the AP document we were to write the essay and "don't skip lines"?
Great, now I only have 7 minutes
How’s it go?.. 👀
bruh
