Tell me your favorite your favorite unbuilt building!!!
For me it's Sir Edwin Lutyen's design for Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, it would have had a vast dome higher than St Peter's in Rome. What was actually built was still unique but much smaller and more modern looking.
germania in berlin tbh is architecturally beautiful; burnham's chicago and manila or would also have been beautiful, canberra
Ugh. Soldier Field. Ironically like their QB situation, that renovation was always good in theory... and horrible on execution. The most impressive government building I've seen is Hoover Dam! Completed ahead of schedule and under budget. When does that ever happen?! Still helping power some of California, so it's ACTUALLY useful too-
love architectural content like this so much
One of Australia’s most iconic buildings? I’d probably say the opera house is our only iconic building 🤣
Tryin to give Australia the architectural benefit of the doubt haha
The Sidney Harbour Bridge is also fairly iconic. Though it is a bit overshadowed by the neighboring Sydney Opera House.
@@maneatingcheeze not really a building thou .. Sydney Tower is probably the 2nd most recognisable building of Australia .. Flinders st station and Parliament House are probably next but none of these buildings are that famous.
@@stussysinglet Bridges are buildings. Anything built by man that is not terrain modification, i.e. canals or levies, can be considered a building.
@@maneatingcheeze so I'm willing to agree there are different definitions and perceptions .. I would say bridges are generally not considered buildings instead they are structures... I did a quick search on the dictionary/ encyclopaedia definitions and no mention of them being labelled as buildings.
Host is so handsome he could have been a model.
Soldier Field is best described as a giant bedpan
Loved this video! You should check out some of Etienne-Louis Boullee's proposed buildings.....they're crazy!!!!
Hey I love your channel keep it up
Thanks, will do! Appreciate the support!
Could've mentioned the Palace of the Soviets
Will you do a deep dive on the Orginal Corn Palace of Iowa before it was torn down?
1 of the reasons why the white house 1 wasnt built was bc it looked more like a palace that a king would live in and considering we fought a revolution and became a republic instead a Monarchy would have made it seem crazy
trippy
The depiction of "cities of the future" used to be popular, but as Disney's "Tomorrowland" movie shows, society has become more pessimistic.
What do you think of the Appleseed's (anime and manga) Olympus cityscape? Specifically, the huge arched buildings covered in what appears to be solar panels.
Very interesting but good thing for this is that future will be decided by customers. RUclips analysis is not taken in consideration. When cities sees loses in this project thy will have cold feet. Unless they fall for PR. Everything is possible.
Thumbnail looks so damm much like a 40k hive city
That was my first thought as well. 😂
Daaaaa bbbbbbeeeeeeaaaaaarrrrrrs
whats one that was realistic
Interesting stuff but I think you could have made it more brief
American architecture seems so uninspired.
I just subbed in hopes you would come back! Hope you're good.
