Doug, My respect for you went up even more when you didn't say anything bad when that nail went in. I would have let it rip, lol. You are good people. I hope it doesn't give you any trouble.

Hi 👋 I dont throw my two cents in very often, because if I wait two minutes you have it figured out !!! My thought is to put a dummy window back in but replace the glass with mirrors, you wont have to redo that wall !!! Great build..Great Kids... 😊

Once I saw the damage it never crossed my mind that you wouldn't remove the ceiling. Ashley and Doug have high standards, they do not 'settle for less'. One of their many admirable traits. Maverick will soon have a special room to be proud of. Every bedroom will be uniquely awesome. I know your pride in the workmanship for your family is paramount. You are absolutely correct, in the long run tearing out the ceiling is the way to go. Years ago i did a beaded ceiling repair on a front porch that had a roof leak, after 20 to 25 hours of scrape and sanding into it i realized that no way was it going to look good. I should have gone with my gut and just demoed and installed new from the beginning! Took 3 hours to tear out and 12 hours to put back. In the end the difference in the material size was not noticable from the front porch to the side and back porches, the new wood was about 5/8 of an inch narrower than the original.

It won't match the rest of the home exactly, but could be an easier install and was once often used in older cottage style homes.
