These simple ideas will inform the rest of your practice, and you should include them in all of your learning after you have more tricks included! It will bring the ball into a larger range of motion than your simple hand-held tricks, and give you the room to dance!
    Dance magic dance!

    Excellent tutorial for a beginner just getting started! I was getting a little intimidated with all the videos saying the first thing to learn is the butterfly. I feel I could confidently start with this sequence while training for something more complex.

    I love that it is about a full interaction with the space and the body through the ball. So it's a full body awareness through very simple gestures yet mesmerising. thank you

    I'm just getting started, and have watched a few tutorials, but I have to say you're has been the most effective I've seen. Just within the few minutes I watched I've already gotten a lot smoother and things have come together recognizably. This was really good.

    I will join others in singing your praises! Your teaching style is lighthearted and accessible. And I love that you start with these moves that are about simply getting a feel for the ball in your hands, learning to balance and control the weight of it in different planes, etc.... before moving on to Butterfly, Enigma, etc. Thank You!

    I love the emphasis on using the space around you and sequencing! That way the art is incorporated as quickly as the technique.

    Awesome!!! I've watched a bunch of beginner's tutorials and they didn't speak to the really beginner's steps that I was looking for. I love this and how it starts with just familiarity with out ball! I wanted to say thank you and loving the light-hearted silliness of the video.

      We are 100% on board with this! Part of the difficulty for beginners now is there is less of a centralized base of information and support for beginners and SO MUCH information on RUclips that it’s overwhelming.
      We’re planning to get something up and running and we’ll post a video in the usual places once we have a better idea of times etc.

      @@ballcontact1041 Very well said. I had the same issue when I began training in Sleight-of-hand online. WAY too much information overload. Many beginners quit just because of that alone. Once I start something, I have to keep going. So I'm very careful with what I decide to commit to. But the moment I saw a masterful and beautiful performance of contact juggling, I said "This is too lovely not to learn!"

    I started doing traditional juggling a few months ago and just discovered contact juggling so I got a ball yesterday. It's so hard but you describe it phenomenally well. Looking forward to trying these (well maybe less forward to the circle shoulder thing... as a skateboarder my shoulders take a beating and don't like to move that way as much so that's going to take a while for me to learn). Anyway, yeah just wanted to say thanks. I dig your instruction and demonstrations. Can't wait to practice these techniques!

I would go for my Introduction to Illusion Style, on this channel to get an insight into that side of things and also jump straight into arm rolls. (before butterflies because it all helps) Over on DawnDreams there are a sequence of 5 or so lessons all dedicated to arm rolling which will get you well on your way. Can I ask what size and grams this ball is? I want to learn lots of hesd stuff but I want to start with a stage ball rather than acrylic and Im not sure which size and weight to get

    • @ballcontact1041
      @ballcontact1041  Год назад

      Definitely get a stage ball (practice ball like this) for starting on head rolls, as wise men once said you have to protect your neck. Stretch too.
      For size 100-130mm is recommended for rolling, 90mm is totally possible but will roll a bit faster. As for weight I tend to prefer a heavier 210g ball, but I do love the 185g radfactor stage balls too. If possible try different ones as they teach you different things.

    Is it breakable. This ball is made of which metal

    • @ballcontact1041
      @ballcontact1041  3 года назад +1

      Given enough determination and focus pretty much anything can eventually be considered breakable, but luckily this is a practice ball, often called a stage ball and they are made of very strong and resistant plastic.
      The ‘worst’ thing that can happen is if you leave something heavy on top of them and they end up a bit flat and egg shaped, but you have to really try for that and they’re really not that expensive in the overall scheme of juggling props.

    How difficult is contact ball juggling? Can someone put it into perspective for me before I buy one? Like, what's the learning curve compared to that of mastering an instrument, or doing Poi for example?

    • @ballcontact1041
      @ballcontact1041  6 лет назад +2

      More difficult than poi, depending on where you go. We are trying to make more accessible tutorials for beginners because one of our problems with the learning curve is out teaching methods haven't improved much & this could be fixed. I still encourage you to buy a stage ball! it's 15$ at most and you can try this tutorial! Or, try with an orange :D
