  • These spectres use Leap slam and that's it The End.
After leap slammin around couple of times, they enter this resting animation which last 4 sec and is a big dps loss. Not a fan of these guys.
    poedb.tw/us/Wo...
They come from T17 maps, i theory could be found in any map with Invasive Adversaries atlas node taken, but in previous patch 3.24. i did not found them using this method. Instead i got them while using new Cartography scarab of the Multitude which adds a random assortment of 8 - 12 packs of difficult monsters.

    Thanks for sharing.
Im looking for a good melee spectre or an alternative for defilers or frost bears, just not a fan of those, any tips? You could make a top 5 best melee spectres and top 5 best ranged spectres video

      Heya!
So, I have a list of really good melee spectres' that I've been putting together!
Velvet has done videos on most of the better melee I've found thusfar:
      -----------------
Karui Backburners : Gameplay Video available on Velvet's Channel. More detailed, modern gameplay available on my profile as well.
Innate AOE on all of their used attacks (they don't use their melee). It looks like their damage is bad, however; the only attacks they use are leap slams and the combo attacks. Their combo attacks are more modifier + more modifier; which means that, although the base damage is lower than that of many other spectres, their effective dps is really quite good. I found the best scaling was haste, Hatred, and EE (storm brand to trigger Cold/Fire Exposure). They have fantastic aggressiveness, to the point that I found Feeding Frenzy caused me alot of issues as they would leapslam too far away, and instead I was running Meat Shield. Bonus points if you're a fan of Mortal Kombat as they look a tonne like the MK1 Liu Kang - God of Time and Fire.
      Survivability: B+. Solid, not amazing.
Damage: A. Really good. Cleared all content I've thrown at it.
Appearance: A++. They're a shaggier version of MK1 Liu Kang. The Karui Kang!
Mechanical Feel: A+. They have innate AOE. They have innate aggression. You lose two of the biggest "minion taxes" melee spectre's run into. Next to no Melee Bodyblock either as they're small spectres.
      -----------------
Solaris Elites: (No gameplay findable. Super basic guys tho).
These guys are in a similar boat to the backburners. Their damage looks awful. However... they have an innate 100% of physical damage added as extra fire. They also have a nice innate Double Strike, which effectively doubles their DPS. Scale with Flat Phys as you get double the damage from it, convert/Added As extra fire/cold.
See above: Hatred, Dual Exposure through EE (Which you can get through skin of the lords or an EE scepter/Squire setup) or other methods, there's quite a few ways to achieve double exposure on a budget. Needs splash depending on budget (I've had success running them without at a mid budget Squire Setup.) New Wraithlord has been a godsend for these guys with the 4x extra Ghastly's for flat added phys. Each flat phys ghastly is a massive damage increase due to the 100% Added Fire.
Survivability: C-. You're gunna have to invest in methods of survivability for them (I recommend gem levels+minion life tattoos). They're better than hydra, have great innate armor and balanced resists. Low Life however.
Damage: A+. If built for, they're extremely extremely damaging. Consider them glass cannons.
Appearance: C+. These are kinda boring. they're just... Black Armored, fire sword knight guys. Not much good or bad about it.
Mechanical Feel: B. They pay all the standard melee spectre taxes, Splash if needed, FF for more aggressiveness can sometimes be needed depending on your build. However, their damage and clear due to said damage is just absolutely outstanding. They are, if given enough survivability, absolutely great bossers.
      -----------------
Grotesque Maw: (Can find gameplay on Velvet's channel).
A bit more specific. They have a wild, unlisted, "More Attack Speed" modifier. I think I saw estimations of 76% More Attack Speed or something massive to that effect. Their base damage is atrocious, their movement speed is high, their HP is negligable. With Added Flat Damage, Melee Splash (or Profane Bloom Explosions at top end), they clear amazingly well. Be prepared to invest into Minion Defenses (I recommend Gem level + Minion Life tattoos!). They can, and do, clear well, can fight rares/uniques. With Unnatural strength, every enemy will nearly instantly cap on their Withered Stacks due to the attack speed.
Survivability: F. Low armor. Low-Moderate Evasion. Meh Resistances (get lightning res instead of chaos res for some reason). They're 4%(!!!) ahead of Hydra as a melee spectre for max health. Heavy survivability investment required. Do not run "added as extra Chaos" maps ever.
Damage: A+. If built for, they're extremely extremely damaging. Think of them as permanent SRS minions as far as build mechanics go. Even better this league due to the Envy weapon enchant.
Appearance: N/A. I refuse to rank these guys. Reason: I've heard "awesome, ghostly flaming skulls!" and "Omg, they're giant sperm!" .VERY YMMV.
Mechanical Feel: B. They pay all the standard melee spectre taxes, Splash if needed, FF for more aggressiveness can sometimes be needed depending on your build. But they're extremely fast moving, extremely fast attacking, and are like a swarm of floating Pirannah's swarming and attacking everything. Their fragility can leave it a bit irritating at points; although I've run high investment, 8-mod corrupted t16s and not lost any. I've also had situations of losing them on white t14's. Very Random. Extremely small models, they have basically zero body block issues.
      -----------------
Forged Trio (Forged Warrior, Forged Piercer Demon, Forged Vendigo) : (Gameplay on Doominated's Channel)
I largely group these together as they're temporary options. They won't be available long term, and get a bit of extra spice due to that. Or maybe you'd prefer not to due to their temporariness. You can get em from Verisium Nodes. They all have Great damage, elemental conversions, and very solid survivability in common.
      -----------------
Forged Piercer Demon is based on Fidelitas from Act 2. He's a 4 legged scorpion dude. He does a really heavy hitting melee attack, and can spit out a "spark" mechanic, which is really just it shooting out some fiery bolts that leave Burning Ground. Also does a heavy Phys->Fire melee attack.
Pros: Extremely high damage for a melee spectre. Cool Model. Solid aggressiveness. Good attack range. Can use Elemental Focus as a top support.
Cons: Really big model. Problematic in environments with choke points (Tunnel style maps), Stairs, or against small, but durable targets. Slow innate speed. Worst Elemental status.
      -----------------
Forged Warrior looks and moves like the dead zombie templar guards from Act 1, the Western Forest. They have 2 main attacks: a whirlpool summoning ability akin to Crushclaw, and a solidly hitting Phys -> Cold melee attack. Maybe one of the higher damage potential options of the three despite the lowest innate numbers.
Pros: High damage potential, great coverage. Small Model, less issues with overlap.
Cons: They're boring as hell looks wise. Weaker computers will struggle with the Whirlpool spam. Slow.
      -----------------
Forged Vendigo is an interesting option. He has innate flickerstrike, a heavy phys->Lightning Conversion. Moderate speed, they aren't quite slow, but not fast either. Their models are a medium-large. As a lightning spectre, they work in Doryani builds, but I heard they can be potentially annoying to get feeling good.
Pros: Amazing Damage potential if maximized. Innate Mobility skill.
Cons: Slower without flicker. Bigger model.
Sorry if its too much information or detail. Wanted to be thorough. :)

@@stormblind1654 amazing info! You should add this to a compendium guide to non meta spectres. Thanks for sharing. Ige already tested karui backburners and they are some of the coolest spectres ive ever seen.
Velvet and domnic already post some gameplay of them and ive fallen in love. At the time ive change all my build to fit them But somewhat i couldn’t scale their damage well, maybe need more love.
Thanks again for all the info.

Their 4 secs downtime is not so bad. It is 4 sec cast speed, and it seems to scale with minion cast speed. Which is not a bigdeal since almost all minion mods both have attack/cast speed together. The speed of their leap is also not scaled by movement speed but by attack speed. So these guys dont need any flat damage; they already do tons of base damage, rather they need more of attack/cast speed to feel smooth. They are best when done crit based (phys or elemental is fine; but poison minions are just better this league)

Just like needle horrors. They are perfect in toxic sewer kind of maps.

They are actually good when scaled properly. Every minion have their different needs to feel good. But as minion builds' state, need lots of investment. I did a squire impale version of this last league and they were amazing

Instead of conc area. Use pulverize support and awake aoe. Both would scale damage and aoe clear
