    Hey guys! Today HPA Motorsports has given us the opportunity to drive+film their widebody Audi TT FTX700 VR6 Turbo. Without fail, HPA has delivered top-notch insanity to the streets of Canada and around the world for the most daring German car enthusiasts that exist. This Audi TT VR6 turbo is the latest in HPA's arsenal and delivers a balance of power, durability, and quality that not many builds are ever able to achieve, not without an entire team and years of development. At HPA, they run all their cars through brutal durability testing on a "rolling road simulator," which puts vehicles throuvaryinging conditions and temperatures. The horsepower readings from their dyno are reported at the crank, as to put up a good comparison with stock numbers that the OEM reports. Therefore, the 705HP and 790lb/ft of torque are calibrated at the crank to take advantage of that comparison, although placing this vehicle on a standard (higher reading) DynoJet or DynoPak dyno would produce more or less the same number at the wheels. Just to clarify! Hope you guys enjoy the video, we had a lot of fun filming at HPA and won't hesitate to bring you guys the next crazy build these guys whip up. - Marcus

    I had a tuned but otherwise stock 2008 Audi TT 3.2 with the 6 speed manual and it still is my favorite AWD car I've ever owned. Traded it in for a 2020 WRX (which was a massive pile of shit in comparison) when it had 180k miles on it after it finally got some weird bottom end engine issues. I miss that car so much...

    • @anhiirr
      @anhiirr 6 месяцев назад

      id drive my friends boosted 350zs or q35s and think about how much more refinement those cars needed and investment compared to the TT 3.2 Having a turboed vr6 MK4 was like a dogfight that only got easier to handle/put the power down with if you were willing to invest more into suspension/mounts and had me thinking about forged axles etc...just too much for what seemed like a modest start. I always wanted a 3.2TT after that though. Its definitely on the list of future buys/second cars up there with a 944 turbo or 12a ported FB. Every time i start doing a budget for something modded....the price starts jumping even on n54 1 series cars i see for sale. It pushes me towards trying to find a good condition TT instead. Just better value IMO than having to find a custom shop to build/tune a ported 12a run/buy a standalone/fuel system/wiring etc. Vs being genuinely happy with a stock/tuned VR6 TT. Even an N54 wouldnt have been heavily modified....but IMO custom lines, and a quality fuel ap and cooling system comes to me as ideal. NO different than if i were going to get a base 2023 Wrx to modifiy considering its gearing...id still go hard line BBK and even/most likely an ecu/management system compared to factory. THOUGH talking new cars the only ones on my radar are the GTI 380, corolla w/trd dif...or those mods w/wrx, or a gr86 w/ headers that could eventually be paired with a bolt on SC. Either way something that if lacking power/cornering speed benchmarks id expect....id want interior/qualities that the GTI offers vs the WRX...but the gearing and range of fun a tuned new WRX can offer with a BBK also offers a lot for the $$$ these days compared to whats out there brand new.

    This question is to the Admin of this channel or the HPA Company:
    Does HPA provide these kits for 2010 MK2 Audi TTS ( I-4 Turbo Engine) or only for VR6 TT?
    I hope they have a way to improve the HP on the TTS and not just the VR6 TT. APR stopped that already.
    Also, how much does this project cost to reach up to 700 HP? Any Ballpark number out there? Currently have only APR Stage I ECU Tuning on the TTS and making over 310 HP and probably 280 BHP.
    Let me know . Thanks

      It's not too difficult to turbocharge the 3.6L. The real problem with those cars is that they're (assuming you're in the US) all equipped with automatic slushboxes that don't take power increases well.

    • @maveric0738
      @maveric0738 5 лет назад +1

      Charles Strosnider agreed. The transmission is the weak link. But if you’re going for a mild turbo upgrade..it should suffice.

    • @cstrosnider
      @cstrosnider 5 лет назад +2

      @@maveric0738 The problem is that most mild turbocharger upgrades only marginally improve performance and the investment is not worth it at all. A K04 on the 2.0T TSI version of the same car will make the same if not more HP and definitely more torque for a lot less money. To make the cost of turbocharging a 3.6L even remotely worth it, you will need to be pushing over 500 WHP (for a proper power output increase you should be aiming at 600 WHP). Once again, I'm all for turbocharging a 3.6L, but only if it makes sense to do so. For reference, the shop I work for (www.ngpracing.com) does these sorts of upgrades on a regular basis. I'm also the main dyno technician and calibrator.

  • @anhiirr
    @anhiirr 6 месяцев назад

    Everytime i think about wasting $$$ on a vq/platform z...i remember my turbo vr6 GTI and figure a turbo vr6 with quattro or a TT is just so much better of an option stock....then come back to this specimen. On the right winding roads you could live off limited gear changes and just wind this thing up and down to your hearts content and play with the rotational coefficient mid corner/exit all day too. Those power figures and rev range are all you could want with a platform like this. Even with a mid 300 hp GTI i knew this engine/platform had so much more to offer than a heavy front suspension/balance tune biased GTI. That you would have to heavily tune to handle on corner entry/brake/jab/body-roll swings....and if you were on throttle would be a battle for proper patch/contact with your inside corner/front wheel to get the power down. Either way the amount of investment to get one fast in the corners quickly had you considering quattro or something like the TT. I cant think of a better setup for a high power single turbo VR6 than something like this. OFC someone like HPA knows what parts/tunes to use engine up to properly utilize the boost/range of that mid range and peak power. The numbers really dont matter as much to me, even with a smaller turbo if they could build an engine/compression base point to ennact a torque peak/curve into peak power like that its going to no doubt be a fun/easier car to drive and high on the enjoyment factor ceiling Being so built out the power figures are more substantial to the cost/investment to the block/forged internals and overall headroom/tapping into the potential of being able to run a larger turbo and boost friendly tune. Its what makes this build so appealing number figures/cost aside. Its something to consider if you live in the US or somewhere Like california if youre actually thinking of getting/importing something JDM...cost wise building something like this all the sudden becomes an option or buying a used porsche XD. Nothing quite like a built VR6 and that highly sought after level of streetable POWER.

(I still assume that their vr6 tune quality is poor too according to what I experienced) I tuned my car(T2.0) remotely during summer with HPA and ended up with other tuner. Jolting DSG and lack of power and poor power band. They keep saying every complaint is due to my car condition although my car it almost top condition. They seem really kind and well responsive but, that is all about this company. I never buy any products especially ECU and TCU tune from them forever.
