I've got major respect for the officer putting her own life at risk, going out into a lake without knowing how to swim. What I am puzzled by, is how you even become an officer to begin with without knowing how to swim.
From google- Swimming is not a universal requirement to be a police officer in the US. It doesn't help with performing the essential job duties. Even our military doesn't have a universal swimming requirement because it is the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines most likely to need such skills, not all Air Force or Army.Aug 14, 2017

@@cushiontwin When it comes to life or death scenarios, most people wouldnt think twice before running away from immediate death. Put yourself on their shoes.
Yeah. Its way better than being dead, but at the same time dude would still have his legs if she had hit the gym more. IDK how you can pass police standards if you can't drag an old man 2 flipping feet.
Can't believe how some bad cops can wear their badges, knowing people like the ones in this video wear and wore it too. True heroes! Nobody would ask to defund the police if cops were all like those inspirational role models here.
As a former EMT, it's disturbing how quick a tourniquet is deployed. I was taught these are only for uncontrolled arterial bleeding, no other injuries. In most cases a pressure dressing will do the job, without the risk of tissue damage that tourniquets can bring. Still, much respect for the officer that covered the suspect AND tended to wounded bystanders!
Training has changed. I was taught the same way back in the 90’s but studies have found that tourniquets do way more good than harm as long as it’s not left on for hours and hours.
@@emsguy486 Thanks for bringing me up to speed! My training was, in fact, back in '87. I lasted for a year then switched to something more "stable". Those big ups and downs and replaying what you could gave done differently on calls, didn't suit me. I also looked like a cop so the drunks wanted to fight, lol. Ah, the "good old days"!
We learn in TEMS and TCCC to deploy a tourniquet on a GSW in any volatile situation because it’s far faster than prepping and applying a pressure dressing. In the 90’s and early 2000’s the US Army did a study with tourniquet application times and found they are able to remain in place up to 40 hours without damage to the limb. Pretty cool stuff

11:49 - "officer can't swim" yet she ran into that pond in full gear without a second thought. She absolutely deserved the recognition she got plus some. Mad respect to that officer.
This is why I so desperately HATE BAD COPS! Those tyrants who don’t care about the rights of others, and the Union that protects them! There are Police officers who I LOVE, couples with young children, previous family members who were cops, who were/are extraordinary in their service to their community. All tarnished because of the unthinking defense of those who are indefensible. Love and prayers for our honorable police officers. Shame to crooked cops and dishonorable DAs.
I’ve seen the one where he tried saving the woman and got shot. Some cops are rude, but others are kind and heroes, which makes it infuriating that people go so far as to attack cops just because some are rude and they think all of them only care about themselves.
It's mostly because of videos like that last one where everyone but one young officer is just standing around with their thumbs up their asses doing nothing while Sgt. Billy Badass just attacks people who can no longer defend themselves and hides behind the badge. Allowing people to attack an unarmed cuffed suspect in the back of a car and doing nothing is just as bad as doing it yourself in the public's eyes. Protect and serve means everyone, even if it's against another officer in the wrong. The suspect is still a citizen.
I once called the police department to ask about a situation that happened between two friends (both had different series of events), and the officer responded “wow, usually people don’t believe what the cop says” and I’m like, you’re a third party in this situation, you have no reason to lie about what happened. He must’ve gone through his fair share of disrespect.
I have seen that footage in other videos. That particular cop has a history of anger and discipline issues. He gets fired after this incident, but gets hired by another department soon afterwards. This is becoming a big problem in the country. Corrupt cops keep getting hired by these obscure departments. So you have these little towns, that are filled with nothing but corrupt police officers, some with criminal records themselves. It usually takes FBI involvement to clean these towns up.
Yeah honestly I remember seeing that one before when I was in Middle School or was it high School it was either the two, and I was like what the hell is this Sergeant or whatever rank he was thinking not only was he excessively spraying pepper spray on the suspect, but when the rookie pulls him off, he had to grab her by the neck or something, which is what officers should not do according to law is get into excessive force with suspects or their own, which he failed to do, what's worse is that none of the other officers even helped they just stand there watch, but luckily their body cams are on but still I would have done something if I was a police officer which I know I have no chance
as someone who has been shot, in my femur, you dont feel the pain for around 2 minutes and after the time has passed, it feels like you are constantly having your leg hit with a sledgehammer, my tip is to try to mainting a low heart rate by breathing in and out
True heroes don't wear capes-they wear badges and carry courage in their hearts. A cop sacrificing their life to protect others is the ultimate act of love and selflessness. Respect to all those who serve and protect ,putting others before themselves. Gone but never forgotten.
@@lilrae1458 No there were other people there watching and Waiting for the cops to show up. That's who I'm talking about. NOT the person that eventually saved the child. This is not the first time I've known people to just watch and point when someone or even a child is drowning.
I agree, it’s insane they aren’t trying to help, it’s not like it would put their lives in danger. Not sure how it works in the US but in France, not giving assistance to someone in danger is actually a punishable offence. This means that if you see an accident on the side of the road, you can’t just drive past unless rescue is already there. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duty_to_rescue
There's always a risk when saving a drowning person that they'll drown you too. But this kid was barely the size of a forearm... I cannot understand why no one tried before the cops arrived.
@@Batwam0 "This means that if you see an accident on the side of the road, you can’t just drive past unless rescue is already there." false. You NEVER do it on a highway or during the night. It doesn't even need to be real danger, just perceived. Those onlookers may not know how to swim too. If you had actually taken the time to think before typing, you may have realized that.
In a civilian defensive shooting one stray bullet and you could end up in prison for half your life or more even though someone was trying to kill you. Im originally from Jax and I can tell you that the person who got the kid out of the water if not the cop, might not have been recognized at all. JSO, while having some good cops on the force, has some really fucking horrible people as well and the city doesn't really care to recognize anyone that ain't gonna get a lot of press, if that makes sense.

I’m confused that none of the bystanders went in and saved the baby
From google-
Swimming is not a universal requirement to be a police officer in the US. It doesn't help with performing the essential job duties. Even our military doesn't have a universal swimming requirement because it is the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines most likely to need such skills, not all Air Force or Army.Aug 14, 2017

Probably better to be safe than sorry if you arent sure how bad the wound is
Training has changed.
@@ShaggzVB Fair enough. Plus in urban areas you're closer to medical assistance, unlike the rural setting I worked in.

These officers are hero’s!!! I couldn’t do their job. Thank y’all for everything
The last guy being a prime example, choking the female junior officer who bravely stepped in to protect the suspect whilst others did nothing... mfs!
I like how the officer says” you’re right”yup yup”😂😂😂😂
Bro MADDDDD RESPECT TO THESE COPS true life savers
These courageous men and women in the law enforcement that risks their lives every day I salute you.
Wow, the last cop was way out of line, never should've been allowed to put on a uniform. Props to the rookie officer pulling him away.
Bet he wouldn't have tried that with one of the male officers.
She's my hero. No one else did anything. She's a third his weight and size and stood up to him.
@@Juhani139 She’s got a big heart and a warrior spirit. She was the best officer in that footage.

Even the cops themselves tell you to NOT STOP. Just call 112.
One big part of that law is that you don't need to help if you perceive danger to yourself. It doesn't even need to be real danger, just perceived.
Those onlookers may not know how to swim too. If you had actually taken the time to think before typing, you may have realized that.
Glad the officers are okay.

Huge respect to that last officer. That dude was huge _and_ her boss. I can only hope I have that kind of bravery in me.
In a civilian defensive shooting one stray bullet and you could end up in prison for half your life or more even though someone was trying to kill you. In a law enforcement shooting bullets fly like they're on a Black Friday sale and if there's a stray bullet you get suspended with pay (AKA paid vacation), a medal, and a promotion/raise while the tax-payer foots the bill for the injured party.
