    What I say now sounds wierd but I got one a few weeks ago (just for fun, you know and I liked the look) - since then I don´t play my Engel Savage anymore😲! And she has a name: Frida! My Engel just amplifies my guitars, but Frida puts character and soul into the sound! 😀 Good job, Thomann!!

      Interesting. I had an Engl e650 Ritchie Blackmore for a few years. It was and still is my favorite amp and based on the Savage. Only got rid of it because of the weight that just isn't practical for a small band without roadies.
      At least from what I heard in this video, the Tube 30 is miles away from the amazing sound of the e650. But I don't say that because of the price difference. I myself have affordable Amps and a Harley Benton SC 550, that I love.
      So maybe this first impression is wrong and the Tube 30 could be a great amp for me. Is it possible for you to describe what specifically makes the Tube 30 more viable for you then the Savage?
      I know that is no easy task. ^^"
      Thanks!

    These sound great, because it is a Laney VC-30. I had the Monoprice version (exact same controls, size, specs, looks as this) and it had a Laney PCB board inside it with the "Laney" branding gooped over. The original is a well regarded amp, mine also came with all JJ tubes.

    Great short review. I know they probably won't let you, but I would love to see the interior and how well everything is wired together, tied off, etc. Maybe a side by side with amps in a similar price range. Also, liked the shirt, but I never see you with a goat shirt. Do you have something against hollow horned ruminants? Are they not good enough for the Henning collection??? How bout a baby goat shirt next time?

    • @Fastvoice
      @Fastvoice 2 месяца назад +2

      The 2nd knob is called "Overdrive Volume", not "Overdrive". So it's just the master volume for the overdrive channel, not an additional gain.

    I bought an Orange Micro Terror around 2016 and if I ever bough a more powerful head, I'd go with the Orange Rocker 15 Terror.
    That said, this looks and sounds very good and at a more affordable price. You could get this head and HB G212 vertical Celestion V30 and be set!

    • @timhopkins3810
      @timhopkins3810 Месяц назад

      Just an fyi, I think both the micro terror and rocker 15 have class AB power amps inside them (rocker has el84s and micro is solid state). This potentially means that it wouldn’t actually be that much louder and could even possibly be quieter given the micro is 20 watts and rocker is 15.
      Even thought they’re solid state, orange really beefed up the micros! 👍 best to compare before buying unless it’s the 2 channel part that appeals more 😊

  • @SFolkes97

    Sounds great! Honestly, what more do most players need? I have several HB guitars. All of them decent with only one of them having an issue, which is typical for any brand in that price range from China. I don't know about long term reliability of HB amps, there can always be problems with tube amps, even expensive ones. Consult the internet on that. But I would definitely buy one if I didn't have more than I need already. The size, the price, the sound, the (sensible) 30 watts. Worth looking at for practice, backup, or not taking your Mesa/Marshall/Fender to sketchy venues. Bang for the buck!

    • @stoneysdead689

    My first guitar was an SC Csutom 2. I really liked it, but! The wires are crap. The pick up switch was crazy when I played like 25-30 hours on it The jack input is always lose, no matter what I am doing. And the knobs are not that responsive. And it has a few minor issues (cosmetic mostly)
    I own a Schecter Omen Extreme now and I have to say the SC Custom II was a good first guitar, but if I had known that the Schecter is so much better in every way, I definitely would have spent the extra money and chosen it as my first guitar. Not only is it better, but it will be perfectly suitable for years because it's a great guitar.

  • @wraith1977
    @wraith1977 2 месяца назад

    I don't know who makes these, but they started as clones of the old Laney 15 Cub. You could get the combo on Monoprice. Now there's a head version and Harley Benton has started branding them. Years ago I got the 15w combo for $150. It was a crazy deal, and I still have the amp many years later. That "Tone" knob has always been an oddity and a unique feature of these weird clones.

    And the effects loop is great, if i go into the return with a good overdrive or distortion pedal, it's much louder then if i put it in the back of my engl metal master...
    The reverb is "meh", but the tone knob is very usefull and yes it's for the whole amp...

      Looks like a VC30-112 in head format, front panel controls - Laney style master Tone control, rear panel connections & switches etc. Effects loop bypass, -10db, 0db are pretty much identical and the spec seems very similar. If it didn't say Thomann / Harley Benton on it I'd assume I was looking at a VC30.

    Figured this was coming when I saw the Joyo offerings- which I think also fall in the 400-500 dollar range. That's not bad- that's the price of a decent modeler. That said- in both cases- that's just half the cost actually- now you need a cab. If you go with the modeler, you need a powered cab- which aint cheap- at all, costs as much or more than the modeler. If you go with the real tube amp- you just need a passive cab, which somehow- costs damn near as much as a powered one- go figure. And if you're like me- not very bright, you think- "But it's just a speaker in a box- I can build that." You can, you can definitely build a box and stick a speaker in it- and it will sound like sh1t. Must be the carpet right- so carpet the box- now it sounds like muffled sh1t. Turns out that "box" is highly designed with all kinds of baffles and stuff- just buy it, trust me. I mean if you had one you could measure, take apart, and copy exactly- you might do alright- but you can't just make a box- doesn't work that way. Besides, when you go to buy the speaker- if you get a good one, you pay nearly as much as a cab anyway. Just find a used, passive cab and pay up. But yeah- by the time you pay for that as well- you've about doubled the cost. I guess you could be a headphone rockstar, but no one will know but you. You could make a huge splitter and buy a bunch of headphones I guess..... man, this is some goods sh1t... I'm hungry.

    So when you're at home, do you play a naked amp, or do you either push it from the front or the effects loop?

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  2 месяца назад

      actually, when I am recording I go for the naked amp 90% of the time.
      This is why I have a bunch of amps that do different things. If I want more gain I go to an amp that does that. I sometimes experiment and go for a more unusual effect and then I obviously use pedals, but for the "meat and potatoes" sounds, I use plain amps.
