About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels (or other cities occasionally); footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. So bittersweet to see this. Always great to see this era of White Sox baseball, and to hear Harry and Jimmy. But, it really makes me miss watching Sox games with my dad. By the way, growing up in NW Indiana, I could only dream of watching a game on Channel 44 with this much clarity!!! What a great upload! Just as I remember watching Sox games as a kid on 44 (Sadly this was their last season airing them). No, they don't make em like Harry any more and it was pretty cool to watch him do this broadcast from the bleachers. So much memories...the old ballpark, seeing the vintage uniforms of both teams and of course the players...especially the interview at the end with the recently departed Farmio (Ed Farmer). Oh and can't forget about the nostalgic ads...hearing that Rusty Jones one was a memory jogger. And then the classic 44 promos...especially with the squared "fireworks" logo...yes!!!!
Thanks to whoever donated this! A retrospective game (too bad the Sox lost) and also a fine continuation of your other video posted with the footage of the Cowens fight from the day before...interesting take on it with Sparky in the beginning.

Thanks for these videos of classic full baseball games, they are wonderful reminders of great times, and leaving the local commercials in sets the time perfectly for us. I'm not from Chicago ( L.A. Dodgers guy since early 1970's ) or particularly a White Sox or Tigers fan ,although i remember the players , i'm mainly a fan of baseball, so watching this sort of makes me feel like i'm just watching the game on tv at a friends house in Chicago in 1980, it's kinda' surreal and great, cuz' i don't know anyone in Chicago. The broadcast is not much different than the Dodger games on KTTV ch.11 in the 70's & 80's , the same type of production, and feel to it. I grew up hearing Vin Scully, Ross Porter, & Jerry Doggett so that is what baseball sounded like for me growing up. But it's really cool to see & hear what it was like elsewhere, and sort of get the feeling how it might have been growing up hearing Harry Carey, Jimmy Piersoll ,Joe McConnell, or Cub games w/ Jack Brickhouse, it is just awesome. Please show as much of this as you can , it's the best. Thanx, again , Bob.G

To me, Harry Caray is the second all-time best broadcaster in White Sox history to Hawk Harrelson. Harrelson was outspoken like Harry Caray was, but didn't get away with as much as Caray did. Nevertheless, both broadcasters are in the National Baseball Hall of Fame for their unique contributions.
