In this clip, Michael Jai White and Vlad discuss who they view as the number one Black actor. Denzel Washington is brought up, and while respected, they explore the concept of Samuel L Jackson having far more range, as he could potentially play most of the roles Denzel has been cast for, with the exception of Malcolm X. Moreover, they consider the roles that Denzel might not be able to take on, such as those Jackson played in iconic movies like Pulp Fiction. However, they also address the fact that Jackson always maintains his innate persona in his roles, a comment often made about Denzel as well. The concept that an actor's versatility should be prioritized above their ability to embody a character entirely is discussed.

I just wanna say that A Long Kiss Goodnight is one of the most criminally underrated movies EVER. Samuel L. Jackson killed that role. One of my favorite movies til this day

  • @IconicOutsider

Denzel isn’t doing Django and Samuel L isn’t doing Deja vu

  • @cedreed6217

    Even Denzel praises Sam…

Samuel L Jackson could maybe have played in Training Day but it may not have had the same impact or won an Oscar. Denzel improvised so many scenes in that movie and had a special chemistry with the director. There are so many subtle nuances and lines uniquely delivered by Denzel that kept people rewatching and quoting that movie for years. That movie without Denzel in it would have just been an average movie about a rogue cop.

I don't see anyone but Denzel in The Preacher's Wife. Denzel is smooth and sublime.

Every time I hear Samuel L. Jacksons roles.. I never hear how good of the role he played in "Fresh"!! He played a great role in that film!!! Great & EPIC! 💯💯💯

  • @hareemobduljawon

I can't see Sam Jackson playing Malcolm X or Equalizer.

  • @charlesjones7770

Don Cheadle needs his flowers ASAP. You can't tell me he didn't shine over Denzel Washington in "Devil in a Blue Dress". He can play any role given to him and transforms in to the character.

  • @blunt2416

It's not about who can play more roles. It's about crushing the roles you play & who can draw the bigger audience.

  • @brianhall1977

We need a new Denzel and Samuel movie

  • @tiro8323

Could have played in Training Day? Definitely yes.... As good as Denzel did? No fucking ways

  • @nickatnite16

Sam Jackson is great! But lets not forget those box office numbers include marvel movies and stars, huge franchises where Sam was not The star, the franchise is The star. Denzel is the leading man in all his movies

Sam always goes all out in his performances. He's great. But Denzel not only goes all out, he privides the subtle nuances to his roles that make them that much more memorable. Chewitel Ejifor mentioned that when they did "American Gangster" and "Inside Man" together. He said denzel told him not to be afraid to add little details to a scene to make it unforgettable. I get what MJW is saying, but Sam not on Denzel's level.

  • @davidlofton6674

Sam Jackson, john Malkovich and Jeffrey wright can play almost anything

  • @Morneism

One thing I noticed maybe other people noticed it as well, in most of movies his hair is different which gives him a unique character. Even when he is just bald Samuel L Jackson to me its still a different character.

  • @ladyt1182

Hey guys we dont have to put one actor down to compliment the other both are great at what they do.
