    Well done! Our school district just made a similar video and it's going on the local and regional news stations. This message must continue to prevent a catastrophe.

    May it be suggested that the 'small' stop sign is not too visible from a distance? Suggest a 10 foot arm on the left side / drivers' side of the bus with a 3 foot high stop sign which is very brightly lit, with red lights on the arm. Also do a half size - 5 foot arm on the right hand / door side, with the same size stop sign.
    If a driver is found to go past these control devices, $2,000 fine, car impounded for 31 days for a first offence. Second offence is doubled, plus a 93 day loss of licence.

    I am a bus driver for one of the 20 largest school systems in the USA. One of THE most terrifying situations for me is where I have checked the area when dropping off my kids in the PM, put out my stop arm, released my kids, but some BONEHEAD blows through from a side street where I couldn't see, almost hitting my kids!!
    If I see all the pertinent info (license plate, make/model etc.) and report it, what happens next is that to actually obtain a CONVICTION, (IFFY at BEST) I will need to take time off work, go to court, etc. My boss will be pissed at me for having to find another driver to cover my run.
    Because of the way my compensation is structured (Base pay, attendance bonus, various other specifics to my situation) I will have at LEAST one 2 week pay period where I will lose 40%!! of my salary, MAYBE MORE THAN ONE PAY PERIOD!!!
    Guess what- my response to such dangerous situations is to GRIT MY TEETH AND PRAY!!!

      Report it, that's it for you.
      No court, no conviction, no time off.

    Iam amaze this section on school bus safety in every drivers test manuel in the USA but drivers either don't care or just don't think these laws apply to them as drivers we all have practice being safe around school buses

      I usually see car drivers stop behind the bus and then go, like it's a typical stop sign. These morons are in such a big hurry they endanger children's lives. They really need to think about making the driver secure his bus and go out and help children cross

    Pass a law that makes it a Fed case and start putting people in fed jail for a max of 2 years then maybe people will learn

    • @thomaswarner9918
      @thomaswarner9918 5 лет назад +1

      I think we need to institute harsher penalties for a lot of these driving offenses. We need to start throwing people in jail instead of just writing them tickets.

    • @TruckTaxiMoveIt
      @TruckTaxiMoveIt 5 лет назад

      Stop that.
      Driver's licenses should be far more difficult to get for younger people who study for the test rather than for knowledge they might skip right over things just to get the the license instead of wanting to have the knowledge of what's going on.

      Why do you have to be so extreme? Make it a penalty one step below a DWI

    Protecting our kids.
    Some school bus companies have very old monitors and those monitors have a very very hard time getting on the bus
    I am wondering during the emergency how in the hell, they can jump 4 feet down on the ground from the rear emergency door to rescue those preschool kids.

    On railroad crossings, do the cars going the opposite way have to stop? That section was unclear. This video was informative and the visual aids are very useful.

    Why not have crossing guards on each bus to direct traffic. They could get off the bus with stop signs with flashlights and green vests. They can have cameras on their vests to catch violators.

    • @TruckTaxiMoveIt
      @TruckTaxiMoveIt 5 лет назад +1

      The bus itself is big yellow has flashing lights and moving objects Each of which is an attention-getter combined is a major attention getter just add more cameras

    • @Engineer9736
      @Engineer9736 6 лет назад

      spideryoutubeaccount I think the school bus won’t get far then. 10 cars will run over it, the bus driver has to deal with those people then. Some drivers may be aggresive towards the bus driver. And then you’ve got that with all those kids in the back.

    "Stop within 30 feet"? Is he misstating this? Taken literally, it seems like he is saying that you have to "stop within 30 feet" of the school bus, meaning you can't stop MORE than 30' away. It would be better if this was made more clear. Maybe he means that you need to stop "at least 30' away from the bus"? or "You must stay at least 30' away from the bus"? What he actually (repeatedly) states here, is sort of the opposite and is needlessly confusing. WTH?
