A lot of Filipinos grew up listening to their songs. It may sound "corny" to you buy way back in the 80's and 90's, songs are waaaaay have much more meaning compared to all these songs in 2000's. Btw I was born on 1999, and I should be a fan of the "new" music but I appreciate the songs way back then. It has so much meaning than today's. The Filipino people would never say this is corny.

It's actually not that surprising. A1 is famous back in the 90's but they didn't actually get into the American market that much. Despite such things, A1 was still a huge hit in the UK and Ireland, in Southeast Asia and in the Scandinavian countries, specifically in Norway, where Christian is from.
Bobby Valentine Angelo Fababeir , yeah A1 never made it to North America, but I did hear of them somewhere before. I think Nuvela, is that his name, wasn’t into the boy band before. He said it himself he’s not into this type of song.
Boybands were pretty much big in Southeast Asia and some parts of Europe in the latter part of the 90s and earlier 2000s. The only boyband that had a huge popularity was Backstreet Boys or N'Sync but boybands fade in the new millenium. In the US, boybands were "cringy" and appealed only to a particular age group. So don't fault Ovela for not knowing A1. The world is so different from the Philippines guys.
What's good is that they did it in a very playful manner; they're just having a good time.
