Good to see the 1200 working. Autumn cultivation, my favorite time of the year.

That grass seed will take in my opinion. Ground temperature is still warm enough, good moisture and the stubble Will rot in nicely. Top stuff squire!

We used to undersow cereals with grass & clover using an Alvan Blanch brush box drill, harvest the crop, bale the straw, and the grass & clover would start to emerge more strongly

The stubble will rot and free manure for the grass great job 👍

I suppose that years ago the stubble would have been burned off and then a light scratch over with a set of discs to produce a seed bed? Excellent video as usual Dan.

My father did the same in a 4 acre field,4 years later its a lovely field of grass, loads of clover, hardly any weeds apart from a few dandelions

Great to see this all happening. Back in the seventies we used to mix grass seed with fisons granular fertiliser in a tin bath . This was then tipped into a Lely spreader , the idea being the heavy pellets would propel the grass seed much further. It seemed to work ok then , but an expensive procedure now I reckon with the price of fertiliser!

Lovely. Nice looking tilth there. Here we think it is beneficial to apply some lime on min till reseeds. Good to see the artic at work. It should work out well.

Great to see the 1200 operating. A machine ahead of the pack in the 60's. It seemed a monster at the time when a silage contractor arrived with one. Good on you for keeping yours working.

Nice to see the MF 1200 working,we spread our grass seed with a Vicon and tow a grass dredge directly behind the spreader then roll it. Thanks for an informative video 👍

Interesting no plough. We experimented with no plough cereals (wheat and barley) in the early 70’s. We used a heavy spring tine cultivator and rotavator to get a tilth. Worked well but always looked a mess with the stubble on top. Used a drill to plant with tickle bar on the back to cover the seed. Sprayed to deal with any mildew , fungus etc. didn’t seem to need to roll. Please let give an update on the progress of the grass growth etc.

Cracking video, well done. The arctic made for some really tight turns on the headland, well displayed on the drone footage. Make the work lights QD, you might need them in the future. Was that Bruv i saw in YOUR tractor ?

Good video Dan, what width do you drive when broadcasting the seed, I’d also prefer the broadcasting method for grass seed as the drilling can leave a lot of clay exposed

Great job Dan, don’t see any reason why that won’t work. Did you check for slugs? Just that material in the soil along with a bit of moisture they could be there. Your grass seed mixture, grazing or silage? or any extra clover?
    Thanks again, Alastair
