Why is there a scene in this episode, that has Wildstar, who's been appointed the Commander of The Argo, actually lowering himself to 'brawling' with a newly assigned 'crewman'? Why, doesn't the Argo, have any Senior NCOs in it's crew complement? No ship, the size of the Argo, would be allowed to leave it's mooring, without having a competent 'COB' (Chief Of the Boat), aboard. The COB's job is to oversee the 'enlisted' crew of the ship. To deal with issues like, Crew Discipline. Any enlisted crewman/crew person, who proves to be 'troublesome' and 'disruptive' to the "Good Order & Discipline, Of The Ship", should be immediately addressed by the COB, long before the Captain of the Argo, even gets wind of it. If he ever gets wind of it, at all.

This was by far..the best kids show ever....at 4:00 am was Marine Boy...was ok...Piper , skipper included (although aqua gum would be cool). But Star Blazers is what got me up at 4 am weekdays! It was ok if I missed a few minutes of marine boy.
This is so watchable. I don't know what went wrong, and anime became huge eyes, and massive screaming mouths...but too bad what happened. This style here is nice.
Only in a Japanese 'anime', would you see a scenario were a very junior crewman would be reckless enough to actually presume to brawl with his COMMANDING OFFICER. But what's even WORSE, is a COMMANDING OFFICER, who's so IMMATURE, that he can't exercise the proper JUDGEMENT, to realize if you let yourself be GOADED into a BRAWL with a junior crewman. You DON'T have what it takes to EFFECTIVELY LEAD them, into "HARM'S WAY!"
@AlternityGM It's a Captains Prerogative under way. Every leader has their own style, Cpt Wildstar is hard on the Cadet cause he see's a lot of himself in that kid, and so he does it to push that kid to be his very very best.
these aged quite well imo! still interesting and good visuals, all things considered, all it needs is some brushing up on imagery, that's it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why the space battle ship is not call Yamato because some viewers do not like to be reminded of the imperial Japan roles during those terrible years in WW2.Just my 2 cents!

Westerners back then knew more about the Argo from the greek stories and almost nothing of Japanese history. I'm sure shows dubbed over there had name changes also.
Never saw this before it was unavailable for broadcast in America when I was a fan in the 80's I even tried to buy it on VHS but it was cost prohibitive for a cartoon so i passed series 1& 2 i found very enjoyable for a childrens show don't remember how i got hooked on it as I was a young man when I started watching probably the theme song I'll bet i used to occasionally catch episodes during a summer broadcast after I got home from work i'll reserve opinion on bolar wars till I find more time to view more however the dialogue seems more DUMBED DOWN than i remember all those years ago but as I said I was a young man so maybe it was me that was DUMBED DOWN it was after all the 80's i know it's, a children's show but Damn the vessels captain inviting a common crew man to fisticuffs when I was a kid I would never have been DUMB enough to buy that level of writing even on a kiddie show I after all grew up on 60's era Johnnie Quest re-runs with intelligent Saturday morning cartoon writing hope it gets better series 1&2 were!
Why search for a new Earth? Didn't they go to a similar type planet called Iscandar in the first series and stop along the way to few planets that can sustain life? Just go there.
They were searching for Iscandar the entire first Season after discovering the alien ship and the plans that were brought to earth teaching us how to build a Star Light Drive leading to the building of the Yamato.
You need to watch one of the Japanese star blazers series, called "The New Journey" . If shows why the Argo cannot go to Iscandar anymore(it takes place one month after the end of the comet empire)

Chances are he was very good at it and not many preferred to get on his bad side. Labelashavoc is talking about the original American voice cast for the first two dubbed seasons of StarBlazers. They were a great group, especially Eddie Allen who was the voice of Leader Desslok. Unfortunately, by the time the Bolar Wars season finally made it to the United States, a different translation production company was in charge than the one that did the Quest for Iscandar and Comet Empire War seasons and they didn't get the same actors for the cast, so it just doesn't match up with the rest of the series very well. And the translation scripts for this season were also quite dumbed-down compared to the first two - almost Battle Of The Planets level dumbed-down. The translation of the third season was really slipshod and didn't at all live up to the quality of the two seasons that made StarBlazers such a sensation in the United States.
5:30 Disappointed at how the animators got lazy in drawing the Yamato's bow. Horrible. Looks like a grotesque sausage. A true shame and disgrace to the original animators of the original Star Blazers series
They rushed through this series. They did a lot of thought in the Comet Empire. I was a little disappointed with this one. They need to redue this series.🙄

This is great! The whole series I only remember bits & pieces of from stealth late night TV viewing as a kid!
