Great stuff and verry interesting. When downrating a vehicle from 10.5t to 7.5t what would the Professor suggest for a better ride. Can existing leaf springs be treated so to downrate them for the new situation?

You speak on vans and rv. Do you have any solutions for SUVs? I’ve got a 3/4 ton Yukon and want to better support my load carrying capacity and towing. I’m going to upgrade my hitch to a Curt class V. I think the Yukon had a lift installed by the previous owner. I don’t know whether to upgrade the leaf pack or upgrade the leaf pack with helper bags. It’s a 4x4 and I use it off road so that’s also a factor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Plastic wear spacers, p-tons or shim spacers are used to shim between leaves of springs to keep them from making noise. Will it weaken or damage the leaves if the P-tons are replaced with thicker ones or add P-tons to the leaves that don't have them?

Listen to the man. Don't DIY your springs. Use a good shop that understands the dynamics of leaf springs.
